My stay at the Red Roof Inn on Hwy45 N in Columbus, Ms was Fantastic. The beds a really comfortable which helps me sleep well. Plus the Owners Rimpal and her husband are very nice at answering questions and are very helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean and fresh. A very good choice for a room at a good price. Arrived on May 8th, having booked through booking.com, after a long day driving..We were informed our reservation had been cancelled as there seemed to be a problem with the card used to book. They said we should have been informed by booking.com by email. We explained that due to travelling all day we had been unable to access emails and on checking there was indeed a cancellation email. The same card had been used for all five bookings on our road trip and there were no problems with the other bookings. The guy checking us in was very abrupt and kept talking over us. He informed us that Columbus was very busy and finding somewhere else to stay would be difficult. He then offered us an upgraded room at 8 dollars more! On checking out the lady on reception was unable to find us on the system to provide a receipt saying that the room was showing someone of a different name was staying there. She took my email address to send a receipt but more than a fortnight on I am still waiting.Room was fine. Breakfast poor.
I called this hotel directly last Tuesday night, Sept 25 to make a reservation for Sat, Sept 29. My husband and son were going to the Miss State game on Sat so booked a room for Saturday night, Sept 29. Even told the gal at the front desk they would arrive around midnight from Starkville so wanted to make sure that was ok. We also discussed that I has up until 72 hours out to cancel, so that gave me until, Wed by 6 pm (since the reservation was for Saturday). I even called on Thurs night very late to confirm the res because I hadn't gotten an email conf. The gal at the front confirmed. Well, as it turned out I guess she clicked the wrong button...and she apparently booked it for Friday. My husband and son arrived at midnight to the Red Roof Columbus and they were told "oh, your reservation was for Friday night", we don't have a room for you"...sorry. Well I'm the one that called in and made the reservation and was currently on at a work conference in Jamaica(I am a travel agent) so didn't get privy to this right away. They sent my husband and son on their way and they had to drive 21/2 more hours to find a room, arriving Hoover Alabama at 2:30 am. SO if all that were not enough, the manager also said they are charging us for the room for Friday night, the one that the front desk clerk booked for the wrong night! I am appalled and honestly can't believe it. I can't believe someone could book a single room night reservation for the wrong night, especially as we spoke at length about the game being Saturday and them getting their so late. And that we discussed at length the 72 hours advance cancellation being Wed...there was nothing it the conversation to confuse the night we were booking the room. But to mess up their stay and then also want to charge us $175 for a night we did not even book is outrageous. I have also sent 3 emails to the hotel and gotten no response. Not the kind of place you want to visit.
For a hotel in this category, it was outstanding ! It is clean, hard floors. We were in a separate building which was quiet. Breakfast was better than the norm for this type of hotel..the biscuits were hot and fluffy. I would stay here again.
I've come to rely on Red Roof Inns everywhere we go. They are inexpensive and the ones that have been renovated are wonderful. The beds are comfy. Quiet area. Everything was clean and the staff are great. It was a wonderful stay and we will be staying again.

The front desk staff was very nice and easy to work with when we weren't sure of our work schedule. The rooms were reasonably priced and weekly rates were offered. The rooms were clean. I would stay again, if I were in the Columbus area.
When I come back to this area to work I will definitely be staying here again! Very friendly staff, very clean rooms, the most comfortable bed and pillows I've slept on in a long time. I wish all motels were like this one!
