Staff exceptional, polite and helpful. Yes hotel is a bit jaded but room comfortable and you get what you pay for. Great area for visiting all areas of Arcachon and a bonus is it is next to our favourite restaurant We would certainly visit again. Had the breakfast and at 11 euro is well worth it.
My wife and I stayed here for one night in August with our daughter, son in law and two grandchildren. We had booked two rooms with two adults and one child in each room. When we arrived, the hotel had no record of a booking for the children and no beds for them even though my confirmation showed this. After some fairly strenuous conversation they agreed to provide one rollaway bed for one child. We found some blankets and made up something of a bed for the second child. Our room had a very rusty heating unit and a hair dryer with no hose attached (see pictures). The aircon did not work and our daughter’s room smelled of damp and mould in the bathroom. There is little regard for safety with 2 metre high laundry cages on the staircases and exits obstructing fire escapes. It is a tragedy waiting to happen. The hotel offered not to charge us for breakfast at €11 each but the problems with the room, the sleepless night my daughter and her husband had and the general condition of the rooms made the stay a very bad experience. This hotel is suffering from under investment and may have been considered modern in the 80’s but precious little has been done to it since. On the plus side, the reception staff were friendly and welcoming, even though things turned a bit sour after the room problems. The breakfast was good and included fresh orange juice, eggs and a good range of breads and cheese, ham and croissants. The hotel is close to the beach but twenty minutes walk to the centre of town. There is a car park at the rear of the hotel not available to guests to use for some unknown reason and in Arcachon parking is difficult. I complained to Choice hotels and received an automated reply. They have just ignored my second and subsequent e-mails and I would not recommend this group or any of their other brands. The hotel apologised but could not say why they had accepted the booking when they knew they only had one rollaway bed. We could not recommend this hotel, not just because of the problems we had but the poor condition of the rooms and the lack of any proper response from Choice Hotels to our complaint.
We spent one night as velo-tourers. WIth this hotel you step back in time into the 80's , everything is vintage (some other reviewers called it "tired" and they are not wrong). But the 80's had good sides. For instance, there is a full bathtub in the bathroom, try find this in a modern 3* hotel nowadays. So, good sides : friendly reception staff, parking garage for the bicycles, close to excellent restaurant Noroit up the street, close to harbour and cycle path to city center, close to city center. WiFi. Good bed. Air con. Room at back overlooking empty parking lot and greenery, very quiet. Good value for money Less good sides : electricity has been modernized but not enough power outlets in room. All in all guests seemed happy and we certainly were.
The good stuff: - Fresh orange juice at breakfast - Helpful reception people The bad stuff: - Very poor electricity supply: 5 plugs in the room; one of them in the bathroom, three of them used (fridge and TV and lamp), leaving 1, and it is not even next to the bed. - They kept taking towels and not returning them. The first day there one big, one small and one for the hands. By the last day they left only a very small one, not enough to dry after taking a shower. - Other than the orange juice, the breakfast is very plain, and always the same.
Recently stayed here on our way to biarritz. For me the biggest plus point about this hotel is that it wasn't to far to walk to the beach and shops. There are also a few nice restaraunts close by. The hotel itself is tired. The rooms desperately need updating and the hotel cleaner could do with a kick up the backside, as on arrival to our room there was a dirty cup left on the floor, and the waste bin hadn't been emptied. There is also no car parking available at this hotel. So you have to pay by the meter to park on the kerbside (a task you will have to undertake every three hours) or alternatively use the indigo underground parking. A 15 minute walk away and at the cost of nearly 30 euros for the night.
Very friendly staff who speak good English which was a big plus for me who barely speaks French. I stayed on the second floor facing the back of the hotel, it was quiet, comfortable and clean. the hotel is about a 3 min walk to the beach and marina, at one end of the beach. It's about a 10-15min stroll down to the jetty's and the centre of town. There a couple of really nice restaurants really close by if you don't fancy the walk too. I was really happy with my choice of hotel and would highly recommend to others.
If your not looking for a fancy, newly built hotel but rather have a great location for a cheap price this will do just find. Our room was a decent size and included A/C which is not always for granted in Europe and the location 2 min walk from the beach makes this place a winner for us as long as you know what you are getting into.
A very good location of the hotel. We spent there two nights. Very quiet. Nothing luxury about his hotel but if you are budget traveller and want a good location - this hotel is spot on. The beach is almost next door. Bathroom needs more ventilation because you can smell dump.
We stayed here during the UEFA football championship and travelled by train for the match in Bordeaux. The hotel was clean and tidy and met our requirements perfectly. We had to set out early so did not sample breakfast. Railway station located about 20 minute walk from hotel.
Good location. Short walk circa 15 mins to centre of town and rail station. Roads very narrow so no service buses pass by - just courtesy bus (limited stops) from station and city tour minibus. Lots of places to eat nearby including an Asian fusion option. We however ate THREE times across the road at Chez Balthazar over the week we were there which is very unusual for us, but the pizzas were so good and late service we just kept returning. Rooms were OK and cleaners did a great job but the bathrooms really do need an upgrade asap. Bath gets slippy underfoot when using shower so make sure you have a mat in place for safety. Shower curtains worn and marked with age but not unhygienic, just not very pleasing to the eye. Breakfast generally good - hot drink machine variable but hot chocolate option OK. Really all comes down to price. We got a good deal with breakfast included but would have been unhappy to have paid any more and would not particularly recommend it to friends. Ask for a rear balcony room - quiet away from road. Our rear room overlooked an empty carpark - perhaps there is a charge levied? We took the train but a car would have been worthwhile to visit local area. Staff were all very helpful and seemed to work hard across all the duties.
