My husband and I stayed here for six nights while visiting our son. This hotel is impeccably clean; the room was large and well equipped; and the staff was unfailingly courteous and helpful. We had a problem understanding how to operate Korean ATM's, and asked at the desk for advice and the desk agent actually went with us to the lobby next door and showed us what to do. We also asked the concierge to get us a cab to the Samsung Lions stadium and when the cab driver didn't know where it was the concierge got in the cab and programmed his GPS! This was an excellent stay in every way.
The Novotel is one of the best-located hotels in Daegu! It is right across the street from the main shopping district. It is European in style, which means you'll have a bed on a mattress and full size towels (not always the case in Korea!). The rooms are spacious and clean. A little pricey compared to some other places in town, but worth it! The front desk was very helpful in booking bus tickets (and even printing the tickets) and taxis for us!
We stayed here for two weeks in a Superior King room. A decent size bedroom with a large bed, desk and chair, couch as well as a bathroom. Free wifi, although that was somewhat temperamental in how it performed. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Lifts require patience. Overall a good place to stay.
Well situated and excellent staff. Convenient for the subway, though not so handy for Dongdaegu Station (where the express arrives and departs) Comfortable rooms and a good fitness suite - unfortunately the pool is outdoors and wasn't open.
This is the only international brand hotel in Daegu. It is located right next to the Jungangno subway station entrance which is very handy. I really enjoyed my stay. The room was a good size with a great view (19th floor). My package included full buffet breakfast, happy hour and access to the Executive lounge on the 22nd floor. My room was very clean and the bed and linen was of good quality. Housekeeping replaced the mineral water (2 bottles) every day free of charge which was very handy. Breakfast was an absolute feast every morning. The variety was great. I really enjoyed happy hour each night as well where delicious light snacks and red/white wine were included in the price. The only downside is that I would have really enjoyed a bath tub in my room given the room price. Also, as an Accor member I did not get any points for staying as I booked through a travel / tour company. I was effectively forced to book through this company as a result of the WMACi Champs (which I was a participant of). I tried to book directly through the hotel as an Accor member but that was not very successful. I felt it was unfortunate that I lost out on 7 nights' accommodation points as an Accor member because I was forced to book through a travel agent. Maybe Accor can relook their rules in these instances, where a direct booking is not possible due to a very large event being hosted. But overall, I had an excellent say at this hotel.
The location is great, right in the heart of the city. You can walk to Seomun market, where you can find all types of street food, textile goods, etc. Across the street from the hotel is a lovely memorial park, with trees, walkways and monuments to various events and people. When you cross the busy street it is best to go down into the underground mall entrance just in front of the hotel, walk through the mall and up the stairs on the other side of the street. You might notice that nobody is crossing the street on the surface. Past the park down the side streets there is a vibrant area of restaurants and shops where you can find meals of all types. Now to the hotel... The facility is modern and clean. The restaurant has a very nice breakfast buffet, but lunch and dinner buffets are rather overpriced. The fitness center is really good. And there's a spa also. Rooms are large and have a refrigerator (not sure if all of them do). Staff are friendly and helpful.
Great hotel in Daegu. Probably the best but it was my first visit so that is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. Very convenient to downtown pedestrian ways. Also it is at the station of the subway and underground shopping center. Fantastic for shopping. When I come back I will stay here.
Very good to great hotel overall. Location is perfect, many restaurants and shopping spots within walking distance. Rooms were adequate but need an update for sure. Room service is timely and great service. All of the staff is outstanding, very friendly and great customer service.
Positives: - Really large room - Large shower - Amazing breakfast - it was included in our rate and would definitely do that again. The variety of food was astounding and it was all really delicious. The best breakfast we had in South Korea - Great location - really close to shopping, public transport options and a variety of food options - Staff were helpful when we asked for assistance - they even provided Korean written information for taxi drivers - Really comfortable bed Negatives: - the walls had been scuffed - but really that is just being a bit fussy - sometimes we had to wait a long time for the lift.
The good things: The room is good size, well laid out and reasonably clean; although, the carpet appears to have seen better days in spots. The room includes a few 110v outlets to accommodate travelers from the US, which is very helpful. The bed is comfortable. They provide a hot water kettle and 2 bottles of water every day. The staff are friendly. The not so good things: The lighting is terrible. Without natural daylight, there is not enough light in the room - just 5 small spotlights on the ceiling in the main part of the room and 2 small reading lights, which are not bright. The snake neck lamps above the bed don't work because their own weight makes the lamp hang too low. I traveled to Daegu in early March as the weather was changing between winter to spring. The temperatures outside were in the 55-65F range. The hotel had no air conditioning during this time of year. They told me to open one small window (approx 12"X20") and brought a fan. Not the most comfortable for sleeping, especially. The fitness center hours are not accommodating for business travelers. It doesn't open until 6am. Event though I haven't bothered to watch it, the TV is tiny for the size of the room. It is a flat screen, but quite small for this day and age.
