Super 8 Columbia Dwntwn SC2.0 out of 5.0

I was driving and got too tired to continue for the day. My needs were simple. I wanted a door that locked, (+) a clean toilet (+) AC that works (+) and a clean bed. ( jury is out on that one). 1 lamp not working. Holes in wall from previous TV mount were not deal breakers but don't help. Mattress was almost as hard as the floor. No real blanket. Bedspread is a synthetic fabric that could be classified as plastic. Even though the rate is seriously inexpensive, I feel cheated.
Wow the jacuzzi suite was awesome for my birthday only thing it could of been a little cleaner and maybe a coffee maker but other than that me and my husband really enjoyed ourselves we'll definitely be back soon.
This was the worst motel I've ever stayed at. Felt like I was in a seedy motel, not a super 8. Dirty, cigarette burns, broken furniture, deplorable.
We requested a non smoking room. The door had a smoking room plaque on the outside. We did not enter the room and immediately requested a non smoking room. The manager resisted, stating, "You have used the room. You can't request a new room." We reinforced the FACT that we had not entered the room. We were assigned a non smoking room, with a non smoking plaque on the outside of the door. When we opened the door a cockroach ran away from the door and under the bed. The carpet was so filthy it crunched underfoot. Large spider webs were visible in every corner. The bathroom had a dead cockroach in the bathtub. Two spiders were hanging from their webs on the shower head. Three crickets jumped out from behind the toilet. The mini fridge had another dead cockroach in it. When we returned home we disinfected everything we had taken on the trip.
This place was a great room for a great price right near the airport. Easy access to downtown and the Riverbanks Zoo. I will stay here again. Great breakfast in the morning and a nice updated bar and restaurant on site called the Daily Phoenix. Good food and service. Overall fantastic value.
Workers are nice but Hotel wasn't worth more then $55 it was in the shape of a motel but higher cost but workers great. I would sleep in my car before paying to stay there breakfast ended at 9am we missed it .
Very low cost to stay. This was the minimum that I needed for a place to sleep overnight. The furniture is very old but still in order. The place gets cleaned but I would say that it is clean. Your choice to save $20 or stay in another hotel.
Nice place to rescue when your are traveling big distances. The prices are very fair. The only opportunity of improvement is the breakfast, could be better. Columbia is a very nice city to spend a couple of days
I booked room 106, a king room with microwave, fridge and coffee machine which cost $54 + tax per night. I have a yorkie so they wanted to charge me an additional $15 which I refused to pay as I know of one other chain which does not charge a fee for pets. When I refused to book a room, they waived the pet fee which was very decent of them. The room was clean but one electrical outlet wasn't working. No tissue paper was included in the room. The tv wasn't working but when informed, they promptly replaced the remote control. They said that HBO Channel was included but I never found it. There was no tv channel list in the room and no guide on the remote. The tv station reception was unclear, almost what you used to get when you used rabbit ears (very snowy) certainly not HD quality. The room is completely carpeted except for the bathroom. The bed was king size and a platform bed. Breakfast is included but minimal. Coffee, juice (terrible tasting ... much like Tang), bread to make toast, two different cereals and that's it. There were no lids for the cups so it could be dangerous to transport hot coffee. Really? How much more can it cost to ensure your patrons are safe from burns from hot liquids? Desk staff was kind enough to assist me by bringing my coffee and juice to my car. Unfortunately, I would not stay at this facility again.
I travel over 75 nights per year, This is the first time I ever checked in to a hotel and was there for about an hour and didn't even bother to check out and I left. I went up the road to Bayfield Inn. It wasn't the cost, it was the environment. This hotel seems to be a social hang out spot for some less than stellar activities that I just don't need to be around.
