Stayed at Best Western Tiverton for third time last night. Had booked online and had room in the "Executive Wing" of the hotel. Large room with King Size bed, dressing gowns, iron and ironing board in room, had we needed them. Also in room was a large desk should we have required one. We ate in the bar area as we didn't want full restaurant meal. The food we ordered was well cooked and presented and good value.
We were very impressed with this hotel. The staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful. When asked they readily provided another vegetarian option for the evening meal. The breakfast choice was good and everything was hot . The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated.
My husband and myself have been in this hotel for food and drinks many times without a problem on our last few visits thing have been going down hill we had a roast lunch the patatoes were full of grease the veg was cold and soggy we mentioned it to the waitress she said she would let the chef no but we didn't get a response so didn't want to cauce a fuss so we left
This was the fourth time we had chosen to stay at the Tiverton Hotel but the first time with our new dog. Although it wasn't clear on the website whether dogs are accepted in the rooms , a quick phone call confirmed we could upgrade to a dog friendly room for an extra £10 which is the same as travelodge but a much nicer room. We were very impressed that upon arrival in the room they had provided a dog blanket , bowl and some doggy treats. We were not expecting that and it was a nice touch. The room was up to the usual excellent standard; clean, modern and with a very comfy king size bed. There was also an enormous bath although we didn't get chance to use it. There was a nice grassy area with a stream at the back of the hotel which was great for walking the dog. We have never been disappointed by this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.
After spending a delightful afternoon on the Tiverton barge celebrating my mother's 75th birthday, 5 friends and family decided to visit Tiverton Hotel for a spot of late lunch. There were 5 of us at around 5 pm and the place was empty. The chap on reception was very helpful and said he'd ask the chefs if they would agree to let us have something from the bar menu which they duly did. He handed-over to his female colleague at the bar and returned to reception as he was expecting a coach party to arrive. Despite the place being empty, our order was never taken. In fact we hadn't a clue where the bar lady/waitress had gone so my brother and I waited at the bar. When she did finally turn up behind the bar to take our order, it's fair to say that it was all too confusing for her. I will explain - my mother and I have very small appetites, my daughter has coeliac disease (no, not an intolerance, a disease). My mother and I ordered scampi and fish and chips respectively but asked if we could have them in a small portion. My aunt and brother asked for the same but in normal sized portions. My daughter had to have a toasted sandwich because all they had was gluten free bread. Even the chips had gluten in them. So, computer said no re the smaller portions. The supervisor's permission had to be sought. I was told that yes, I could have a small scampi but no, my mother couldn't have a small fish and chips. Why not we queried? It involves using the smallest piece of fish you have, less chips and less veg but no, that was absolutely not possible. My brother exclaimed about the level of customer service and was abruptly told 'it's not my fault' in a very defensive manner. Eventually our food arrived and it was actually quite tasty. However, despite the protestations of the supervisor that my mother was not allowed a small piece of fish, she actually received a piece half the size of my auntie's. Therefore, why was she now allowed to have this in the first place? To top it all off, my daughter was glutened. We have no clue by what, perhaps a salad dressing, we have no idea but she spent the rest of the night being sick with horrendous stomach cramps. I'm actually quite appalled by the lack of service and inflexibility we received. We were 5 people. The chefs had agreed we could stay. I would have understood if we were an unexpected coachload of tourists but we weren't. We asked for 2 normal meals, 2 small meals and a sandwich. I could do that at home standing on my head. In years gone by I have waitressed and done bar work as has my brother, daughter and mother. Never, ever would I speak to a customer like this and never ever shall we return. The only good thing about this place was the lovely guy on reception when he came in. He deserves some recognition for his customer care skills. In future, I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone. There are so many nicer places to choose around the surrounding villages.
Although these hotel rooms are dated they are clean and have more plus sides than minus. The room is spotless and cleaned everyday, teas and coffees well stocked , we didn't have to ask for any more like most hotels, towels were lovely and soft and bed comfortable. The staff are brilliant, very polite and helpful, I would like to add that the waitress who served our evening meal on Mon 7th August was exceptional and made our meal special, sorry I didn't get her name. The food in the hotel restaurant is good, breakfast could be better e.g fried egg-real mushrooms but that's my personal like. On the whole we had a lovely stay here and can recommend. A refurb would make it 5 star!
Went here for a wedding. Not very good. Why would you make the bride change rooms if the one she was in the night before her wedding was bigger than the one you call bridal suite?? They have moved her room for a bigger one. Also we had to call down to reception to see if we could have a free bottle of prosecco for the bride. When she called down the morning of her wedding to get some breakfast delivered to her room she was told that she would be charged 5 pounds! Dont know what kind of hotel you run but i know i will not recommend it to anyone. And not to talk about the wedding breakfast... Even though the bride had given you the list of names and menu choices you still didnt know what people were having. Half of the top table didnt had any prosecco for the toast. One of the bridesmaids had to go get a bottle and pour it. Just really bad service and experience.
Large comfortable rooms with everything you need and good linen, good shower too. Staff are always helpful, especially at breakfast, which is high quality, and they give a very personal service. Excellent atmosphere – though the decor is bland and unexciting, the overall effect is very relaxing.
We used this hotel for one night on our way back from Cornwall. Nice hotel with good sized rooms. Restaurant and bar were both very good with good quality food. It is a three star so thats what you get. However, the hotel is in, what appears to be, an industrial area with roads around it that seem to draw all the boy racers in cars with loud exhausts blasting out till the early hours. Not the hotels fault and to be fair we had our windows open, as it was a very warm night. I just do not understand how they get away with it by the police? Do they not stop this noise pollution? So it was a Saturday night too, so I guess that did not help. But the hotel is good and the town is too.
I visited Tiverton Hotel on 22nd May 2017 with my husband. Upon checking in at the Reception, we were asked to input our car registration into a screen on the desk which we did accordingly. On 24th June 2017, I was then surprised to receive a parking ticket for £60 if paid for within 14 days or £100 thereafter. After contacting the Manager of the hotel, he offered his sympathy, but could only suggest that the ticket was appealed (this is his hotel for goodness sake)! He went on to say that he would support the Appeal and offered a free overnight stay, by way of compensation. The ticket was duly Appealed and declined. The matter has been appealed further to POPLA, but I received a call today from Rhys Roberts the Manager, stating that this too has been declined. This is disgraceful and in my opinion, nothing but a scam! Jeanne Churchill
