As a Marriott platinum elite member who has been staying at the Marriott Danbury Connecticut courtyard for every weekend from may to September for the past 5 years, I was appalled at the lack of professionalism exhibited by the management. When I questioned the greatly increased rate for the 2018 summer, I was sent a condescending tutorial note explaining the rates changed at hotels and airlines. Instead of providing some type of incentive for us to continue our long standing relationship with this hotel, the GM did nothing and his remarks were not of the standard I have come to expect from the Marriott brand. He seems to have forgotten he is in the hospitality business.
3rd strike on this place in so many years. Always an issue. Recent stay shower had scolding hot water (would not cool) or cold water in the am. Many guests on my team experienced the same with cold showers. The bed was painfully soft, like sleeping on a taco...you keep rolling to the middle. No one seems to care when you bring up the issues. Just “we can send maintenance” who was not on site Monday night at 11:30PM. This hotel needs some serious renovations
Both staff and accommodations at Marriott properties are always great and this one was no exception. The decor was very modern and the bed and pillows were comfortable as always. I love that Marriott provides different kinds of pillows on request as I'm pretty particular about them! The small sofa and foot rest were great, and I love the table that pulls our from under the computer desk as it is perfect for eating take out food or spreading out all of my maps for planning the next day's drive. Staff was pleasant and check-in and check-out were quick and easy. I do miss the free breakfast I get at other Marriott properties bu recognize that Courtyard is set up for business travelers on expense account and the Bistro meets their needs.
Loved our stay here. Our room was ready, clean and typical Courtyard excellent layout. Was a good choice for our stop en route to upstate NY the next day. Friendly, efficient staff. Would like to see Platinum members receive breakfast like at other Marriott properties.
Arrived here Friday night with no reservations from over in NY State, where it was Parents Weekend with no rooms to be had. What luck! As late walkins we used a coupon for a great rate. Lovely big King room with a very comfortable bed. Clean, modern facility with plenty of parking. Good free internet connection. Very popular- there were 4 Weddings on over the weekend we stayed. We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing night. Thanks Marriott. We ate at the Black Angus just a minutes walk across the car park - recommended. Only minus point is that breakfast wasn't included. Highly recommend this Hotel.
I came here last year and had some issues only with miscommunication with staff. This time I got the regular room and had zero complaints, the room is modern, clean and spacious. The room also has a ton of power outlets which is amazing, you can charge everything you have on a bunch of different places! A lot of hotels still only run on 1 power outlet behind the TV. I had to give a special praise to Greg from front desk. I have been dealing with hotels for a very long time, from every price range and let me tell you, that man is one of the most courteous and professional individual I have ever encountered. He gave me great notes about the hotel and local dining options, greeted me with a friendly smile and helped me during the check in process. I hope they take notes and treasure this man. I see they have new eateries around here, not to my liking really but everything is close by. I think the bathroom/shower could be renovated a bit and Courtyards really need to start adding microwave ovens to the rooms, wasting food because you didn't have a place to reheat it afterwards is not "hip" ... but that's just me being extra picky. I am pretty sure that if they keep this hotel running smoothly like this I have no reason to find another place to stay when I come visit family in Danbury.
Stayed one night as part of a wedding group. Check in was fast and efficient-friendly staff. Quick elevators up to our 3rd floor room(hotel is 4 stories). Quite large w comfy bed, large bathroom w nice amenities. Big bonus was we had a patio!(just by chance I later learned-there's not many rooms with them. Lobby has neat vending/snack area where you can buy a soda, beer or even a frozen pizza. Also has breakfast bar area that I didn't use. Also has a smallish pool. Only negatives were water pressure on low side and insufficient anti-slip floor in shower(important to us older guests) Other than that a great hotel for the money. Also, there's a great steakhouse sharing the parking area!
Quick overnight stay. Arrived late and greeted by cheery and helpful desk clerk. Room was spacious, liked the comfy sofa in the room, however decor and overall feel to the room was dark. Beds were very comfortable. What prompts the three star rating is the large crack in the bathroom floor. Very noticable to fix. This does not seem like a Marriott standard. At check out, once again front desk staff sent us off with a smile. We snagged a Starbucks coffee in the lobby for $2.50 which was a nice convenience as we checked out. Overall, good hotel.
My family spent 4 days at the Courtyard Danbury recently during travel for a death in the family. The staff of the hotel is universally good. This was a stressful time for me and I was treated with compassion and understanding. In particular I would like to thank Tony and the Bistro team. They kept us fed and full of coffee. I stay in Courtyard hotels 25-30 days a year. This particular property is run very well. It is more like a high-end stay. It looks like other CY's but with a lot of effort made towards the guest.
We booked this hotel on points recently and used it as a base for touring the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. We will definitely come back to the area to visit, as there is so much to see and do - e.g. the Walkway Over the Hudson State Park (apparently the longest, elevated pedestrian bridge in the world which spans the Hudson River). A word about the hotel - it was simply amazing. The room was huge - we had the 2 Queen bed room, with sofa bed and it was like a large suite. It was spotlessly clean and the staff were were superb. Very friendly, and they accommodated us with a late checkout when our son wasn't feeling well. Breakfast is not included in the room rate. They had an in-house restaurant, which we didn't try. There is no room safe. Two thumbs up to this excellent establishment. We would definitely stay here again.
