We had a room at the front with sea views and looking out over the pier. The room was well appointed with a bath in the room, tables and chairs and a large walk in shower. Bed was comfortable and soft. The bar was well stocked and cosy.
Ok so where do I start? I feel like I'm going to write about a completely different Hotel to the majority of reviews on here. I'm guessing people must have stayed in a completely different Hotel and the reviews have got mixed up. This is not what you can class to be a hotel. It's a bar with rooms , it's very disappointing when you go through the main entrance to be greeted by a flight of lino clad steep stairs, a bar to the right and a door to an Indian restaurant in front of you... apparently reception is on the second floor well when you get to the top of the stairs you're met with a fire door lots of other doors but I couldn't see a reception anywhere. ( a couple of other reviews mentioned bikes being lifted up and down the stairs.... seriously?) My friend had checked us in, so from there on we didn't see any other staff anywhere- no jolly, funny, entertaining very helpful staff other people have mentioned. Our room was ok what made it was the sea view , that was it . As others have said the furniture was somewhat cheap, the decor starting to get a little bit shabby and a terrible night sleep due to the beds being incredibly lumpy and uncomfortable . The breakfast can't be classed as a breakfast a few tubs of cereal, a pint of milk in the fridge and bottle of water , Alpen cereal bars plastic bowl and spoons. There was a kettle to make tea and coffee which was supplied... how have other people marked this as five star? The photo sums up our stay, the emergency fire directions stuck to the door with sellotape, which kept falling off. If you want hotel with a decent breakfast, good service and friendly staff there are other places in Deal available.
What can I say but brilliant Great price great location and great staff. I've stayed all over the country. And I actually loved this place more then 250 a night places. The staff were funny and helpful and I will be coming back. Even thou I had a broken leg and my misses had a hand in cast I still managed to get around the hotel fine. Anyone who's ever complained about this for value and other things need to just stay at home cos no one wants to see there misarable faces anyway. Great value and great company. The home from home. Keep up the good work. And ps stay away from the moonshine next door;)🤔😭😭😭😭
We stayed for 1 night this October. We were pleasantly surprised. Our room was a reasonable size, very clean and attractively decorated. Our bed was very comfy and the room was a very comfortable temperature thanks to the aircon. Our room was at the back of the hotel so didn’t have a great view but that was fine, we were only in a budget room. We weren’t affected by noise from the bar or the Indian restaurant at the back. The bathroom was very clean. Just be aware that they don’t really do breakfasts, they did supply some cereal in the room and a bottle of milk in the fridge, however that was frozen!! This didn’t bother us too much as there are some great cafes in Deal that serve a good breaky
When we originally arrived we were a little worried that it was going to be a noisy night as the hotel sits on top of the bar. However we should not have been worried. We had a lovely stay, great bar, friendly service, comfortable and quiet room. Would stay again. it is ideal for when walking the England Coast path as this on the same road!
The Clarendon is a lovely hotel . The room I stayed in was great ( Goodwin ) , sea view , really clean and comfortable and the beds are really comfortable also . It’s great value for money given the size of the room , the view and facilities - excellent . The reception staff are really friendly, kind and helpful and there’s an Indian restaurant attached to the hotel which is really good . One of the best places I have stayed in and a fab position on Deal promenade with direct views of the pier and seconds from the beach , town and other restaurants
Stayed for one night in the Cabin suite. Entrance is a front door on the main road next to the hotel main entrance. Clean and bright and decorated in a nautical theme and very comfortable. Nice big bathroom with walk in shower. Only drawback is the sound of what I presume is the hotel boiler that if you're a light sleeper could disturb your sleep. The hotel provides cereal and milk but there are loads of places to have a fuller breakfast in Deal. There is no on site parking but there is a public car park at the rear of the hotel although, you can only pay for 4 hrs parking at a time, between 9 and 5. There is also a nice bar to have a drink in. Price was very reasonable and I would stay again.
I recently stayed at the Clarendon with a friend on a mini cycling trip. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We were allowed to take our bikes up to our room as there was nowhere safe to park them overnight and, not only that, we were helped to carry them up and down the stairs, which was a little challenging! The rooms had been recently redecorated and ours had a lovely clean, fresh, airy feel about it. All the fixtures and fittings co-ordinated. The beds were comfortable and we had a sea view. The icing on the cake was the Asian restaurant that is attached to the hotel. We’d looked around Deal to see where we might have our evening meal, but nothing had jumped out at us. So we were very pleasantly surprised on discovery that we just needed to go down the stairs and through a door to find ourselves in the restaurant. It was very busy so the service was slow, but the food was delicious and worth waiting for. I would definitely return to this hotel.
I enjoyed my stay here, the hotel room (The Goodwin Suite) was lovely, the beach view was perfect. I would class this a small boutique bar/hotel so don’t be surprised if there’s no one there to carry your suitcases or to aquaint you with your room. Parking is not great, the main car park behind the hotel only lets you pay for four hours during the day (I slept in & got a ticket!) and the 24hr car park nearby was limited on spaces. That said, these are not major issues and as I’ve said, I really enjoyed my stay here and would certainly book again.
Stayed in room 3 sea view lovley stay nice little bar with nice bar man sorry forgot your name would deffo stay there again if we ever vist deal again lots of nice bars around and eating places love walk along sea front to the band memorial stand
