Was here from the Kind und Jugen trade fair last month, the receptionist were well mannered and english speaking, above all, everyone of them were very helpful. For room, space wise was so so but it was clean, so overall it was a positive stay. The only down site of it is that i feel that there's lack of lights in the room, just feel that the brightness is not enough. Next to the hotel there's Mcdonald's, convenient as it is. Breakfast spread was great, clean and comfortable. The breakfast area is overlooking the greenery, very cozy. Convenient to the town and accessible to the train station. Good for families and as well as couples or business.
We are a family with a 15 and 16 year old. The hotel was ideally based and getting the tram (a short and easy walk) to the centre of town was part of the Cologne experience. The room we were allocated was small but ok. Breakfast was perfect, the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again either with the family on holiday or for working in Cologne.
Clean tidy hotel , English speaking staff made the check in easy and quick. The room had all I needed for the over night stop. Easy to find with good auto bahn access I enjoyed the breakfast offered at the hotel
As there is plenty information about the hotel in other reviews I'll concentrate mine around facilities for disabled guests. I'll start from the bathroom, which apart from small imperfections doesn't have any major faults. It is a decent size bathroom with numerous hand rail to assist the transfer from the wheelchair. The sink is high enough to "drive underneath" and the mirror can be adjusted to the level of wheelchair user as well as to a standing guest.The 3 main things which can be an issue in my opinion are: lack of horseshoe type of toilet seat, position of the shower head (can be hard to reach so make sure it is down before jumping into a shower) and position and the type of the soap dispenser, which requires use of two hands it is also quite far away to reach from the shower seat. When it comes to the room its really spacious and easy to move around. The right hand side of the bed is the one you have to access the bed if you don't walk or stand at all as the gap between the left side and the wall is too narrow for the chair. The only other thing which affected me is the location of the room as on the first floor the noise coming from the nearby motorway are still very vivid, but that might not be an issue for you. Overall from the disabled point of view I'm rating the facilities on 8/10
Family had breakfast together in the hotel, it was okay, pretty basic continental breakfast, no real English or American breakfast, but that's fine. However my mother and I shared a boiled egg and got a terrible bacterial infection that we had to go to the doctor for and were prescribed antibiotics. Pretty sure it was this egg as my father and sister who also had breakfast and all the meals with us in the past few days, they didn't get it. Other than the egg anything mother and I shared we shared with the rest of the family so it's a pretty safe assumption. Other than that it's a pretty nice hotel, just don't try the boiled egg!
We stayed here only for one night. If you are am American traveler, it is what you would expect of this chain of hotels - friendly and efficient, clean and air-conditioned, modern in its amenities. You don't get much local flavor or local character but that is the trade off. Overall a pleasant stay;
This is the first Holiday Inn Express that was well below our expectations. The neighbourhood seems a bit undesirable. There are no dinner options in the hotel, only breakfast. There is a Mc Donalds next door and a Brauhaus restaurant about 10 minutes walk from there, but nothing else. The centre of town is quite a long way to get to by public transport. The double bed in the room was very narrow, which is unusual for a Holiday Inn express.. The extractor fan in the bathroom made a lot of noise and stayed on for a long time after you turned of the light. We asked reception if this was the same in all the rooms, which is so according to the desk staff. We were advised to take the key card out at night to stop this noise. According to her a lot of guests end up doing this ?? But we do like to have electricity, so we put up with the noise instead. The room was very warm, the air-conditioning helped a bit, but also added to the noise. On the upside, breakfast was fairly good.
Picked this hotel because it was easy to access from the autobahn and there was easy access to the centre of Koln using the underground. Room was clean and adequate, Staff were friendly and breakfast was OK.
Its a holiday inn express so your expectations need to be reasonable. EUR 10 semi secure car parking per night. Easy hotel check-in. Breakfast comes inclusive and there is also a small hotel bar. Good wifi. For the cost per night, its excellent value for money.
Good value, slightly out of town but very easy links to the center. Good restaurants in the area. WiFi fast and reliable, parking, staff good, nice bar, room good. Breakfast good. Staff good. Assay access to the Cologne messa. Will use again.
