The hotel was nice and clean. The location was good as it was located close to the city center. The entrance level to the hotel on floor was contained the concierge. Check-in was accomplished on the 8th floor. This was a bit awkward to me, but the hotel was nice and clean. Wifi left a lot to be desired. The signal was week in the room. The elevators were slow. It took room service more than 29 minutes to bring ice to the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.
I was in Daegu for a conference but the conference booked up early, so I went with Novotel. They hold the upper two-thirds of tall building (I think levels 8-23) so the view is nice. It is directly across the street from a park and from about 8-10 square blocks of shopping and food. Most people in the area speak some English, which cannot be said about all the of city, so non-Korean speakers will find this helpful when wanting to visit restaurants. The first night was very rainy and so I spent the evening watching TV--good assortment of channels in multiple languages. The concierge was always eager to order a taxi for me, but actually they line up outside all day/night and are faster. I wish concierge would suggest this as an option. I was given good advice on visiting Apsan Park when I said I wanted an afternoon of local hiking in the hills. The breakfast was quite expensive at about $31 US, although they evidently hand out 20% off coupons to everybody....why not just reduce the price instead? Good was average--not bad, but not awesome either.
Only major chain hotel in Taegu. Hotel is great, with good location, outstanding staff and good rooms with nice amenities. Staff at check in were super, taking care of things in first rate, professional manner. Only complaint that I have for this hotel, is the relatively poor service for their 8th floor restaurant,. Food is good, price is reasonable (for buffet), but service needs great improvement (for dinner). Breakfast service is better, but still good be better. Would come again, but hope improvements are made for restaurant service.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Novotel Daegu City Centre hotel. The location was great and the rooms and staff were excellent too.
This is a nicely located hotel. The buffet breakfast is lovely. However, I will say that the amenities listed on this company's website do not match the hotel. There is no pool and the Standard Room has no bath tub. There was a lot of confusion about this upon check in. The staff seemed shocked about this (even when I showed them the website). I was given a voucher to use the sauna for one day in lieu.
The hotel is very nice and very comfortable. The staff was wonderful. My computer was having issues and they were kind enough to let me borrow a laptop to finish work since I couldn't get my computer fixed in time. Will definitely stay when I have to come back to this area. Daegu is a great city as well.
This is an excellent hotel. Spotless, everything looks brand new, perfect location. The rooms are HUGE and the view we had was stunning. We stayed here twice during our trip, and both rooms we stayed in were really excellent. The only thing that I noticed that could use improvement is the consistency of the staff. Some had impeccable English and great service, especially the concierge. Others were barely understandable. One glitch we experienced was when we wanted to order a glass of wine. We were told twice that the hotel did not sell wine by the glass and that only bottles were sold. This was repeated to us on 2 occasions both by the bar staff and later by the room service staff. We thought, seriously, you can't buy a glass of wine at this hotel? This must be a mistake. We did speak to a manager, who helped us and took care of it. He was very apologetic. It seems like it could be a communication issue, but I spoke to the staff in Korean, so not sure what the issue was. Given that, we still feel like this is an amazing hotel, and we will stay here again when we travel to Daegu. The one thing that would bring the level of the hotel up is to have a more consistent level of service among all the staff.
