We stayed in Apartment 18 and the plumbing was awful. The major issue is the shower which is not a shower but just a mixer tap with a shower attachment and a booster. Had I been on my own I would never have worked out how to use it as it needed to be coaxed into action by keeping the shower head low until the pressure had built up then it could be raised. Managing the temperature via mixer taps isn't easy, so it was always slightly too hot. This isn't really satisfactory and wasted a lot of time each morning. Surely the owners could just install an electric shower - they're not that expensive and the flat isn't that cheap for the quality of it. In addition the when you flushed the toilet it was massively loud and went on forever and the kitchen tap had a constant leak!!

Ideal for a city break. Rooms are modern and clean. Bathrooms could be a little cleaner/modern, but other than that no complaints. Tea and coffee provided in all rooms. Location is ideal, very central. Close to O’Connell street, bord gais theatre etc. Would stay here again. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

I wouldn’t stay at the Amberley again. Dodgy area, not as clean as I’d like, very small shower in an old bathroom, no AC, no lift, no amenities. It was OK for the price, but not a good experience overall. The best thing I can say is that the bed was comfortable and the linens were ok.

We are celebrating our Silver Wedding in Dublín. The best guesthouse to visit Dublín. It is 3 minutes walking to Spire and O'Connell shopping área. The reception staff are friendly, Cristina,Marina y Joseph. They are always helpful y giving all the necessary information. The housekeeping staff work quietly and they are very efficient.Tony, thanks for your fast reparings in our room. The beds are very confortable and they bathroom clean and spacious. Only one thing to improve our stay:a small fridge for water,milk....... Thanks, Sidney, you listened...... and thanks for that bottle of wine and chocolates. Without any doubt, I will stay in Amberley Guest House if I come back yo Dublín.

Great location for shops, bars and restaurants but would not stay at the Amberley again. We were in the apartments which were far to small for 4 adults. Not the cleanest place I have ever stayed in, there was a horrible smell of food as we entered the apartment very greasy smelling. Can’t complain about the people who work in the Amberley they were all very helpful. Shower was impossible to figure out how to use had to call for a maintenance guy to show us how to work it.

It is important to understand that the hotel is in a Georgian era brownstone, which means the rooms are a bit funky, and the bathrooms were added a couple of centuries after the building was built. No elevators and steps means it is NOT a hotel for the handicapped or those with limited mobility. It is about 400 to 500 yards/meters from Connolly Rail Station, and 500 to 600 yards/meters from O'Connell St., The Millennium Spire, and the General Post Office. There are pubs, restaurants, take away places and a Tesco Market close by. Easy to get to the heart of Dublin, or to catch the LUAS. I was lucky in that my room #3 was on a mezzanine level, with only ten steps to get to it. The room was about a foot wider than the length of the bed. Close the drapes at night as the windows are single pane glass. As for the bathroom, you kind of have to contort and twist yourself to sit down on the toilet - but once down, you can lean on the edge of the sink. The real flaw is in the shower as there is no place to place your soap or shampoo, or anything. That costs about a half point. I found the front desk folks friendly and helpful and there are all sorts of informational brochures in the lobby. Best of all, the Airport Express bus #600 has a stop that is literally right across the street from the hotel. Very handy for getting to the airport.

Arrived late Friday night with a great and informative Irish cabbie. Warm welcome and room more than adequate. Great location very close to all the main sights and attractions. Room was quiet and we slept well. Compared to the prices of other accommodation we looked at in Dublin I'd recommend this location and property. No breakfast, but lots of places close by.

The selling point for Amberley House is the location. Close to everything; either walking distance or public transport. Our room was OK and we had no real complaints. Not luxurious but adequate. There are no lifts so you need to use the stairs. The staff offered to help us with our bags. They were friendly and helped us whenever we asked them about anything. For a modest hotel in a great location Amberley House is recommended.

Worst place I have ever stayed in. Stains on carpets, blood on curtains, TV didn't work, no water in the room although a card saying ENJOY your complimentary water. No breakfast although visitor info pack stating breakfast times. Coffee machine didn't work, windows were so dirty that you literally couldn't see out of them. Awful, awful place. If you like slumming it just to be close to the centre of Dublin then you are sorted. If you like a clean and tidy place to relax..go elsewhere. Please look at the pics. A picture never lies. I'm not exaggerating.

The room had very high ceilings (quite nice actually) and the guest is very close to Connolly Station and to the large shopping area of Henry Street. The negative is the thinness of the doors/walls and the not wanted ability to hear everyone opening and closing their doors or talking in the hall.
