Most of the pictures this hotel provides to Trip Advisor, Expedia, and other travel is from 2012. There is NO swimming pool as listed on numerous websites. Upon check in, a hotel maintenance man informed me the swimming pool was filled with cement as it was too expensive to maintain. I immediately requested a refund which the front desk promised would be refunded to my card.3 months ago. Now the hotel post the charge back to my card, because the hotel staff never processed a refund. Be wise and avoid this hotel.
We booked this room for Saturday, July 15. Upon arrival, we "should have known" something was amiss. Not only was the parking lot a mess but one could instantly see broken windows, doors and debris everywhere. The so-called clientele sitting out in front of the entrance doors was enough to put my daughter and I "on guard" -- while I was trying to check us in, she was keeping a very watchful eye on her car! Second amiss, was that they couldn't find our reservation. Got past that. Was given "directions" to our room and was INSTANTLY insulted by the building care. Broken room windows, doors off hinges, carpeting stunk and was stained throughout. Key swipe for doors didn't work and the list goes on. When one's car is worth MORE than the ENTIRE establishment, Houston there IS a problem. We eventually got into our room and was again APPALLLED. Long story, err, nightmare made short, we opted to NOT stay there after our event was over. My daughter retrieved our bag from the room and at 2 am we are headed to a rest area to eventually sleep in our car. It was AWFUL. The old saying is true "you get what you pay for" -- and NO, I did NOT receive a refund.
This place is super creepy. I will stay almost anywhere and have extremely low requirements for hotel rooms. This place felt like an abandoned hospital. Awful. Legitimately scary. It feels like a haunted house maze getting to your room. I've stayed at some wild places before but this was absolutely the worst place. It felt like the Walking Dead. Since we booked the room through Hotwire, we knew we couldn't get a refund so we just left and came home to Chicago. Everything was smelly and stained and broken and just super not worth the $30 we paid for the room. None of the outside doors closed, so there was no way to secure the hallways. There are pictures on Trip Advisor of a decent looking lobby and rooms- the hotel might have looked like that at one point, but definitely does not look like that in 2016.
The manager was accommodating, but that was the highlight of our one night stay. The hotel description and pictures must be from 20 years ago and the good reviews I am tempted to say are paid reviewers. This place is not even remotely close to being a good place to stay. The hotel is under construction...not parts of it...the entire building, debris and dirt everywhere. Bad lighting in the halls, security doors left open even at night, no phones in rooms so we had to drive around to the office to complain that the first room had a clogged sink with filthy water in it. Second room had no hot water...beds were horrible, lumpy and uncomfortable. I also did not feel safe AT ALL..I could not sleep, door locks are inadequate, I spent half the night wondering if someone was going to break in. Questionable people in halls, boarded up windows in the rooms, windows looking out into the hallway, felt very creepy and unsafe. This place should be condemned. Stay FAR FAR away! If it had not been so late that first night I would have been LONG gone!
Location- Right off of Comanche Ave, it makes the surrounding business's suffer because of the poor upkeep on the parking lot and building. Building condition- Upon check in the place was scary, really scary. It looks like the hotels you see in movies where the rooms are full of junkies and hookers, oh wait, it was full of junkies and hookers! For some reason we accepted checking in to a room and it was disgusting. The A/C didn't work and there was throw-up in the sink. We asked for a different room and when they moved us it was like the same room on the other side of the hotel. At this point we opted to just call it and asked for our money back. The staff refused to give us our money back so we waited for a manager to come in on Monday. The manager yelled at us and refused to give us a refund and then accused us of throwing up in the sink!!! Bottom line- DON'T EVER STAY HERE......EVER!!!!
I got the room online through a booking site that I use. When I drove to the Inn I should have known this was going to be bad. I thought that I should just surrender the two nights that I paid for because with this place you have to cancel by noon the day before. So I could not cancel Monday and not knowing what the room was like since check in is not till 3 p.m. I walk into the lobby and that was real nice and looks as if it had been done recently. I talked to the lady behind the desk and she was quite pleasant and cheerful. Just as was the lady in the morning. I am not going to reveal the woman's name that I dealt with in the evening. She will be spoken about later as well. So not ever being here I asked her about the town and where would be somewhere to go for dinner that night and she gave me some good suggestions. Then after our little chitchat she gave me my key and I was on my way. I went to my car and then drove where she told me that would be the easiest way to my room. Also take into consideration that there are people and families that live there too. I walk into the hall way and it was dirty and not appealing at all. Also had a certain smell coming from one of the rooms down further from mine. I knew that I smelled that before but could not put my finger on it. That to I will get into more on my second day there. I walk into my room and it looked decent. Had a fridge and microwave. Also a tv. The tv was maybe 19 inches and it was an older one. The micro and fridge looked as to have seen better days. I looked into the bathroom and it seemed well kept. I then started to do more inspection of the place and saw torn and stained carpet around the outer boundaries of the room. Thinking that I had a couple of hours before dinner that I would just lay on the bed and relax for a bit. I laid on the bed and just sunk while laying in the middle. The bed was shot. It was quite uncomfortable. Every time I wen to get out. I had to roll up a little hill to get off the bed and my back would hurt for a few minutes when I finally was able to stand. When I got back and felt like a snack. I went to the lobby and asked the lady if there was a snack machine and she said all we have is a soda machine and you could get something at the gas station next door. I said ok and thank you. It seemed to be a little inconvenience but not to much of one. Thinking in my head if they had one it would please the customer better and also be another way to make money as well. So I went back to my room after all that and called it a night. Second day I went down for their continental breakfast that I saw they had. I got there and all they had was coffee and orange juice. So I figured by now that they are not going to offer something that was said in reading on this place. So I went on my way to do sightseeing and just enjoying the beautiful November day. So when I got back in on Tuesday night I notice the outdoor cracked open and also the room next to it as well. I thought nothing of it at the time as I could not still place my finger on what it was. So I went on my way back to my room. After making a few phone calls I went to get a soda. As I was walking by. The room that had that smell to it. The guy had his curtain wide open and he glanced at me and well I glanced back and notice the woman that was suppose to be working the desk was in his room and then I realized what the smell was. I saw him taking a hit off of his joint. I continued to go and get my soda and as I was walking to exit the lobby to go back to my room she was coming in. I said hi and she was not her bubbly self as she was the night before. You could see in her eyes and emotions that she was baked as well. As known people that have done this. It was quite easy to make out. It was a miserable and very big disappointing stay. Apparently the owner of this place does not care what their workers do or about the upkeep of their property. They have a conference center as well as a bar but did not see the bar opened anytime I was there. I do feel that there is a lot of seedy things going on at this place. It is not a place to bring your kids to period. If you are on a budget and need a place to stay then by all means do so. If you can go somewhere else then by all means do so.
Stayed here late May 2015 and when I showed up I thought my GPS had taken me to the wrong address because this place looked abandoned. I called from the parking lot to make sure I was at the right place and unfortunately, I was. The place looked sketchy as hell but I was by myself and got it for free through a rewards program. Since I had no one to impress with me and can handle myself, I stayed (but there is a sign at the front desk that says "no refunds"). They give you a TV remote at check-in and it didn't work. I never had a working TV and just surfed the net on my Macbook (they have wifi but it has peaks and valleys). I didn't sleep under the sheets so I slept in my clothes to stay warm (the room only had a cold air option). My second day there I noticed two bugs crawling on the shower curtain and three weird blood-like stains on one of the three bed pillows. When I got back to my room the second day I found no one had cleaned it and I had no new towels. I called the front desk and was told that I needed to bring my old towels to the front desk myself to get new ones. I was about to ask if they ever send people to clean the rooms but thought better of it. Why even ask? This was a zombie hotel that was straight out of the Walking Dead. It is what it is. I carried my old towels to the lobby and got new ones. While I was there some young-ish guys were asking for the cheapest room they could get with some cash. The poor woman at the front desk had to let the guys see the room first because only some rooms had air. Yep. I'll also say that the first night I was a bit freaked out about leaving my car in the lot. I was worried it may get broken into or screwed with in some way. I also had weird dreams both nights and the first night I dreamt that things got super loud and people were pouring into the room. Was it really a dream? Who knows, but I did make sure to deadbolt the door for my safety like the sticker says on the back of your room door. I talked to a local during my stay about the hotel and apparently the hotel is known as a shady place for drugs and stuff. It used to be Motel 6 a long time ago and, sure enough, the microwave in my room had "Motel 6, Clinton, IA" written in marker on the back of it. So, would I recommend this place? Uh, no. I considered leaving after the first night but then saw it as a personal challenge to stay and complete my time at the zombie hotel. Unless you're adventurous like that, stay somewhere else. If you have a significant other with you, DEFINITELY stay somewhere else or it may be the end of your relationship. Just a side note, I only interacted with two staff members, two women at the front desk. They were fine. I actually feel sorry for them that they have to work there. I'm sure they have to deal with a lot of weirdos and know the place is a dump. I hope they can find a better place to work soon and that the area had a better economy that would allow that to happen. Good luck and stay safe!
I stayed at this hotel last night. When the desk clerk explains that everyone must produce their drivers license as the hotel has a bad reputation in the area as a prostitution and drug stop, I should have left right away. Having a bathroom that does not flush nor having been given towels gives an idea of the lack of service. I have so many issues with this dirty place - too much to bother stating. Just take my advice and steer clear!
This motel requires a lot of upgrades to be up to standards. Housekeeping was lacking consistency (there were old M&Ms on the floor of the breakfast room all the days of my stay). Some of the residents were noisy at nidnight or early in the morning. The fire alarm system went off one morning around 5 AM. I did have a wonderful bed, and there were a microwave and small fridge in the room.
Front desk clerk was cheerfuland helpful. Room was nicely appointed and very clean. The attached bar had a decent beer selection and was reasonably priced. Great spot for a nightcap! People who were talking about the "boarded up rooms" must not have realized tht the rooms wer in the process of being renovated. The current onwers are in the process of bringing this hotel back to its former glory. The staff here will bend over backwards to make sure your stay is as pleasant as can be!
