It was convenient, priced right, but there we're a few cleanliness issues. The sheets had burn holes in them and the bathroom smelled a little like an Amsterdam canal. Then again I've been in way worse places. The staff there was super nice and informative about the area we were staying in. I would say there again for the convenience but maybe give them a heads up about the issues I had prior.
sheets/room service is every other day, no replacement of soap bars and absolutely no shampoo provided. But the sheets were clean and it's cheep so if price matters this is what u get. Stayed here twice knowing that it's not the best but the price is....
Is an older run down hotel, I stayed 10 nights and the only way I got past the old smelly bathroom was to buy odor eliminating spray to use all over the room. I had to spray it multiple times throughout my stay to keep it from smelling like mildew or something. But if you just want a cheep motel, at least the carpet was new and sheets were clean. As long as you stay on first floor, I'm told up stairs was not remodeled yet. However, they haven't touched the old bathroom and in my opinion they need to. I will not stay there again personally.
I chose to stay here for three reasons: It was close to Drake University. It had free internet access. And I didn't read any reviews that said the place was a pig sty. When I got here, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning was easily adjustable to just the way I like it (extremely cold). This was a great place to stay, and I wouldn't mind coming here again at all. My only complaint, however, is that the Internet connection was extremely poor. I had to sit at the bathroom faucet to get a signal. Don't plan on steaming any movies or shows while you're here.
Good place to sleep, which is all I wanted.
It was great for the price I only didnt like two things they didnt have a iron and they felt they need to tell me that they had police officers for there security.
The hotel is located in a fairly run down part of Des Moines. But it was very quiet even though there were many adult supervised children checking in. The room was quite small and smelled of cleaning chemicals (is that good or bad). With only an anolog TV I am not sure how they plan to deal with the digital changover. I had to set my watch to wake me as there was no clock radio (there was no clock!) and no one on the desk at 5:30 AM. Mostly the motel was inconvenient which is a pain after a long day's drive.
No continental breakfast as advertised. Did not even get a credit for the nearby resteraunt. Non smoking and smoking rooms too close together. Hallway smelled like smoke. Not worth the $50. It is more like a $30 room. Internet connection was slow and the signal was weak. If all you are looking for is a room, then you could probably get one cheaper and get the same amenities. No shampoo or conditioner. Need to bring your own.
