I can't say enough about this hotel or the superior staff members working there. I arrived very late at night, over seven hours late due to a cancelled flight that caused a reroute through Auckland. Worse yet, all of my luggage, winter clothes, meds and mobility walker had been lost by the airlines. From the moment I checked in at the front desk I knew I was in caring hands. The next morning, I was already feeling the effects of being without my six different meds (US TSA prevents certain amounts of certain meds to be in your carry-on). In addition to my having contacted the airline in question re my luggage and walker, the front desk persons got involved and meticulously kept checking until both arrived over 48 hours later. I had had to involve the US Embassy and my travel insurance company to find & deliver them due to my declining health to the point I was checking into an emergency evacuation back to the US. The day manager took it upon himself to drive me to their K-Mart where I purchased some clothing and toiletries to hold me over in the meantime. Later that day, he came up to my room and presented a very nice gift that he and his coworkers had bought for me. They were very informative about local attractions and were quick to Google info and maps for me. The buffet breakfast was awesome and the facilities spotless. My room, albeit a tad bit smallish, was perfect and kept very clean. I highly recommend this hotel for a stay of any length!

I love that this hotel is centrally located in downtown. It is very close to the cathedral plaza as well as an outdoor mall just a block away. In fact the evening that we stayed here, we were able to walk right around the corner to the plaza where there were food trucks parked. The rooms were clean and provided a microwave and refrigerator. They were very nice and clean, although a bit smaller than most other hotels we stayed at during our trip but maybe that is because it was in the city center. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful when we tried to make arrangements to the airport for the next morning. The hotel also offers free wifi in the lobby area for 1 hour which is nice.

The hotel is centrally located and easy to get to from the bus station. Then it is just short walks to explore the city.

Good all round hotel which, although part of a chain, I got MUCH cheaper on this site than via my hotel membership. As with many NZ and Australian hotels the coffee is instant but good coffee is available nearby. The restaurant is a bit overpriced but has a reasonable menu from which to select. The room was comfortable with ample power outlets to recharge laptop, phone and camera; and a good bathroom with plentiful hot water for shower.

The Ibis proved to be a fantastic choice as the reception staff were absolutely lovely and most helpful. The central location is excellent and the free wifi access much appreciated. The room was spacious, clean and fresh. BUT ... the shower was absolutely terrible. Only a very fine mist came through the shower head which made it impossible to even rinse the soap off let alone wash my hair! Sadly we will not use the hotel again as we do need to have a decent shower.

IBIS is awell known hotel chain. This facility is well maintained and very clean. Secure parking below the structure is rather expensive ($20 / nite) otherwise one must submit to an outside parking lot for a less expensive fee. Staff is friendly and courteous. Enjoyed my stay.

This was a sad experience. The parking was cramped and most everything around you was rubble. In fifty years it could come back One restrauant in 5 square blocks Hotel was nice but distuction everywhere. Overpriced for the area but one of the few buildings standing.Glad to be out of thereand never to go back.

I had some problems with my luggage and need to fly out of Christchurch at 6 am the next day. When I arrived at the city at 8.15 am, all the shops were closed. The hotel staff went to great lengths to provide me with 3 carton boxes so that I could place my cloths into them and proceed with my flight. They even brought the tape to seal the carton boxes. Thank you to the staff of Ibis Christchurch!

If you want to stay in the CBD this just might be the best option. It's affordable and while I would consider Ibis a mid-range budget hotel, this one is certainly well maintained and our room was clean and quiet. The only downside is that Internet access is expensive.

The room was very clean but our two beds were within 2 feet of each other. I wish there was a microwave in addition to the fridge. The biggest problem was the very limited WiFI, and only in the lobby. Once you started using your 30 min allotted time, even if you logged off before the 30 min expired, you lost your allotment for the day.

Very Clean, New hotel in the CBD. Overpriced due to lack of accommodation.

My friend and I were staying overnight in Christchurch before starting a tour the next day. The hotel was right downtown, clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff was very nice. The downtown area is still rebuilding after the earthquake, but no trouble getting around.

Shocked to see how devastated down town is 2 years after the earth quake. Still a nice shopping/cafe area 1 block away. Free WIFI through out the shopping district, about $20 a day at the hotel, don't bother with it, go have a cup of coffee and free internet instead. Decent restaurant. Walk to the botanical gardens which is fabulous. Free shuttle to the train station from the hotel.

The hotel itself is okay, but overpriced and overrated if you should have to pay the regular rate. It is close to the square and within easy walking distance to the central sights and the main bus station. This makes it great if you are traveling by public transit. The washroom has been updated and is very clean. The air conditioning unit was old and rattled quietly all night long. Unfortunately, our window faced a large white office building wall, making it very hard to gauge what the weather was like without having to go downstairs and outside first. Also, the people in the offices across the way had an excellent view of us with our curtains open. The small fridge was adequate, but the hotel provided only a few milk and coffee containers, so we had to search the staff for more.

Very clean, modern, helpful staff and great location

The staff are very welcome and great hospitality!!!! They are very helpful when we need some quick information! Great locetion and easy access to everywhere. The room is clean and modern. The only drawback is not enough parking space. We arrive late at 8pm and the valet parking is full. We need to park on the road, but overall I really enjoy my stay in this hotel
