It was just what was needed for a total relaxing stay.
The space is amazing both inside and outside. The children enjoyed running and playing in the very safe grounds. The kitchen was modern but it had a microwave, air fryer tea coffee facilities, fridge so we had no problems. The house was warm and rooms were large. I would highly recommend.
I cannot think of anything it was a perfect stay.

While Finest Retreats was somewhat not as responsive as I'd love, but it was no bother because Frank (on-site management) was supremely helpful.

Family Hickleton Hall
Had a lovely stay here in such an interesting place, with loads of history. Yes, the layout is quirky, the dining room/kitchen is dark and the bathroom sink is small, but none of these caused us an issues. Location is great with loads to do within a short drive yet the location feels very tranquil. We would stay here again and looking forward to seeing the renovations to the rest of the house.
Better lighting options in the dining room and a bigger bathroom sink!

We stayed at Hickleton Hall for my sister’s 30th birthday with 9 of us across 4 rooms
We stayed at Hickleton Hall for my sister’s 30th birthday with 9 of us across 4 rooms. The house and grounds are stunning, full of character, in a peaceful location, and perfect for a special occasion. We loved the piano, pool table, and the general feel of the place. There are a couple of practical downsides: only one bathroom and one toilet for 9 people. The fridge was quite small for a group that size. Also, the listing didn’t mention all appliances so I brought an air fryer but found there was already one there. We had a short issue with the water being off on Sunday evening (possibly related to nearby building works). The emergency contact responded quickly (within 40 mins), and even though the water came back on before the groundsman arrived, he still came to double-check everything, which we appreciated. Overall, we had a great weekend and would definitely recommend this place for groups wanting something memorable and unique!

Bank holiday break
Very impressive building, great outdoor space, pool table was a good addition.
The kitchen/diner was very dark at all times, even in the day. Difficult to see anything to prepare food or to tidy. A couple of extra lights would make the world of difference. One bathroom between all of us was also a bit of a pain. As was the lack of a hob (I would suggest being explicit that there isn’t one in the listing). It made things very difficult with trying to cater for a 3 year old.

If you expect luxury at a budget price... you aren't quite there and should keep looking.
If you expect a piece of history, a very unique place, and still a feel of home, this place is perfect for you.As other reviews mention, there are minor things that could be improved. It shows that this is a family business trying to do some things themselves and hiring out other jobs and trying to bring a historic piece of property back up to working order. The doorknobs are old. Putting modern overhead lights in a historic building is really hard and expensive, etc... All the problems are minor and nothing you wouldn't expect in your own home, even some of the 4 star hotels I've stayed at.If I had to complain about anything, its that some of the mattresses could use a refresh. However, the drive up is jaw dropping, the entry hall is amazing, the living room is spacious and gorgeous. The lower level, where most of the bedrooms and the dining room are, feels cozy and comfortable, while having room to spread out and have your own space. The grounds are phenomenal. Someone has put a lot of time and effort in here and it shows.Everything was clean and neat. The towels and linens provided were wonderful. We made good use of the kettle, microwave, and air fryer. Morning coffee and tea with the kettle was wonderful. My family and I had a wonderful time at this property and have every intention of staying again. Highly recommended.

What a mix
The house and grounds are impressive, and clearly there's something glorious planned for the future here. It was great to have the grounds for our kids to run around and play in.
Frank the estate manager was an absolute legend, and was on hand to answer our questions.
It's strange to rent a four bedroom holiday rental that has a kitchen that is so under-equipped. We took heed of the property description, and took *all* our own stuff, and survived fine. But the fridge is small, and the freezer is just an ice compartment. No hob. No oven. Future plans to include a proper kitchen would be a total game changer here.
Then there's the decor. Okay, personal preference granted, but having a bunch of pictures of demons leering over children wasn't a particularly welcoming feel for our family holiday. The flat generally feels poorly lit, a bit dingy, and possibly a bit creepy - even though it's been renovated to a good standard.
There's one bathroom - which is okay if not ideal.

Stunning property & gardens
Beautiful property and gardens. Very clean throughout and very nice touch with the Prosecco and milk in the fridge .
Just for info the kitchen does have an airfryer ( I took my own plus a grill) -it is quite dark as other reviews have mentioned so suggest taking a couple of portable lights.
The garden patio has a large dining table and seating for approx 8 ( cushions can be found in the cupboard in the dining room).
The key box to enter is not on the gate ( which were the instructions we received) and can be found on the archway to the right of the property ( as you stand facing it).
The local community run pub ( Hickleton Village Hall and Club) was a big hit- the locals were very welcoming and the price of drinks very reasonable .
The vast gardens are idyllic and our dog loved every minute of exploration- we had the whole place to ourselves -the peace and quiet is bliss.
We did have deliveries from Tesco , Just Eat and Uber eats- we had to meet them at the gate and escort to the premises and off again .( security cameras etc around the whole estate which is very comforting)
One bathroom between 7 of us was a tad challenging and ideally en suites or a 2nd bathroom would be a great addition ( I appreciate the challenges this may present as a grade listed building ).
Additional lighting in the kitchen would be good
