We travel to Columbus often, but this was our first; and last stay at this property. The hotel is convenient to shopping and restaurants. The hotel is nicely decorated. With the exception of one gentleman at the front desk, the staff does not go out of their way to help. We had a reservation, and arrived at 5:15 PM to check-in (check-in time is 3 PM). We were told that our room was not yet ready, but would be ready in 45 minutes. They took my number and said they would call when the room was ready...the call never came. We returned to the hotel at 6:30 and the room was still not ready, but they let us check-in and said it would be ready by the time we got to the room. They offered no apology, reward points or anything else for our inconvenience. Housekeeping staff arrived a few minutes after we did to finish getting the room ready. They shorted us towels and we had to get these from the front desk later. The delay in getting into the room screwed up our 7 PM dinner reservation. Trash cans inside and outside the hotel were overflowing with trash. The hallway and elevators were in serious need of a vacuum. Getting a good night's sleep here on a weekend is out of the question unless you can sleep comfortably in a 24 hour child care setting. Children are allowed to run the halls screaming and yelling at all hours of the day and night. I found it interesting that while our room was not ready when we arrived at 6:30 PM, but the housekeeping staff was knocking on our door at 10:30 the day we were checking out (even though the do not disturb sign was on the door). Breakfast ends at 9:30 sharp, so we were not able to partake in that because it was mostly put away when we got down there at 9:30. when we checked out, the front desk clerk inquired if everything was alright with our stay. I said "no, not really." She never asked what the problem was, apologized, or followed up in any way. There were several people behind me, so I just paid my bill and got out. I stay almost exclusively at IHG properties, and this is probably the worst experience I have had at an IHG property.
My wife and I were driving east on 46 towards Columbus and decided to stop at Culver's for a quick dinner. Great place and very nice service staff. We both ordered double butter cheeseburgers with onion rings and French fries. Very good and tasty burgers. Onion rings were good and the fries were alright. Good choices on the menu. Priced a little high. Will go back if in the area again.
Awesome place to stay. Was there for 2 and a half weeks and there were no problems. Rooms were clean and quiet breakfast was fresh and plenty of restaurants close by for lunch and dinner. Would stay there again next time in town there.
I have been traveling to Columbus for business for a while now and I have stayed in many other properties. In April I discovered This Holiday Inn Express and I will not look elsewhere. Two weeks ago i return for my 5th stay at the property. It has all what you expect decent wifi, free breakfast, pool and a business center. the rooms are spacious and always clean with mini fridges in the room. I normally would not mention a staff member by name good or bad in one of these reviews, but there is one person there who need to be mentioned. I know him as Joe and he is one of the best I have come by in years when I walk through the door he now greets me by name, I have had a few requests in the past 7 months of going there and nothing is ever a problem and in fact when I could not get my presentation to print on my computer or in the business center he took the files from me had them printed and saved my butt. I have witness him and 2 others at the hotel handle other guests with the same level of professionalism and it truly seems that nothing is ever a problem for them. I don't expect Joe to be there long as he will likely be moved to one of the higher end properties IHG has.
Very accommodating and adequate breakfasts; however beware that the daily rate varies dramatically [depending on undisclosed demand], and it will be different nearly every day. Do not assume your first day rate will prevail !
I've stayed here twice with my two teen children. Pros: reasonably priced, room was clean, awesome pool, satisfactory breakfast, conveniently located; shopping, restaurants, and highway. Cons: seating was minimal at the free breakfast (we ate at 8:30), and the beds were too soft for our taste. That being said, the cons are minimal and not a very big deal... we will most definitely stay again.
First off, the most important thing to me besides being clean is the bed. After all, this is why I'm staying, not all other listed amenities-these are perks. Secondly, without bragging I must note to all I am a top 2% TA reviewer. With that being said, all bedding in my room should be tossed out and replaced including the mattress. The sheets are worn out, pilled, mismatched, total disarray, sized incorrectly but tucked all under?? Idk get it...the mattress is curling, probably from being turned and flipped so much(which is good) but its time to be replaced. This place is decorated swanky with purples and colored glass accents, looks nice but needs to be dusted to keep cobwebs off which were quite obvious in the dining room windows. Room is loud, meaning you can hear doors in the hall, rooms beside you, toilets flush. All this for $375 for 2 nights. Once again, not a good hotel experience for Columbus, Ohio! Seems I can not locate a decent deal in Columbus?
Rooms were nice, staff was friendly, centrally located. The thermostat was a little sensitive (goes from freezing at 69 and hot at 70). Besides that, not too much to complain about. I would stay there again.
We had a death in the family and had to grab a hotel last minute. The Holiday Inn Express graciously allowed us an early check-in so we could freshen up before our visit. I really appreciated that they were willing to do this at a particularly rough time. Room was clean and spacious and the gal that checked me in was very nice. Breakfast was the normal fare and Wi-Fi worked well in the lobby. Thanks again!
This is a relatively new hotel, and our room was in great condition. Floors 2 - 5 have two queen beds; floors 6 & 7 have king beds. We were in a king room. I was favorably impressed with the size of the room; it seemed about 3 feet wider than other hotels of this category. Breakfast had the usual Holiday Inn Express assortment including eggs, breads, yogurts, etc. The breakfast area was monitored well and in good shape. Front desk personnel were busy but friendly and helpful. There is free wifi. We picked this hotel because of their pool. Though not quite a water park, it is more than an average hotel pool where there is little room to swim. There is a shallow play area with a slide and other water features and a small lazy river. There is also a deeper end with two swim laps. I loved that I could actually swim without running into people who were just kind of playing in the water. There is also a hot tub. The kids with us had a great time. We plan to visit this Inn again when in Columbus.
