Ample free parking available upon arrival close to reception and rooms. Checking in was easy and pleasant. The rooms have recently received a makeover and they were great! Spacious and clean, good sized tv on the wall too! We had a meal in the restaurant on the first night and couldn’t fault it, the food was hot and arrived fairly quickly. The staff as always were very attentive but not annoying. The meal and service was that good we ate there most of our stay. Breakfast is great too, buffet to start and then something from the cooked menu ( full English was great!!) A pleasant stay in an ideal location! Will definitely use again and recommend to everyone. We drank in the bar most days and all of the staff we encountered were pleasant and made us feel very welcome.
Spent one night there on way through Devon whilst wishing to explore East side of North Devon. Main building with reception, bars and restaurant was buzzing with great atmosphere (7pm on a Friday). Reception very welcoming and rooms spacious, modern and 40 inch large flat screen TV. Dinner was good value and breakfast good quality. Having spent 9 days in hotels in Cornwall and Devon this was by far the best value- though location perhaps lacking - but great as s base for exploring. Book direct though own site for best price.
Lovely roast dinner and dessert ☺ its the best we had so far of any of the other places I've tried and just for £1 pound more then the others nice conservatory.without the cobwebs as described in other reviews on here would recommend highly 😎
Average food. No choice for vegetarians. Prosecco Friday but so sweet. No check back after food served. Generally quite dirty looking. Not impressed. Cobwebs everywhere but not Halloween decs. Won’t go back.
Visited cedars bar, at about 9.45 pm on a Thursday night with my daughter , for starters we couldn't find clean table to sit at, Having moved a few dead glasses & Sauce bottles, we got finally got some seats, Every table inside & outside the cedars was the same filthy, & needed clearing ... Right , now to order drinks , bar was all sticky from spilt drinks , then a scruffy bar person Took my drinks order , big mistake as it included a Guinness , he starts pouring it as if it was a glass of coke, when I tried to explain that there was a way to pour a Guinness he comments that no one else complains, so there you go, point to note cedars , if you can't pour it properly don't sell it. My next order included a brandy with ice & lemon , sorry no lemon came the reply. I give in......I noticed an adjacent table was also complaining about the service. Must do better Cedars as you have a great catchment area, you need more staff & they need training, in bar skills as well as customer service....
Ideal Location for us on the old road from Barnstaple to Bideford on a Bus route with Buses about every 10 mins or so in the Summer . Park your car in their Free car park , Check in and get the bus into Town or go to Bideford or Instow etc .Save money on car parking .(if you are an O.A.P ) Return to the Hotel have a drink or 2 in the Excellent Bar REAL ALE served here have an evening meal I had a PRAWN COCKTAIL that was so big I struggled to eat my Main Course. Then to Bed .Lovely crispy clean sheet . In the mornings we had excellent Buffet and cooked Breakfast.
My partner ordered a steak..to be fair was told it would be a 40 min wait even though the restaurant and bar wasnt busy..an hour later..he asked at the bar..still no food..he even had the cheek to ask for a free pint due to the wait..nothing..ok he enjoyed his steak but this was at 7.30pm..not late and not busy..and no recompense for waiting so long for one meal.
we booked a buffet which turned out to be very 1960s pub grub. Cold roast potatoes , unidentified sandwiches, some garlic bread and chicken goujons . That was about it. No drinks or sweets or salad. It was worth a couple of quid each tops but we had paid £15. Shame on them and shame on me.
This was a stay booked to visit family, I was with my sister in law. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well appointed the rooms were. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom (complete with bath) was a dream, and warm on a chilly night. We enjoyed a well cooked breakfast in the morning and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly.
Half a dozen of us stayed here with a view to playing Saunton and Royal North Devon, both some 8 miles away. Large comfortable rooms in a courtyard complex ; good bathrooms & BTV. Decent bar, good full English in the package and the one evening meal we ate in the hotel was of a reasonable pub standard. Overall, pretty good stay...
