We stayed in a cottage #4 at Tanglewood, one-time estate of the tobacco magnate William Neal Reynolds that has been a Forsyth County park since 1951. The four cottages are in the woods down a gravel road branching off from the main park road. The cabin had a living room with a big TV, a full kitchen, and two bedrooms. Our only problem was that we got detailed directions for access, door code, etc only about noon of our day of arrival. The accommodation was nothing fancy — rural cabin — but clean. We hiked on park trails in the afternoon and watched horses grazing.

It was a very spacious rental with 3 bedrooms a kitchen and living area. The setting was great and you really feel like you are out in the woods even though you are right in the middle of town. Very centrally located with easy access to shopping, food and the highway.

There were no personnel on site to answer questions. There was absolutely NO amenities whatsoever, except a couple pods of coffee, No breakfast, not even a drink machine on the entire property. Closest food establishment was a subway, off the property and 2 miles down the road, entry into the hotel was via a code sent via email, same with entrance to the room. The website was very miss leading. About the entire place. In the evening, a gentleman showed up and when ask about the availability of all this, was apologetic, but offered no ideas, sorry about that , was his reply. I told I would never come back and was going post this review. I will never recommend this subpar establishment to anyone, or return there....

We loved the online check in and room code, never having to see anyone and not being rushed or havibg to wait was amazing. The room was gorgeous and comfortable. We walked the arboretum garden at sunset and even in the fall, it was beautiful. We will definitely make this an annual trip!

I've been staying at the Manor House since 2018. Unfortunately the service has been cut back so much. There's no one to greet you and show your room. It's done by text. They used to serve the best little breakfast and all that has been done away with. The first room we were checked into seemed to be missing furniture. No dresser, no chair, and the refrigerator was broken. They did switch us to another room, which was much better. I love this home, and it's too bad it isnt more popular and able to be properly staffed.

Awful place!

Cabin was filthy. Towels were stained and dishes were dirty. Bugs all over the cabin. Playgrounds were under construction. Pool area was closed. Extremely over priced for what you’re getting, would not recommend with young children. We needed up going to a hotel close by. Oh ya, a pesticide company came a strayed the cabin while we were sitting there. Not even a word was said to us.

The house was beautiful on the outside. I liked the old look of the interior. The bed was comfortable. I like a soft bed so for me it was fine. But if you like a firm bed room 321 is not for you. Now the room was fine but the bathroom on the other hand. The grout that was once white was dingy brown to dark brown all over. The prison style toilet was awful. The seat didn’t fit it. Water pressure was not good. When you have to flush no.1 twice to get it to go away and no2 9 times! There’s a problem. Sorry if some are offended by that. Put a normal toilet with a tank in the room! Also i know an old house like this has a smell, but you need to put in all new duct work and a system that filters that musty moldy smell out. If you have any kind of sinus issues. Don’t stay here. I was clogged the next morning. All said and done it wasn’t a horrible stay. But i can’t stay there again until some renovation to the plumbing, hvac and tile work is done. For the 155 dollars i paid for one night. Those things should not have been so obvious of issues. Location is great view was great. So here is hoping that you all do some of those things in the near future. Because that would get more people back there repeatedly. I know i would like to! But that dingy brown dark brown tile that you know was white. Just turned me off from wanting to stay again.
