Stayed 1 night 13-9-2017 B & B I was attending a close friends funeral on 14th so stayed the night before, never again, I booked a table for dinner 19-15hrs the table I booked had been given to someone else, we got another table, I had British beef & ale pie £11.69, the pie crust was so hard I had a job to cut it there was only 4 bits of beef and the veg was awful, my friend had Hunters chicken,£10.29 the chicken was okay nothing special also veg awful. My friends husband picked her up to take her home at 9-15 pm, we had wanted to have a chat about the funeral as I was doing Eulogy we had known each other over 40yrs. I had the full English breakfast, the bean were awful re-heated the mushrooms were a soggy mess the egg was undercooked the sausage was okay which I eat along with the 2 hash browns the bacon was tuff and cover in white stuff which put me right off. The room was cold NO heating, The only good thing was the lady on reception who was nice and friendly. I did not complain at the time as I was upset and not looking forward to the funeral. several other residence said they were also cold and the heating should have been the night of 13th Sept was cold I paid £102.50 for one person for one night B & B certainly not worth it £60.00 would have been more than enough. Kind regards, Trevor Parsons.
Room OK and clean, food in style of a Berni but better cooked, service was erratic with long waits and staff stood chatting. Marked improvement after we complained but we should not really have to do that. Public areas were crowded with two weddings on successive days. Reasonable car parking but mind the speed bump at the entrance gates. I will not return.
Came to the cedars restaurant tonight for a meal and pretty appealed with the service. After the waiter quickly took our drinks order, we then waited 10 minutes for the drinks to arrive. After our food order was taken, we waiting approximately 25 minutes for our meals which were wrong. 2 of the same meal arrived when we ordered 1, our starters came out at the same time as the main meals, and some of our order didn't even arrive! Deciding not to say anything as couldn't be bothered with the hassle after already sending un-ordered dishes away, we ate the food which was nice overall. We then sat at the table for around half an hour after our meals talking and in this time nobody came over the check if we were OK or to clean the table or offer us a desert menu! When it came to paying, we had t wait for the staff to finish talking and laughing before we could be served to pay, our bill was incorrect and we were still charged for the extra meals which we didn't order! Overall, terrible service. Good food.
Great meals at good prices with good service. A little too hot in the conservatory but plenty of other tables to be moved to. Good selection of beers. Hotel has undergone a transformation for the better and will definitely go back.
Room clean and beautiful bathroom. Plenty of room for three us in a double room with a sofa bed. The breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. Lovely big place and gardens. Lots of different cereals, etc at the breakfast bar.
Had a recent stay here for a family function. The staff were very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The room was nice and spacious. Food and drink also was very nice. Plenty of parking. Would recommend - even better than I remembered from previous visits!
Down in Devon again, party at the Manor, with family and friend's staying at the Cedars again, as it's such a fabulous place, the chalet style rooms have all had an update since we were last here, they were good before, but are absolutely fantastic now, suprerking size beds with crisp white linen, huge TV on wall, superb shower in the well equipped bathroom, ours was over the bath, our family members above us was a latge walk in shower, both as owerful and hot, as usual a wonderful breakfast, and wonderful helpful friendly staff, may be dining there this evening just to see if the menu is as good as our last visits, which i am sure it will be, and yes will will be back again.
Was pleasantly surprised by our room as it looked quite ordinary from the outside. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was small but nicely laid out. Unfortunately Cedars is a large and busy hotel and the food suffers because of that. Dinner was ok at best but breakfast was very average. The staff were all friendly enough.
Room nice staff all apathetic didn't really care which was most apparent at breakfast (as this was in cluded we ate there everyday) service was pretty poor had to keep asking for coffee and wait time to be looked after and have orders taken terrible only has one evening meal there on the first night and quickly made our minds up not to eat there again service was bad for order wrong and wasn't a nice experience so many places in the area where we got treated better
Tucked away in a lovely garden with some beautiful purple hydrangeas some of the most lovely I'd seen. We ate a few meals at the pub and the carvery was superb ! Breakfast also top notch. Room clean and functional friendly staff over all a lovely stay ! Great location and close to the high street
