Can honestly say that my last visit wasn't good many years ago....but today the new management have turned this place around, little tired in places but I'm sure they are on to this....but what more could you ask for from amazing staff, especially Katie 💎 and Paula, they looked after all our group, to regular guests with smiles on their faces and just pleasant and lovely., to lovely food and gorgeous grounds....great for small weddings, parties. We order food and it was gorgeous and reasonably priced, the atmosphere was lovely and it made the day flow lovely - will definitely be back to try afternoon tea, which we have heard is lovely and it's in our doorstep - well done to everyone 👍and happy birthday to our fabulous birthday lady 😉
I noticed before I booked that there are comments about tired rooms. To an extent, this is true but it does not detract from it being a wonderful place to stay. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. Location is great and the surrounding area was absolutely lovely. Food was well cooked and tasty as well as being well put together. Menus were imaginative and dinner is a well-worthwhile experience. I have noted comments about damp and grout and sealants being imperfect but the building is old and this is part of the quaintness of it all. I must comment on the towels.... they were wonderful! Clean, dry and high quality. Much like the rest of the place. Don't let some obsessive, compulsive perfectionist let you miss out on such a wonderful place to stay.
This hotel was not what we were expecting. The pictures certainly gave it a far better appearance than the reality did. The hotel is extremely 'tired' and in need of some TLC. The facilities were minimal and there was a toilet roll which was almost out of paper on the toilet roll holder in our room. Behind the toilet was dirty and in need of a thorough clean. The room was nice enough but the tea/coffee tray was tucked away under the television and not particularly 'user friendly'. The bed was comfortable enough although I would suspect, much like the other furniture in the room, in desperate need of updating. The carpet was very worn down and if it is in the same state throughout it would explain the constant noise of people walking about. The person serving drinks on our return to the hotel after an evening out was not very hospitable, and although the hotel states that the bar closes at 11pm, the guests in the bar area got no warning for last orders and despite there still being at least 10 guests sat chatting he literally just turned the light off and went and sat at the reception area. A few people asked if we could purchase another round of drinks especially as he had not told us the bar was closing but he refused and when it was pointed out that he hadn't let anyone know a few minutes before, he replied 'it closes at 11pm'. This was disappointing and as much as I appreciate that the bar closes at 11 oclock, I have never stayed anywhere before where the barman had not come around to the guests to just let them know that they would be shutting up the bar shortly, especially when there were still quite a few guests sat there. The receptionist that checked us in on arrival was very helpful as were the 2 female bar staff who were working earlier in the evening. Overall this was not the best overnight experience I have had, which is a shame because it looked so nice.
Staff were excellent, table was dressed beautifully, food was beautiful, made our stay there very welcoming, would recommend for any occasion every family member that was with us gave it 5 stars ***** , food well presented, and the menus to suit all, will definitely be going back!!.....
We stayed here for a night as we were visiting Coventry for a friend's wedding. Our room was fairly dated and could do with a refurbishment but the bed was very comfortable and the room itself was large. Breakfast was decent and at less than £60 for B&B for the 2 of us represented good value. The staff on the desk in the bar and at breakfast were all very curious and helpful. Only downside was the bathroom in our room really does need updating and the noise from people outside (at an event at the hotel) was pretty loud, but this was probably a one off. Would I stay here again? Yes.
Went here with some friends for a local event and the rooms are clean, plenty of space, current renovations in place but the staff are a credit to the hotel. So informative, so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We asked for the football to be played on the tv and they made room for us and changed the channel, brought drinks to the table and the food was superb! Would definitely visit and recommend
I Stayed for one night during May. On arrival I thought the outside looked slightly dull but was pleased with parking. Easy check but did think the stairs had a very funny smell. Our room was lovely, large with a nice decor and big bathroom. Huge bath which was a bonus. Bed was comfortable enough, sadly I could clearly hear the people moving around upstairs around 8am but that's down to the age of the building. Late check out is £10 which I thought was fair for an extra 2 hours. I didn't have a cooked breakfast but did simple the continental. The restaurant / bar is nice and very light. Would I stay again? Yes. The hotel is cheap and the rooms are really nice. The hotel has a lot of potential but does need some updating in places.
Staff are really friendly and the service good .We had the Sunday lunch which was really delicious and there was more than enough of beef, veg a giant home made Yorkshire pudding and 4 good size roast potatoes the starter and desert was also good . Will defiantly go back
Just stayed here the one night, but it was perfectly located for the city centre and there were restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. Loved the view from my room. Would definitely stay here again.
Visited the Coventry for a wedding. Did not know any of the area. Arrived at the Jacobean to a warm welcome. Great customer service. Room comfortable. Lovely food. Best fish and chips I have had in a long time. A special Thank you to Paula.
