Not bad...but not memorable

Over all, the hotel was acceptable, especially considering its affordable price during the summer season. Compare to must of the other comparably priced hotels in the area, this is the best bet...but sometime you do ask yourself whether this hotel has the "Golden Tulip" standard. The best part of the stay was the breakfast, which is large, and has many choices to offer.

Nice balconies overlooking the sea

The location was great no we loved our balconies overlooking the Black Sea. We are a family of four who had been traveling throughout Romania with quite a lot of luggage. The only problem we encountered was the fact that there was not enough space in the room to put the suitcases. We did enjoy the restaurant and music. Overall we had a very pleasant stay.

See the Black Sea

Staff went out of their way to make our experience extremely pleasant. From the front desk to the bar area, they did everything within their power to make our two day stay an experience we will not soon forget.

A good hotel right on the beach

I give the hotel a five not because is perfect, but because the ratio price and comfort is right there. For a family with kids its great, in and out to the beach, the restaurant is also by the beach, the food is what to expect for the price, makes the kids happy. The staff was accommodating , if you come with a positive attitude, the'll keep it that way! I have not encountered any problems! I 'm a business man, stayed at five star all the way to a motel. In the end is the ratio, money spent vs services! This one is all right!

Terrible Recepcionist

I have been that hotel with my wife. The beach in front of the hotel is not sandy. Restaurant is not good for breakfast and lunch but good for dinner with nice music group. But the WORST thing was the reception officer lady in our check-out. We have overslept lunch time. Woke up around 13:00. Recepcionist called around 13:20 reminded we have to leave the room. I have replied that we are packing and soon will check out. When we were at reception desk around 13:45 she has started talking too unrespectfully. Asked extra money. I have reminded her to speak more politely. She continued. I have asked name, she did not have any name on her shirt. She did not want to tell by keeping on rude way. And finally she told her name "MAGDA" but am not sure is correct. So, our vacation turned to a stress and demotivation with recepcionist.

great location next to beach with great view

Oevrall great experince, room was great with great view of beach. breakfast was nice, close to city yet far enough for it to be calm and quiet place. Only problem was that they were still fixing the swimming pool and it was not open. one of the reason i booked this place was because of swimming pool.

Renovation

The swimming pool and restaurant was being renovated. We had taken a sea facing room but was too noisy due to renovation. Second day breakfast buffet was not served instead scanty al la carta. No cleaning was done 2nd day despite putting the placard to clean room. USD 100 per day was a rip off and no discount of 55% offered by Expedia when card was charged though it was with flight.

Happy with it all!

We are a group of girls from London who went to Sunwaves, the music festival. The hotel was 3 minutes away in a taxi and 10 minutes walk so perfect. We were very happy with the size of the rooms (we booked 3 and all were nearly the same). They were clean and accommodating. The staff was also very nice, the lady at the reception allowed us to check in at 6am rather than 4pm as normal! Even the cleaning ladies were very nice when we asked for extra shower gel and clean towels! The staff in the restaurant was very slow and never came back when they said they would following a food complaint but other than that, I would stay there again.

A but 'blah'

The room was comfy, service was ok, food was OK - generally I would describe my stay in this Golden Tulip as very bland. We were woken up twice by the maid trying to clean our room (at 9am in the morning) despite putting the 'do not disturb' on the door. The breakfast was vey bland bordering on inedible. The hotel was full of families, therefore I would not recommend for a couple on a peaceful holiday. The Ping pong table was fun though

On the BEACH

WOW is All I can Say...The BEST BREAKFAST BUFFET I've had on This VACATION Two Types of Eggs What is Now my Favorite Smoke Sausage All Kinds of Bread, Cereal...They Had it All... I Had a Room with the Black Sea View... Also the Beach View...which also allow MEE to be Lazy one Morning and Watch the Sunrise from the Balacny My Bed was Comfy the Shower was Large.... Now I have Two Places I well have to Choose From in Mamaia... First Time This has Happen in a City I've been too at Least Twice and Yes If you Have seen My Other Reviews I pick My Hotels and Rate them be the Free Breakfast :) First Meal in the Morning

Not that great but might be best option

Definitely not the best place I've ever stayed and not worth the cost of the room. When I got to my room the AC was broken, the lock box was not working and the hotel was having an issue with their running water. With several phone calls to the front desk all of the issues were fixed but it took five hours. The staff are also incredibly uninterested in the guests. I got no explanation of the hotel amenities or of the beach front. I was told I had breakfast included in the price of my room and then at the restaurant was told I did not. However, I'm not sure what else in the area would have been better so it is hard not to recommend them despite the experience I had.

Okay, but try to find something better.

While the initial price was good, the hotel provides minimal services. There is no ice bucket or ice. There is a minibar that you cannot put your own drinks in. There was no cover sheet on the bed. The air conditioning in the initial room I had did not work. After a lot of hesitation from the front desk staff, I was given a new room. There is some free parking, but all of it is used during the summer.

I've stayed here twice now; the second time for almost 3 weeks on busines. Not a bad place for the money if you get the online prices. The staff, restaraunt, and bar are all good. Right on the beach, and the main Mamaia beach is about1/2 mile south. Easy walk. The standard rooms are a little small but again, not bad for the money.

worst expierience ever

My Expierience in this hotel was possibly the worst i have ever had. I asked for an address to put in my GPS and they said they could not give me one because teh GPS would take me to teh wrong place. Perhaps the staff at reception should know the coordinates if an offcial address does not exist. On giving me verbal instructions the reception staff assumed that i know the constanta/Mamaia area, the result being that i ended up more than 30 kilometers away from the hotel. After more than 7 phone calls (late at night) to get within a couple of kilometers of teh hotel, i was instructed to look for a very big blue building with the sign Danubius written on it with the letter "I" ontop of it. I did not see it till the next day in daylight, for obvious reasons, its not a very big building, it barely stands above teh trees, it has no "I" on top of it and being blue and not lit up at night, therefore impossible to see at night.PArking at teh hotel is a nightmare, even the private, pay for, parking was fully booked. The hotel does not offer room service. Wired internet is offerd in teh rooms but book a cable they are in short supply. The cable internet did not work and i was informed me that it must be a problem with my laptop, wireless is in teh lounge and others had same laptop problem i had, . I also suggest to teh hotel that where wireless is provided in teh lobby they may reduce the volume of teh muisic especially during teh day so that business travellers can focus on their work.

Affordable spot on the beach

Overall it was a good spot, the rooms could've been slightly cleaner but it wasn't too bad. We only stayed there two nights and didn't spend much time in the rooms, so I don't really have any comments on the service but they seemed friendly enough.
