We stayed at the Angus Hotel in September whilst doing the Hadrian's Way Cycle ride. The hotel accommodated 11 of us and we had a lovely breakfast prior to the ride that day. The accommodation is clean and the rooms are spacious and it is ideally located near to the City centre.

As with many people who have left ratings, we were booked in here by our tour company at the end of the Hadrian's Wall Path. While it is very conveniently located for that, the hotel is a bit of a walk from the main part of Carlisle. Which might not be exactly what you want to do at the end of your day. There had been a couple of warm days in a row and our room was very hot. It was also located directly on the main road. Which is the main road going north out of Carlisle. So there was no choice but to open the window and then suffer through the very considerable noise and emissions. The room was tiny. We had to literally step over my bag to get to the other bed or through to the bathroom. The rooms are tired and worn. Although there was supposed to be, there was no workable wifi in the room. As has been pointed out, the landlady is very nice. Breakfast had some nice buffet aspects for cereal and fruit, but overall very average. Not recommended.

We stopped on route to the highlands. We were greeted by very friendly staff, refurbished rooms good showers and very very comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast as well and only a short walk into town.

An excellent hotel close to the centre of Carlisle. Martin and Rachel go out of their way to make the stay comfortable. Lively Labrador accommodated, with good space in the room for her cage. Breakfast amazing.

This hotel is about a ten minute walk from town. But buses run very frequently from a stop nearby. The 3.30 pound day ticket is worth it if you plan to take more than 3 trips. The hotel is very well managed and the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and tidy. However the one i stayed in was a bit dated and i found i almost slipped on the carpet a couple of times. For this reason I didn't want to rate this place a 4, but it is better than a 3 so 3.5

stay here for one night after a long walk from bowness on solway doing hadrians wall. the room was spotless and well appointed . probably far too nice for our dog meg who stayed the night with us. we were welcomed with open arms and a towel for our wet dog. jackets and boots were taken and put for drying .they were even stuffed with newspapers to help them dry out for the next day. now thats service. breakfast was lovely and all the staff were very attentive. searching for a place to eat with our dog on a sunday night wasn't easy but the landlady even tried to help with that . ( the redfern inn accommodated us all) totally recommend this hotel to all !! (note dogs are not allowed down for breakfast or left in the room ...so a split sitting was required . not a big problem for us )

Stayed here for one night, doing the Hadrian Cycleway NCN72 East to West. Had cycled from Tynemouth, and was totally worn out. Hospitality of the owners was first class. Looked after me really well, and stored my bike securely. The hotel is exceptional. I've stayed in a lot of 4* star national chains that don't come close to this. The room I had, room 11, was excellent, very comfortable, and what I needed after a hard day. Free Wi-Fi is a real bonus. Breakfast was brilliant, and the coffee was ace, I like a good tasting coffee in the morning and this fitted the bill perfectly. I was set up for a tough day to Ravenglass. Thanks!!

10 minute walk to city centre. Spotless large room, lovely breakfast, and friendly owner. There is obviously some traffic noise, as the hotel is on a main route into Carlisle. We had a room at the front, so the noise was probably more noticeable, but it wasn't a problem for us. The shower was a bit weedy (not much pressure, so slow flow), but other than that everything was just perfect. Would definitely stay here again, thanks!

We stayed two nights in August as we were taking part in a charity walk along Hadrian's Wall. From the moment we arrived our hosts were very attentive and welcoming. Our room was clean, comfortable and equipped with the necessities. We booked bed and breakfast but due to an early start were not able to eat breakfast on the first morning. However we were offered a breakfast tray or packed lunch instead. We chose the breakfast tray which was perfect consisting muesli, orange juice, fresh fruit, flapjack and muffins. The day after our walk we joined other guests for breakfast proper with choices of cereal, fresh fruit, cheeses. We also chose an excellent full English (vegetarian option). After our walk we arrived back at the hotel with wet hiking boots and were asked if we would like to leave them in the boiler room to dry out. Nothing appeared to be too much bother and these little extras were really appreciated. A very high standard of customer service, all with a smile. Thoroughly recommend the Angus Hotel.

We had two large rooms which were really comfortable and scrupulously clean. The staff were extremely helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place. The poached eggs were excellent and thoroughly appreciated.
