We decided to stay somewhere on the river for one nite as we passed through this area and this place appeared before us. It was far from a stroke of luck. We did eventually get a old cabin on the river although they did try to stiff us with one further back from it after we had paid for the nite, and pay we did. $200 for a very old tiny cabin that was way past its use by date. It was damp and smelly and needed a decent clean. It would be far suited to the $60 per nite price tag. They rely solely on its location by the river (and next to the very noisy highway) for customers. The young girl on the desk did her best but it was the uncaring attitude of the manager hiding out the back that was the problem. They wont see us again.
We stayed in air conditioned family bungalow, after specifically requesting airconditioning, for 5 nights. We chose this accommodation as it was close to a family event we were attending, but quiet enough for a few days of family relaxation beforehand. We chose this spot over a couple of others as we like fishing and you can fish off the rivers edge, crab pots are available to hire, as are kayaks and bait is available to buy onsite. You can go boating in the tributary aside the bungalows, but remember take mossie spray with you, especially for nights. Canoes and kayaks were available for hire on weekends and public holidays. The crab pot could be hired daily at the bait shop, which sells a few supplies such as bread, noodles and icecreams and is open from 10am until 3.30pm appdoximately. There is a public busstop nearby, which goes to Nambour to the west, land Maroochydore to the east, about 15 mins to the Sunshine Plaza by bus. The Waterfront hotel with bistro is within walking distance. We used public buses for a few trips into the local boat hire place, on the Paynter River, as well as to shops and to other locations. We switched buses at the Plaza to go to the beaches. If you took your own vehicle, the beach would be within 10-15mins drive. A pool was advertised as well as tennis coury, but the tennis coirt was rather dilapidated with a yacht anf kayaks stored on it, unevem surfave and padlocked. It doesn't look ad if its used anymore for tennis. The pool was refreshing but older and it appears that what was one resory had been split into several properties. I adkrd abouy using the pool and wad told it is on property to north and to br quiet and that the compendium needed uofating, so I was left unsure as to whether the pool was still useable by bungalow clients. This was contrary to what is advertised on the website. I wouldny call it a resort, but it is an affordable family getaway, especially if one likes nature, sitting on river, swimming and or fishing and boating on river.
Cheap cabins right on water. Perfect if u have a tinny and kids. Fishing crabbing and also would b good for s group. Very clean and cleanest BBQs ever seen. A little hidden gem. Boat ramp at location hardly used and walk around the corner to waterfront tavern BWS etc so very easy to manage meals👍. Worth a try for sure. We will return. Ask fir waterfront - number 20 is perfect location. Also has a pool and markets less then 3 minutes fir a Sunday morning shop. Great fruit and veggies etc.
First holiday staying in a bungalow / cabin setup. The room itself was average. Not 100% clean but was okay. Arrived at room with no washing up utilities ( washing liquid, cloth etc) went to reception and they advised it should of been there and provided additional. No soap for shower so had to have our own which wasn't advised prior to booking. All in all good short holiday. Got a bungalow on the river so that was a nice touch to the holiday. Great for a budget holiday. Would stay again.
Booked 4 nights had to leave after the first night. Having a 20 month old, we really needed a family friendly park where she could enjoy a swim. Pool filthy, river not that pleasant to swim in, cabin did not look like the cabin we looked at online (booking.com) we were itchy and it stank! the 'play pen' don't get me started! You wouldn't put your dog in it. The lady at reception was the only thing that was good, she was very kind and listened to our concerns and after speaking with management refunded us back our nights which was very good. Don't think we'll be returning in a hurry it's more just for the kayakers and not a resort for families. Such a shame because it has a great location!
Straight to the point. 1 bedrooms are actually studios. Tiny, small and some with no air con, so make sure you check it on arrival, no closed doors all open. We sanitised our rooms and wiped them down and it was FILTHY (everywhere). Beds and Mattresses all old, squeaky and stained and in one of our rooms we kept getting bites! Tennis/basketball courts overrun with weeds and cracks and the whole place is a dumping ground for row boats, kayaks, trailers. The pool looks suspect and tiny. Wouldn't go in there with a 10 ft barge pole. Laundry - good facilities, but you pay $4 a wash, which isnt too bad. But $4 for 20mins in the dryer is extortionate. (had to pay 3 times to get things dried) The best thing about that place is the staff in the shop that hire the kayaks etc, especially a girl from Brazil I think. Very friendly and courteous and always helpful! Could not fathom recommending this place to anyone.
What a complete let down. The website and the pictures are not an accurate image of what we were greeted by. The rooms at best would be better described as poor quality dongas. We booked the superior cabin and found the cabin was very run down and old. Rusty chairs and cabinets. Inadequate seating. Sofa ripped and broken. Rubbish still in the cabin so not cleaned very well. Our bed had no headboard and was leaning against the window blinds so was unable to sit up in bed without hitting the window . Our "garden view " would be best described as looking over the stinky swamp. The pathways around the grounds were also unkempt. No outside lighting at night. The pool was closed for the 2 days we were there. We decided to leave early as would prefer to be at home. DO NOT GO HERE AS YOU'LL BE DISAPPOINTED. I would rate this as a 2 star at best.
We stayed for 4 nights in a cabin on the waterfront. We had 2 jetskis which was why we picked the place. The lagoon goes straight out into the River, so the trip up and down the river is great. Also a great place to stay if you don't have watercraft, as it quiet and relaxing. Having the tavern within walking distance is also great.
Bungalow was modern with LCD TV and worn but comfy lounge. Small balcony overlooking pool was lovely with table and chairs provided. Garden and poolside neat and well appointed with secure fence and lounge chairs by pool. Great little kitchen with pots cutlery etc. kayaks and paddle boards available as yr right on the river. Only criticism would be the mossies so pack yr repellant.
What a wonderful place to unwind for a few days. A lovely tranquil spot next to a lovely Creek. We stayed in a superior 2 bedroom. Very clean, modern, extremely comfy beds and very well stocked with everything we needed for cooking etc. The grounds are lovely and it's just so peaceful. Did a spot of fishing off the jetty (no bites except for on us, don't forget the aeroguard haha) and it was beautiful when the sun was setting. Thank you to Kim, Jenny, Karen and the team for a very memorable time. We will be back !
