Stay away unless you want your car jacked! Owners refused to not charge my card after I expressed that my wife was not comfortable staying and leaving our new vehicle parked along the street in this poverty stricken neighborhood.
Stay away! Was not impressed. The paint on the wall in our room was dark purple, almost looked black.Dusty lamp, dust bunnies in corner. Floor in bathroom and bedroom was painted black and did not look clean due to paint on floor. Photos on internet were taken before painting and looked rather nice. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable and the window unit AC kept us cool on a hot humid night. We left before breakfast.
I spent one night at the B&B. The couple who own the house are very pleasant. Pros: Comfortable bed Nice towels Cons: Window A/C that didn't really cool the room Creaky floors Bathroom with older tub and no counter space Mirror in bathroom is difficult to use for applying make-up Breakfast isn't served until 9:00 - no other option The price wasn't too expensive, but I wouldn't stay here again because the bathroom really needs to be remodeled. (The toilet and pedestal sink look new, but the layout isn't convenient.) My room had rather large dust bunnies next to the the nightstand. I'd say it hadn't been swept in a while.
Absolutely horrible customer service. My boyfriend and I were coming to Cincinnati for a wedding and booked a room here two months in advance for two nights. The day before we were booked to arrive, my boyfriend called to confirm our arrival the following day. They informed us on this phone call that we no longer had a room and that they had given it away! They decided to give our room away with no notice and no warning; they weren't going to even tell us! If he did not call, we would have shown up the following day with nowhere to stay. They claim the credit card did not go through, but they never called or emailed to ask what the problem was or if we wanted to cancel our booking. We clearly did NOT want to cancel because we would have canceled the reservation. So they obviously knew that there was an issue but didn't bother to let us know, so instead of giving us any fair warning, they just gave the room away! Mind you, this is one day before arrival so all the other hotels in the area were either booked or extremely expensive. We were on the phone with management for over an hour and they were horribly cold and not at all sympathetic. We were told there was nothing they could do and tried to blame us! If you want to make sure you have a place to stay, DO NOT STAY HERE! This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Very friendly owners and with a sweet puppy. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a night and it was a bargain! Location is great. It's close to downtown without being caught up in the hustle and bustle. You are less than twenty minutes from most major Cincinnati attractions.
This was my first Bed and Breakfast and it was a great experience. When I looked on Expedia this place was listed among the other choices and the price was very affordable. It is requested that you call ahead of your arrival in order to notify them of your arrival time. The house is across the street from a great park with reading benches and tables to sit at (it lights up at night with fire flies). There is a railing that has been put up next to the front steps. There is plenty of parking outside of the home as well. Ethel greeted me upon my arrival and welcomed me to their home. I was shown my room, as well as the washroom (shared with other guests) and gave me information on the door code and wifi. The room was very comfortable. clean and had plenty of space in it. There was a dresser, closet and double bed. The room also had a TV and window air conditioning unit. The other rental room is a touch larger and has a sitting area in it. Previous reviews commented on the bathrooms flaws which have now been changed. There is a linen closet with supplies and fresh towels. The toilet is newer as well as the sink. The bathtub/shower is a bit run down but it is an older home. The breakfasts were served at 9. There was coffee provided in a french press. On my first morning we were served Goetta (a German inspired Cincinnati special of meat and grain sausage). Ethel also made a special dish of egg, nectarines and raisin bread. On the second morning there was fruit, scrambled eggs and biscuits. Time around the table with Ethel, Barry and other guests was definitely a highlight. Ethel and Barry have a dog names Luna and she was a blast to have around. She is very friendly and good with guests. The location of the B&B is great. It is about 10 minutes from the Cincinnati Zoo, 5 minutes from the university, 5 minutes from Over the Rhine (a popular district for restaurants, shops and park) 5 minutes to downtown and 10 minutes from the Stadiums (Great American Ballpark and Paul Brown Stadium). It is well worth checking out if you are heading to the Cincinnati area, looking to meet some new people and find a place close to all the action.
Very comfortable and clean. The owners were very accommodating and great company! Breakfast was tasty and timely! Loved the French pressed coffee. Luna, their dog was cool too! PS, loved the minimalistic modern decor.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay here. It was just a quick drive to anywhere and a short walk to an excellent view of the city. Breakfast was really good and gave us time to get to know our hosts and their adorable dog, Luna. We even ended up staying a second night because we felt so comfortable there and we were too tired to drive all the way home after a day at the zoo. They were very accommodating and we will definitely come back if we are ever in Cincinnati again.
What a jewel of a find. Breakfast was great and different. I am a vegetarian and they accommodated me with flair. Loved my room with great bedding. I took walks in the neighborhood and enjoyed all the different homes and small trails nearby. Barry and Ethel took me for cinc ice cream and drove me around to see some sites. So pleased with this find.it was like visiting family each time. It's not fancy but so worth the stay.
Had to carry my bag up 6 concrete stairs with no guardrail! Upon arrival the owners were not present, luckily for us the other guests arrived 10 minutes later and let us in.In the kitchen were dirty dishes piled in the sink. The kitchen floor was half covered in black foam puzzle pieces the kind that are used for children in a preschool.Sitting room floor located off the bedroom was concrete, dusty & dirty.Remains from other travelers still lay on floor and crumbs were left all over the one chair! Lots of extension cords on the floor.Large portable air conditioner unit placed in front of a broken glass door that led to the outside. Most definitely a FIRE HAZARD!! Wood bedroom floors have seen better days and were very creaky with dust bunnies in the corners of the room.On the left side of the bed the floor were so uneven they had to put wood blocks under the night stand! There were cobwebs on the middle of ceiling above the bed and in the left ceiling corner was a small spider.Only two very old flat pillows adorned the bed. A small old blood stain was on the bottom sheet.Under the mattress pad were two old/dirty memory foam mattresses. Bathroom is in desperate need of a good cleaning/overhaul.Slider lock on bathroom door kept falling off (remember you are sharing this bathroom with other guests in the house) most definitely not a safe feeling. Bathroom window was rooted and had a rusty nail in it. Public hair on toliet, The bottom part of the toliet and tub needed a good, through cleaning! Low water pressure in the shower head. The faucet sink handle was rusty and the mirror was too high too see yourself in.The linen closet had concrete gaps surrounding it.Only parts of bathroom walls were painted lime green. STILL In the middle of a renovation?!! Broken glass surrounded the perimeter of the house, also an old sink and other trash were left in a pile in the back yard. We were told by the locals this B & B is located in a VERY, UNSAFE, part of town and that we better be very careful!! Locals also stated we were located in "the hood" Across the street was a store called "The Body Snatchers" Iron bars covered the window and if you were brave enough venture across the street to it you could not enter, order through outside only. When questioned owners about this store they stated it was safe. Very sketchy characters constantly hanging around it. Who ever did these pictures of this B & B made it look clean & charming, however, these pictures are VERY DECEIVING and this is definitely NOT the case. For the price I was not expecting "The Hilton" by any means however, I did expect it to be clean place and feel safe!! A word to the wise, spend your money on a hotel in a safe/better part of Cincinnati. Lesson learned, you most DEFINITELY get what you pay for!!!
