Overall the property is very nice. I debated on 5 all across, but there were a few things that dropped me from excellent. Cleanliness was dropped because the carpet in the breakfast area still had food on it when we checked in. Maintenance because the room door would not open or close without force, the sink drained slow and the caulk where the countertop joined the backsplash had separated. All issues that can be resolved quickly with the right maintenance team.

It's a nice stay...

The hotel is nice. Better than most in the surrounding area (believe me, we have tried them all) We have stayed here multiple times. I think its getting a little worn down and the employees are not as good as in the past but overall, its a comfortable stay. More expensive than surrounding hotels because in the beginning they were the best place to stay but they are slowly becoming mediocre as compared to the price. Still, the only place I will stay at in Altoona. If you dont need to travel to Illinois and don't care to be close to a casino... I would definitely stay in Des Moines. For the price, you could be at the Four Seasons lol...
