The stay was a difficult one for several reasons.
The front desk staff were fairly friendly but clearly responsible for many things besides check-in and check-out, so they often were not available when needed (I waited in the lobby 45 minutes to get my suddenly-not-working key card fixed).
The room was in substandard condition—two holes in the walls (about an inch long each), toilet was dirty, and there weren’t any eating utensils in the kitchen. All of the appliances worked, but what good is it to heat up my dinner without a plate and utensils? I had reserved Extended Stay specifically for the kitchen, but it no utensils made it heat to use (and eat!). Also, no tissue dispenser in the bathroom; I used toilet paper to blow my runny nose. It’s a small thing, but it really showed the lack of service given for the price paid.
The hotel public areas were also not as clean as I’ve seen at other hotels, and I found a metal bracket and screw just lying in the hallway outside my room; I left it at the front desk concerned someone would step on it and hurt themselves.
Finally, the free breakfast was dry oatmeal, hot water, and granola bars. I’ve paid less to other hotels and gotten a hot breakfast. Overall, this was way below an “average” hotel experience for me, and I have traveled a lot! I’ve also stayed at other Extended Stay hotels and had a very good experience, so this time was doubly disappointing.
I won’t stay at this particular hotel again.
