Nice location downtown, pics not reflective
This is the first time I’ve rented a property and not felt comfortable staying in it. We travel frequently to various cities and countries and I feel that while I have high expectations for general sanitation & appreciate a nice aesthetic, I can stay comfortably in most tropical locations that have musty smells, poor sanitation, etc.
The property manager was amazing and responsive to our report that there was a bad smell (cat or human urine) in the carpeted stair entrance up to the apt. He came by and did not recognize the same smell that my husband and two kids did. We also noticed the condition of the flat was more worn than photos showed. He graciously offered us an alt property for the same cost. When we got to that second property, he had sprayed some febreeze before we entered. When that febreeze settled, we noticed a smell throughout the house akin to a wet dog. There was a dog door and it is likely that the home was either occupied by a dog or was a rental that allowed animals. We stayed in that location for two nights before electing to purchase another VRBO through another company and forfeit our remaining balance. The second house was spacious and fully stocked. It was in a deprived part of town on a block adjacent to the freeway . The backyard was spacious but all the grass was dead. In general, would not recommend these properties.
