Elstead Hotel3.0 out of 5.0

Deciding at the last minute to visit Bournemouth for a week, we checked out lots of hotel reviews at different price points - The Elstead's reviews put it well ahead of budget hotels, and on a par with a number of higher priced hotels, so we booked a seven-night stay. The location was just right: on a residential street, far enough out of town to be quiet, yet close enough to walk into Bournemouth. There's free parking on site (some other hotels charge extra for parking) and we had no problem finding a space. The bedroom and ensuite were clean, the staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I found the WiFi to be OK and the TV signal was good too (worth mentioning - I've stayed in several places where the aerial is shared between rooms without sufficient boosting, making the TV useless). We kept the window open and the ceiling fan on most of the time, as the room was always warm. We were at the back of the building and there was no appreciable noise from outside. The full English breakfast buffet was good, with plenty of choice. There's a gym and swimming pool with sauna and steam room too, all included in the price. We used these several times. As others have said, the hotel's decor is a little tired, but the many positive points far outweigh this and it was a good choice for our stay in Bournemouth.
Because of room avaiability we settled for the Bridal Suite. We understand the heavy take up of rooms in such a popular hotel. We were not disappointed - despite being busy with August volume holiday makers the quality of service and attention to detail by the staff maintained it's very high standard. The Manager, Graham, must be complimented for his skills in good hotel management.
Staying at The Elstead has become a beloved family tradition. It is always a treat. What makes our visit really special is the old-fashioned hospitality and dining experience afforded. The food is tempting and served hot which is most welcome in my book. We slept really soundly as it is a pleasant, peaceful hotel. The only possible improvement would be a refurbishment of the changing facilities in the pool area. Looking forward to next summer.
Very nice and comfortable stay. It is a boutique independent hotel. Very tidy, clean and have all the necessities in the room. Breakfast in the restaurant was very tasty and filling!!! Sure to come back when get chance.
Have to say the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had booked two rooms as 4 of us were staying. Though one of us were unable to go due to a sudden illness. Phone them up and Graham the Manager was so understanding and let us just have one room and changed our booking at no loss to us. Plenty of parking. The breakfast was lovely and fresh. Our room was big, one double and one single. It was clean and aired. Yes the hotel could do with a bit of paint here and there. But the service out ways all that. Big shout out to the night porter who after a long and very late day for us. Was so welcoming and made us a lovely jug of hot chocolate for us and even put some biscuits on the side. We used the pool and gym. It was ok for us, to chill and have a refreshing dip. No problems with the wifi. We would stay again.
Staff were friendly but this hotel is tired and in need of upgrading. Wifi is next to useless and for these days it is expected especially for the pricing of the hotel. Windows were not clean, cracks and grouting missing on bathroom tiles, positioning of ironing board and the bathroom door banging and not opening fully can only be classed as weird. There were other issues with service from staff one of them being not asking if we wanted coffee or tea at breakfast, service was not busy, as a matter of point didn't ask and continued breakfast and walked out without having hot drinks, all in all for the price we wouldn't stay here again. Cwu take a hard look at the hotel!
We stayed at the Elstead in early July for two nights whilst we attended the National Cheerleading Championships at the International Centre for my daughter. The hotel was comfortable and clean and we enjoyed our stay. Our three kids particularly liked being able to have a swim in the hotel pool. The breakfast was plentiful and the bar was well manned and stocked. The hotel is located about 20 mins walk from the main drag in Bournemouth and a large superstore is nearby.
I only stayed one night.Very friendly and helpful reception staff. My room was a single but had everything in it, trouser press, iron, etc. the shower was a good size and water hot. It is only a three star, but I found it fine, very wide stairs and a lift, It is a bit tired but the breakfast was good, a good choice and pleasant staff. Very easy to get to from the main roads and a large car park which is a bonus. I thought it very good value. I will stay there again
14 members of the family. All ages gathered to celebrate my sister and her husbands Golden Wedding. We chose this hotel for its favourable location, family friendly reviews and indoor swimming pool ( stuff to do if weather bad ) The staff were very pleasant and accommodating but I did find the hotel a little tired and dark...Decor in keeping with the style of 15-20 years ago. On saying this it was clean and well presented. We loved the bar area to meet up but the men were disappointed the bar T V was unable to screen the Rugby Test Match as the sports channel was not provided so missed breakfast to go to a local sports bar. Breakfast, we paid extra, was plentiful and tasty. I do think the hotel was rather over priced.
Great medium sized 3 star hotel, clean rooms, comfy beds, well presented and sufficient food. Yes a bit dated, but functional. Not far from sea front and a short walk into town. Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again
