Days Inn Columbus Tryon2.0 out of 5.0

I notice that some of the rooms seem to be in the process of remodeling. That is good, since the mattress was sorta old/soft/worn. I have been to the chiropractor twice this week, and go again tomorrow and again the next day. I really like the motel, though. The staff is GREAT, and the breakfast was above-average. The location is wonderful since it is close to lots of neat places. I would recommend the Lincoln Center Museum near Rutherfordton, NC (about 20 miles). I was fascinated since they seem to have compelling proof that our beloved 16th President was born near there (and not in Kentucky). Isn't that interesting?????
In the middle of remodeling so very loud. Carpets had multiple stains. Check in/out was fast and easy. Friendly staff
Although the rooms are being renovated the room looked like a freshen up not a full renovation. Could not get wifi to work, room did not have clothes hangers, first attempt at providing hangers brought the wrong kind. Room price raised as there were several school graduations in the area, not worth the $145 plus tax charged.
I try to avoid upscale places when I travel, but I absolutely insist on a comfortable bed, a clean room, and a functional bathroom/shower. This Days Inn delivered on all three. The motel is being renovated, so there are stacks of materials around in the parking lot. That's not a concern. Check-in was smooth and welcoming, and my room was neat. The owner is moving to fake hardwood which I find I prefer. At least I can see any dirt and grime stemming from lack of vacuuming. The bed felt too soft when I sat on the end of it, but when I laid down it was perfect, with plush pillows. There was a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker; plus a guide for the tv channels. The AC was a bit noisy, but I solved that by cooling the room a bit more than I wanted, then turned it off when I went to bed. Breakfast was just fine, with bananas, apples, several kinds of yogurt plus the usual stuff. Unfortunately the coffee was an auto-dispenser type and the coffee was underwhelming. I was sore from a long bicycle ride over the mountains and needed to soak in the tub. To my dismay, the tub did not have a non-slip bottom and I had to struggle to safely sit back then get back up again. This absolutely needs to be remedied. Lack of a safe tub robs my review of the 5th star.
Our first room was a suite with a pull out bed. That bed was filthy (hair, dirt, crumbs, etc.) and the mattress was a pad of coil springs under a covering so thin the springs could be seen - no padding at all. Called the attendant on the front desk - I believe her name was Barbara - and she was wonderful. She came to the room immediately, was very apologetic about the bed, and got us into another room. In the "new" room the linen appeared to be clean, but there was mold in both the mini-fridge and in the bathtub. This was a bad experience. The only real positive was Barbara!
$155 for a motel. Air didn't get cold. Room was dirty. Internet was nonexistent. Should have stayed somewhere else
The place was under remodeling and they didn't let me know so there was no breakfast like the site said. We had 6 people and they only gave enough towels for 3 and di not change our sheets like we asked when we stayed 4 days. The pool had bugs in it, and they would not give me more coffee.
The room smelled like marijuana, The price was over 125 and no breakfast! I felt they could lower the price because of the no breakfast. Also the swill they call coffee in the room....the managers and owners should be forced to drink it! Also, 2 towels in a room for 4???
family owned hotel remodeling rooms did not affect stay great new floors being put it . Breakfast was good 1st day great waffles, unfortunately had a problem rest of stay but they went ahead and remodeled so all should be good now.
We were traveling back from South Carolina my daughter granddaughter and I. Looking for a hotel most places were booked was able to find this hotel that had opening. The price was not the same as listed on TripAdvisor and they would not honor the price on TripAdvisor. The hotel also had no breakfast service but we're still charged the higher rate for our room I feel if the breakfast service is not working they should have given us a reduced rate or given a voucher for mcDonald's or something. There was very well clean very nice beds are comfortable we literally just went into the shower slept got up and left.
