Our second visit to the Angus, once again very helpful and friendly staff. Good quality breakfast and dog made welcome. Found it convenient for the Hadrian's Wall Walk. Dog not allowed in the dining room (quite rightly) and not wanting to leave her in the room alone, we ate in the pub just across the road. Not far from town if you want to walk in.

My partner and I stayed here for 1 night to go to a comedy gig at the Sands Centre. The location was perfect for a 10 minute stroll to the Sands Centre and 15 minutes to town. This bed and breakfast is spotlessly clean-the carpets looked freshly vacuumed and the appearance was of the decor was fresh. Nice comfy bed and a peaceful nights sleep as the hotel is so quiet. Rooms and bathroom a decent size. We had breakfast included which the proprietors ask you to pre-order the night before which really helps to efficiency and I assume reduces wastage which I'm all for! The English breakfast was delicious, not greasy at all and there were also cereals etc. to choose from. Very pleasant staff. Would recommend to anyone visiting Carlisle.

Decent location for walking hadrians wall route. Rooms are clean and basic. Bathrooms are small and compact - not particularly luxurious but were clean. Landlady was helpful. Breakfast was fine. Pack lunches were quite average - the contents were fine but the sandwiches were quite average.

We stayed here half way through our ride along Hadrian's Cycleway. The hotel provided good secure storage for our bikes as well as a clean and comfortable room. The hotel has been tastefully developed by the current owners; the sitting room is particularly nice. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. A good breakfast was served and the evening meals looked fine although we chose to walk into Carlisle centre, only 10 mins away, to find a restaurant. Overall the Angus is comfortable and good value, with a very friendly welcome.

My son and I did the Hadrian's Wall Path in April 2017 and found this hotel to be ideal for the start of our journey. We were walking west to east so we actually spent a few nights here. We took the train up from London on day one. The next day was a rest day (long trip from USA) and we toured the sites in Carlisle. The following day we took the bus over to Bowness-on-Solway and hiked back to Carlisle. The next morning we proceeded east and continued on the path. So we stayed 3 nights in all. Overall we were very pleased with the Angus. The room was clean, and the breakfast was tasty and plentiful. The hotel is owned by a husband and wife team. Rachel is a very nice lady and very helpful. Her husband, however, is not very friendly and never made us feel welcome. Other than that, the only other annoyance was the arrangement of the bathroom in our room. The toilet is right up against the wall on one side and the shower is right up near the toilet on the other side leaving very little room to sit properly. Also while standing in that small space, I was constantly knocking the toilet paper off its holder because they have it located right where your shoulders are while squeezed into this tiny space. Very odd! In the end these issues would be considered "annoyances", and I would still recommend the Angus as a great option while walking Hadrian's Wall.

A real hidden gem. Nice little hotel in a convenient location near to good local pubs and restaurants. Rooms were spotlessly clean as was the whole place. Breakfast was delicious, my husband especially liked the full cooked option. Staff couldn't have been more helpfull and welcoming. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Super value form money, excellent bedrooms which are spotlessly clean and tge hosts are extremely helpful. Bedrooms at the back are much quieter as the road noise can be quite intrusive. Excellent quality cooked breakfast good wifi connectivity and very convenient for Carlisle. This hotel has not disappointed on a number of visits and it didn't disappoint this time. Highly eecomended

This was our third visit to the Angus, because we have always found it to be comfortable, and we get a friendly welcome from Rachel (Proprietor). Breakfast can be relied upon to sustain you with a range of cereals on offer, plus a selection of fruits, nuts, seeds and yoghurt. For those with a hearty appetite, I would recommend the full english breakfast which is cooked to perfection. No parking on site unfortunately, but Rachel will provide you with a pass to put in your car, if you wish to park in the public carpark, just a short distance up the road.

Angus Hotel may be situated on a busy thoroughfare but inside is a haven of peace and comfort. The rooms were immaculate and en-suite shower room spacious and clinically clean. Okay, there are no fancy toiletries but there was coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the room. We were well looked after by Rachel and next morning the breakfast was plentiful and beautifully cooked to each of our individual requirements. Our party was 3 mature couples and we all were impressed at the cleanliness and comfort of accommodation. Within a very short walking distance you will find local shops, traditional pub, café bar and restaurants. Hotel is about a mile from the centre of Carlisle and convenient for motorways North and South.

Stayed here for an overnight stay as there was a show on at the Sands Centre which was within walking distance and therefore ideal. Very friendly and welcoming owners. The room at the back of the hotel was spacious and immaculately clean. Breakfast was lovely. Parking available around the corner with a permit provided by the hotel. Couldn't ask for anything more. Would return for another stay.
