The hotel was great for a group on a hen do! The rooms were clean and functional. Admittedly the decor is a bit questionable but it just adds to the 'character' the hotel and rooms are accessed via codes so you don't have to worry about keys etc which is great. The breakfast was really good too! All in all it was ideal for what we wanted!

Once again, when I stayed there in the late autumn of this year it was excellent and value for money. + their internet facility has vastly improved. & likewise my stay at this Hotel in April 2017 was excellent, very much value for money. This place is well run, very comfortable, with all the facilities ( eg; a good fast Wi-Fi System, Bathroom, and Fridge per room., and so a credit to the Owners, Jamil & Jubeth Mosquida, a decent hard working Family, who are Salt of the Earth. Yours Sincerely. Bob Briggs.

I stayed in the Mayfield b&b from 5th May for 2 nights as part of a hen do (organised for us through a hen/stag company). As a base only it was fine - breakfast was nice (cooked) and we were close to nightlife, being a short taxi ride away. However, the decor in the hotel is hangover-inducing and I never saw any staff in the b&b apart from at breakfast. The showers had no power and it took ages to wash my hair the one time I braved it! I would not be happy if I paid full price and stayed in this hotel with my husband! For a large group occasion, this hotel provides adequate accommodation for one or two nights.

To say the hotel was basic was optimistic. On arrival we realised we'd made a mistake. For over £100 a night for a family room the only thing which was useful was the bed, and fridge. The décor was dated, and cleanliness was certainly substandard. When hotels say "classic" or "period" decor, it seems to be because they simply haven't bothered upgrading it. To add to our dissatisfaction there was food on the ceiling, and on the bed clothes from previous guests. There was no handle to close the window at all and this was particularly dangerous for our small children who could have fallen out. The lights wouldn't work (bulbs were blown), the toilet roll holder was broken, and there were bare cables in the bathroom which were potentially dangerous. Owing to having small children we paid for breakfast; it was a costly mistake. The hotel owners are tight-fisted and they wouldn't even allow us to have cereal as part of a full breakfast. The food was clearly very cheap and poor quality despite being relatively expensive. In total I cannot possibly recommend this hotel, particularly for a family. It is poor value for money and is not well looked after. There were too many things wrong for us to be able to enjoy our stay.

We stayed two nights on a stag weekend. It was perfect for a dozen or so to crash between days / nights out etc. I didn't make breakfast either day because it was served between 08:30 and 09:30 I think. The rooms were clean and it was has everything we needed. They were very friendly and happy to put up with our noise. There is parking out the front if needed. Excellent price for the weekend.

I have been staying in this hotel every week for the last 6 months. Always clean. Always friendly. Always reliable. It's been a pleasure to stay. Thank you The staff are friendly Rooms are clean Warm and comfortable

After reading all the terrible reviews of this B&B I felt I just had to write my own review (my first ever) on my recent stay at the Mayfield. On arrival my friend and I were greeted by (I presume) the owner and were asked to fill in a short form. No deposit or huge, long forms as other reviewers have remarked about. We were told we were being upgraded to an ensuite room from the room with an external bathroom which we had booked. Yes, the room had humourously clashing decor ie. carpets, curtain, wallpaper etc. but so what?? I had been quite worried after reading some the reviews but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. The room, whilst quite overcrowded with furniture, was spotlessly clean. The beds had white duvet covers and pillow cases and the beds themselves were the most comfortable I had slept in for some time. The bathroom, whilst having decor from around 1980, was also perfectly clean. There was a clean kettle and a tray with plenty of tea, coffee and milk which was replenished each day. There was also a small fridge in the room. Breakfast was available but we didn't have it as we were leaving too early each day. This B&B is perfectly located for the railway/coach station which is just a 5 minute walk away and there is a cafe, chippy and pizza restaurant a couple of minutes away. I cannot comment on any of the other rooms but the one we stayed in was perfect for my needs. I will not hesitate to stay here again, and all for the bargain price of £28 per night!

I would not class this as a clean hotel, the rooms were not up to standard of cleanliness and the shower just trickled! We payed £100 per night for this hotel and we couldn't even shower! We complained and was told we couldn't have a refund for the second night so we went to find an alternative hotel with working facilities. Would definitely not recommend staying here!

Was away for a stag weekend. Basic B&B , friendly staff, rooms were clean and comfortable. Tea and Coffee in the room with a TV as well. Parking available. 5 minute walk to the bars and clubs. Like the idea it is a code to get in the rooms so no worry about losing the keys. Would def stay here again.

We went for a hen do and the hen do organisers arranged accomadation. The beds were really comfy, water was hot and the rooms were quiet so we could sleep well. We were really close go the centre and could walk in 15 mins or get a taxi in 5 minutes. Would recommend for a cheap price to stay here. Also the breakfast was really nice with a never ending supply of toast.
