Was a guest at a wedding on the 6th Dec 2017 nd from the min we arrived at the reception we were greeted with smiles. The staff couldn't do enough for us nd the waiting staff Ann nd Paul went above nd beyond. The food was gorgeous. My sister is thinking of booking here for her own wedding in 2 yrs as our day was so enjoyable
Have stayed here a few times recently. Basic rooms but with all the essentials and very spacious and clean. Homely feel thanks to staff who are very friendly. A no nonsense place with a freshly cooked breakfast and very good carvery lunch.
We arrived at the hotel by friendly receptionist, who gave us our pass card for our room. It had two double beds ,tv,iron, tea making facilitiesclean towels every day and bed linen always refreshed. The hotel lounge is big with a good atmosphere, where you and the public can play bingo for large amounts of euros. You can order food till 9 ish and the breakfast is brilliant.Bus stop to city and Blarney Castle right outside of hotel, also Macdonalds very close if you like fast food, overall a good hotel
Had nice bar food on Friday afternoon. Stayed on with my husband for a few drinks afterwards. Manager Ger was lovely and pleasant stopped and chatted to us for while. Lovely evening would recommend a visit for a relaxed bit to eat and drinks afterwards.
Stayed there for one night midweek. It was ok and did the job but I'd be cautious to recommend it. The positives of the Commons Inn are that there is plenty of secure and free parking, Wifi worked well, room was spacious, hotel has a bar with a restaurant and staff were friendly However the hotel is next to a busy road so even with closed windows traffic was very audible (if you are in any way noise sensitive at least ask for a room that is not out the front) the rooms were dated and stuffy and staff (while friendly) lacked attention to detail or didn't seem to care much. I had dinner in the restaurant, despite it being a quiet evening it took ages for someone to come over. The fish and chips were ok but nothing great. The next day at breakfast, staff cleared the table and removed my plate while I was still eating. It wasn't busy and breakfast was still served for another hour. I don't think it was done purposely but the lady who cleared the table (she was on her phone most of the time) just didn't pay attention or cared that I wasn't quite finished yet. Those were not big issues but still worthwhile mentioning. Also the eggs on toast were supposed to be English Muffin toast (according to the menu) however it was served on simple white bread. Again not an issue really but just those little things If it hadn't been for the noise and the rather careless attitude of staff, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Traveled down to Cork for a one night getaway with my Husband. Lovely warm welcome from the girl in reception who gave us lots of information on bars in the city and also printed a bus timetable for us which was great! Very easy access to and from the city of Cork! Purchased a fantastic offer for dinner and breakfast for 24.95 per person and the food was delicious! Breakfast staff made me feel right at home. Shopping centre also located less than a 10 minute walk up the road.Looking forward to staying again in the New Year hopeufully!
I'm not one for complaining but to be fair everyone has their limit!! I have stayed in the Commons Inn a few times over the last 5/6 years but definitely won't be back. The place has changed so much - there seems to be a new management team in there but what a disaster. From the girls on reception who obviously would rather be anywhere else than there (maybe I can't blame them!) to the bar staff (all miserable looking - probably can't blame them either!), there's a horrible feeling about the place. The bar had a very rough looking crowd in there - never saw the likes of it in there before. Not even background music playing - they should have really to drown out the shouting out of some of the "characters" in there... Felt very uncomfortable in there so left our drinks behind us and went elsewhere. The rooms haven't really been updated in years but they have no problem increasing their prices - funny that..... not.....! Oh, and to top it all the place is dirty and stinks of cigarettes. Well, as I said - AVOID!!!!! So many nicer hotels to spend your well earned money in.
I have stayed at the commons inn many times over the last 15 yrs, wonderful experience, recently stayed there again, god what has happened the staff were rude, looked dirty somebody needs to get their act together. never again will i go there. even the rooms looked shabby
could not complain one bit, the staff from reception to the waiting staff are out of this world. The manager Nicole was a great help, Nicole was around the room all night making sure everything was ok and making sure everyone was ok. Martina was a godsend nothing was too big or small. As for Paul, Ann and Mary wow is all I can say, they were running around all evening finishing off and adding bits so the venue would look to perfection. Would highly recommend the commons for a function, would give it 5 stars.
Stayed here for two nights and found it ideal location for Cobh (Titanic’s Last Port of Call), Fota (Amazing Wildlife Park/Zoo) and Cork City Centre. Admittedly we had a hire car at our disposal and we could have easily visited Blarney Castle as well. The Hotel had ample parking, bar and restaurant. We ate dinner on the first night and the food was excellent pub grub (albeit high quality pub grub), they also have 2 breakfast menus, which was a nice touch and meant we could get a ‘late breakfast at around 11:30 Rooms were clean, tidy and well priced -will use again
