Ok, on this holiday we had a family of 4, two adults , One 7 year old and One 13 month old. We also traveled with our friends who were also a family of 4 So let's start with the room. The rooms are small for a family of four,we had 3 beds and a cot, once we hired a fridge there was basically zero room for anything else we had to put our suit case on the balcony. Ok for two persons, family are a tight squeeze. To us this was not an issue as we only use the room for a base so no real time was spent in the room. Rooms are cleaned everyday and towels are changed everyday so in that respect this is excellent. The pool is awesome, a walk in slope going to a gradual 1.6m depth perfect for all ages. It also has a small kids pool and a water splash area that is open twice a day (no idea why?) also a jacuzzi. They have a feature waterfall that again is turned on about 5 times a day (again not sure why) as the kids go crazy for it. The reception area is very modern and very clean. The food ... The food was fantastic, like most hotels they have themed nights,American,Mexican..etc you get the picture, all the kids found something they liked and there were lots to choose from. The breakfast were equally good, again lots to choose from. The dining area was modern and very clean. The hotel is very close to the beach and is in an excellent area for a little shopping and to go for meals out. The beach is a course sand, good for not getting in all the nooks and crannies but hard on the feet. Now down side , I think it has been mentioned before and I don't think it is a hotel thing just a Spanish thing but the staff were curt ,borderline rude,I could give many examples. The one I'll use is my wife went to get some water to put in my baby's tommy tippy cup this was about 10:17 breakfast officially finished at 10:15 and she was just told No .. the machine was still on it was a foot away .. but No. so we had to walk up to the room and get some out of our fridge .. not a huge deal .. but irksome. Pubs Go to the Eureka or the Black Bull both have awesome friendly staff and drinks are very reasonable.

We enjoyed the 4 nights stay at Hotel Papi but had a few downs. I'll start with the good. The food is amazing and everybody is catered for, the selection was brilliant and my fussy kids always found something to eat. The entertainment on the night is really good such as a magic show and flamenco dancers. The location is very close to the beach, shops, tobacconist and many local restaurants. The main pool is a good size and the kids water park is also lots of fun. Most receptionists are very polite and helpful I think Meher was her name and she was very helpful in getting us tickets and directions to Marineland. Rooms were very clean and we had a modern bathroom which was lovely. The bad points. My daughters cardigan went missing from our room. One of the bar staff was extremely rude. My little boy needed the toilet so we had to power walk from the kids pool to get to the toilets inside. There is a no wet foot sign we tried our best to dry our feet but he is only little and didn't want him contaminating the pool so was desperate to get him in there. When we came out the barman was extremely rude about it and talked to us like we were children. Very sarcastic. He stated there was a bathroom outside. I couldn't see no sign until looking closely there is a small sign with the woman/man sign in the kids pool. If I had known that I wouldn't have power walked from there into the building. I suggest hotel Papi make the outdoor toilet more obvious to their guests. The floor was also covered from others doing the same. The same bar man is also horrible with the kids and has little patience. The Jacuzzi and waterfall only come on for a maximum of 2 minutes maybe 5 times a day so are not on for long at all. Never once was asked by the kids club if my children wanted to join so we never participated they just walked past us every time. We still enjoyed our stay but will probably look into other hotels.

Just had a week here with my wife & kids. It`s a good relaxing clean friendly hotel. Good pool, waterfall is fun when it comes on during the day, aqua park also at given times, kids club during the day at given times. Food is themed every night, but basic food is available t if you don`t like themed American night or Italian food night. Internet is only free for around an hour or so in the evening around 7.30 pm. Great location for old town Malgrat de Mar & train station also. (Take the R1 train to Pl Catalunya & your bang in the middle of Barcelona). Great shops & pubs around the hotel. I would definitely return to the hotel, well worth the money I spent.

Reception : Customer services: NEED IMPROVEMENT Low skilled staff . Very difficults to get answer for easy questions as about trips , kids club time etc. - especially blond Russian receptionist.. whatever you ask her she don't know, she is rude and not helpful. Never use word as hello etc. Rooms: OK - clean everyday , towels are changed daily, bathroom renovated in really good condition - no brush toilet inside which was strange. Air conditioner in room once working once not during the day was very hot in the room. Room was quit small with tiny wardrobe. Balcony wasn't clean at all we been for 10 nights. Balcony door can't be open from outside, its dangerous for somebody who smoking and stay in room alone. Restaurant: NOT BAD Breakfast boring all the time the same pancakes, eggs and sausage. Lunch & supper not that bad . Between services you can't grab any friuts etc.  - we going out that day and we not planning to come back for supper so one of us pop in restaurant which is open 13.00-21.00 to take something but waiters said definitely can't do it anymore. Breakfest coffee juice including , lunch & supper you have to pay 1.9€ for water ( half liter) coca cola and other 2€ + bottle of wine 8€+.  There is some card which you can use to pay for drinks but they told us about it in day no 6. Bar:  BAD All alcohol drinks are quit expensive price start form 4-5€ per one and they always ask if you want orginal alcohol or local - orginal always 1+ € extra. Coffee cost 2€ it's done it in kettle so you get cold and awful drink. Waiters are good they do what they can. Man ( blad head )  who services all drinks behind the bar was rude and grumpy his face was like a stone.  You can't have your own water or anything else as they complaining straight away even you have something from bar already. Animation:  NOT BAD There is some corner with information about kids club everyday something twice a day 11.00-13.00 & 15.00-17.00 but is not that in 100% . Some day they make once a day sometimes not at all. My daugher was so sad when she come for kids club and they said that they finish early like hour before close time or they not open at all. Evening mini disco  was for half an hour which was good for children . After mini disco kids club was open sometimes so the children can play. Kids club rules is children can walk in & out when they want. Other : Swimming pool - lights , waterfall, jacuzzi working only 1 -2 times a day for 5 minutes. Water salted in swimming pool, jaccuzi upstairs with cold water. Shops , pubs and restaurants around the hotel. Not far fo sea but you have to use tunel under the road. Train station not that far.

Just back from a lovely holiday and staying in hotel papi. We were half board and the food was lovely. Something different everything night. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool was a great size. Only problem you had to be up with the lark to get a sunbed. Would definitely go there again.

I've just returned from a week at the Hotel Papi in Malgrat de Mar, Spain. I've stayed at this hotel many times as I believe it's one of the best in the area. As usual we had a fantastic time and was pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant has been refurbished as have some of the rooms. The food was again amazing! Theme nights more or less every night with some tasty food on offer. I've always found the staff to be very polite, but I was very disappointed on this trip when I was spoken to by two of the bar/waiter staff like a child! They were very arrogant, it did upset the rest of my day. The only other critasism I have is that we like to sit/sunbathe on the artificial grass area by the pool as it's suppose to be 'non smoking', but just about everyone had ashtrays on there and smoked all day long. We couldn't get away from the smoking unless we sat inside. I will definitely carry on using this hotel, but I will never use the hotel bar again due the their attitudes.

We've just came back from 10 days at Hotel Papi, Malgrat De Mar (me, my husband and two kids: 2 and 4 years old). Very, very pleased with the hotel, reception staff helpful and polite, cleanliness tip top, excellent food (every day different theme for dinner, like for example oriental night or american night), a lot of fish, fresh fruit, ice cream and salad. Rooms typical for 3 star hotel, simple with air con but no fridge (that is normal I guess those days). You have to pay 20 Euro deposit for remote control and few Euro tourism tax on arrival. Bar very good and excellent swimming pools, big one with a waterfall and also a little jacuzzi on a side. There was a little swimming pool for kids and another swimming pool with slides (mini aqua park) which was open 4 hours a day. We were very happy to see that there was a Mini Club for kids and a lot of activities during the day, for kids and for adults, like bingo with prizes for example. There was evening entertiment as well: live music, karaoke, flamenco etc. Special thank You for animation team, bunch of great enthusiastic young people, thank You Paula, Sufian, Max, Romi and Demi. Kids just loved them, Mini Disco every evening and playing with them. I would recomend this hotel to families with small kids definitely, I hope we return one day.

We had a room with a sea view and a view of the pool The room was basic but very clean had been recently refurbished .Dinning room was good we where shown to a table on entry, good choice of food. The bar service was excellent with entertainment every night.Staff very helpful and friendly. Five mins walk to beach.

Just arrived back home from my holiday to Malgrat De Mar with my son and over all we had a great time. The hotel is nice.. rooms a bit basic but very clean and adequate for our time there. Pool area is great for kids and not too deep. They have a separate kids pool with slides etc but it wasn't open very much while we were there but this may just have been because it wasn't peak times due to it not being school holidays yet. Hotel is only a 5min walk to the beach with lots of shops and restaurants close by. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, I would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

We have been to Malgrat several times and have stayed at several hotels there, we prefer the Papi because of its location nearer to the old town. The refurbed dining room was a vast improvement - the meals were enjoyable, the staff great and cleanliness of the hotel and the room was very good. Only one grump the the entertainment on the *prom* left a lot to be desired bring back Simon Grant.
