Few hotels make me wish I could stay another day. This one did. Friendly staff and clean clean clean. The pool was nice and the fitness room was a welcome addition. The beds and room features were as you would expect but more comfortable tha what I expect at this price point.
Came back for an alumni reunion, and tried the Hampton for the first time. The only rooms available were 2 queen rooms (I prefer a king), so I settled for that. The bed was long enough, although a little cozier than I'm used to, and spouse had trouble tossing & turning without hitting me. Otherwise the room worked fine - good internet, quiet enough despite facing an exit ramp from the interstate. My main peeve (and this goes for almost every Hilton I've ever stayed in) is that there' no place to hang a towel in the bathroom. There are little pegs over the toilet, which can hold a hand towel, but all the bath towels fell off when I tried to put them there - good thing they missed the toilet when they fell. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, although the turkey sausages were like eating smoked sawdust. And I like that coffee's available 24/7. Minor complaints aside, a nice place and I'll happily stay there again.
Nice location great staff great amenities Easy access to the highway Comfortable and good breakfast Staff was very willing to help with anything and the lobby was big enough so there was no crowding. Good place to stay for business.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was great. Breakfast was hot and tasty. I didn't do much else at the facility, but it was well maintained. The business center was also nice and after you log out of the computer, it clears your information.
Quiet hotel. Basic rooms but huge. Wifi works fine. There is a gym and a swimming pool. Breakfast is very basic with some omelet, bread and some fruits. An appropriate place gor a short stay. Don't expect nothing more than normal.
There is nothing special about Brookings' Hampton Inn but given its location within less than a mile from the I-29 freeway, less than three miles from the campus of South Dakota State University, and not much more than that to the city's small downtown, it is ideally located for anyone coming to the area and needing a nice place to spend a night or two. All Hampton Inns tend to be on the upscale side of the industry and this one is no exception. The rooms and the bedding are both especially comfortable, the breakfast every morning more than just filling, and the "extras" like a decent-sized swimming pool and/or weight room welcoming. No one will go wrong by searching for and staying at the Hampton in Brookings. We were glad we did.
First off, Shawna at the front desk was killing it - super helpful and friendly, accommodating and just easy to work with all around. The service was great. We were in town for a family wedding and just staying one night, but the room was great, very spacious for our 2 queen suite with a sofa bed. Slept our family of 6 with no problem. Breakfast the next morning was good, and somehow Shawna was still there! Thanks for a great stay!
The staff was very friendly! The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The breakfast area was clean and well kept. We enjoyed the pool area, no one else was there. A great place to stay when traveling around South Dakota!
The hotel was very clean. The rooms are furnished well. The bed was comfortable, better than most hotels. The staff was pleasent and helpful. Really, the stay was great and we would be happy to return. The only negative was the price was on the high side but so were other hotels in the area.
We stayed for one night in a two queen suite. Check in was fast and friendly. Our room had plenty of elbow space for our party of four. We had a small wet bar area with mini fridge and microwave, an armchair, a sofa, coffee table, desk with chair, the two queen beds and luggage benches along the foot of each bed. The bathroom was typical for this style of room; sink area open to the room, toilet and tub in a separate small room. The layout and furnishings were very typical of this room category in about a dozen other Hampton Inns that we have stayed at across the country. The room was clean, but the furnishings were a bit worn looking. The luggage benches both had stains on them. The couch was more comfortable and less creaky than some sofas we've had in other hotels, but this one was still dated looking and a bit dingy. The comfort of the beds and the pillows get high marks, however. The pool was nice and they had some pool toys/noodles for people to use. The next morning, only one of our group made it to breakfast. She reported that it was typical Hampton Inn fare. She also said that at 10 am sharp the staff quickly closed up the doors to the area where the food was served, so don't expect to creep in at 10:01 and grab something. There is a gas station with convenience store right next door. An Applebee's is on the other side of the hotel and Whiskey Creek Wood Fire Grill is just down the street. Once the local road construction is sorted out, this hotel is convenient to US-14 and I-29. In the end, this is a typical Hampton Inn that just didn't stand out. Not the best we've stayed at, but certainly not the worst either.
