Terrible. Smoke smell was horrid. Check in took 45 minutes. There was dried blood and urine stains on bedding. AC sparks flew when turned on. We checked in and checked back out. They did refund us our money that's why they get one star. And the only reason

Currently staying in room 325 with my mother, a smoking room, as a courtesy to my mother who is a smoker. Firstly, I did not even know these types of facilities still existed. Secondly, the smoky room is not even the biggest problem here. It is the absolutely filthy state of the room. The walls are stucco-ish and are dirty. There appears to be small stains and smears all over the place (bedroom and bathroom). If I really wanted to freak myself out, I could deduce that they are blood, but I don't think I would be able to sleep if I truly believed that there was a murder here. The bedsheets have cigarette holes in them, but the bed was decently comfortable and I slept through the night without incident. There were 6 flower petals found of the floor of our room- not vacuumed or removed from the previous occupant. The bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned before we arrived, which I know is a fact because there were clumps of hair all over the walls of the shower. Additionally there is mold and/or black and colorful stains in the bathroom around the base of the tub. In the hallways, there are obvious stains matted into the carpeting. I don't want to say "you get what you pay for" because I've stayed in motels that cost $35/night and have had extraordinarily better facilities than this. It is deeply troubling to me that this hotel passes health inspections.

Stinks of cigarettes our room had blood stained sheets and yellow stained sheets. The air conditioner shot sparks when turned on. I do understand that it's a value hotel but it's not, it's a diaster and these images do not represent the property. So in my opinion spend a tad more for a better place to lie your especially with clean linens.

Check in took over 30 min and couldn't understand a word he said to us. Left for a ball game came back thinking of going to shower and go to bed. But wrong. Hair in the tub. Hairs and stains on the sheets. Nothing looked cleaned at all dust on the tv was thick

Even though I personally made a reservation, this place had no record of it. Upon arriving, there were pimps and street walkers galore, and I thought I was in some poor third world country. I requested a downstairs room, because I am handicapped, and was given a room on the second floor. The receptionist could barely speak English, and I could hardly understand when he spoke. There was a filthy rag in the sink, and there were kids running down the hall late at night. As soon as morning came, I left this deplorable place as fast as I could. Despite the moderate pricing, it was not worth it.

The room wasn't bad. good value for the price. The hallway reeked of cigarette smoke. the second night there was a party in the room above us. there's no way the desk couldn't have heard it. We complained at 3 am , it had been going on for hours. it got a little less annoying but still continued. The next morning there we 3 police cars there arresting someone. Not sure if that was related. I wouldn't stay there again. there's way to much going on.

I noticed the property management has uploaded a number of pictures to Tripadvisor, and I'm inclined to comment. The pictures are representative, IMHO. The paint, trim, furnature, bedding and artwork jibe with the improvements I saw this summer (see my earlier review). These are improvements which have been made since the property became a Rodeway. Too, at the time of my last review, I noticed that they were in the process of replacing all the sinks in the rooms (a workman was actually working on this in the room across from mine, at the time). Some of the pictures are of a room that's rather lavishly appointed; there's a chair and ottoman in the corner near the bed, and opposite the bed there's a "hot tub". I've never stayed in a room like that at this property; evidently the room's some sort of upgrade from the norm.

I entered a review of this property about one year ago. I stayed again, recently, and thought an update would be appropriate. They've spruced the place up a little. I noted a few improvements around the property and in the room I was given. There's NEW PAINT and NEW CARPET in the lobby, hallways and my room (and, presumably, all of the rooms, but I can't attest). The room had a small FLAT-SCREEN TV (last year they had older, picture-tube TVs). For the record, it also had a microwave and fridge. Those are the improvements I noted; there may have been others that I missed. Upon arriving, I checked each bed's mattress and box spring for any history of "bugs"; I found none, which was good. I did not check behind the headboards. I wasn't "bitten" by anything during my one-night's stay. The bedding was clean. A flat sheet was used atop the mattress (not a fitted sheet). The mattress and pillows were acceptably comfortable. The bathroom was small and dated. In the bathroom behind the door I found some dust, and a small spider web (in the corner near the floor, like spiders will do). The bath towels weren't very soft. The hand towels were adequate. The A/C unit worked well and was quiet. This isn't a fancy hotel by any means, but it did the job and the price was low. I would stay again. See the details provided in my other review.

This property is very dated and has had no upkeep, and I would predict it will not be improved by the present management. There is really nothing to recommend this hotel. There no breakfast provided - coffee only. One thing it does have is a smoke smell in the lobby and the room smells of stale something or other? Just avoid it........................................

This property's now a Rodeway; it converted from a Super8 sometime in early 2014. I'm writing this review in Aug2014. I've stayed at this property a couple times a year for perhaps the last 10 years, both while it was a Super8 and, recently, as a Rodeway. It appears the same management is in place, as I recognized the guy at the desk (he's been there for as long as I can remember). Little by little, over the years, this property's become dated and run-down. I can't help but wonder if, with the conversion to Rodeway, it will eventually be refurbished to newer / better standards (I stayed at a Rodeway in Kearney, NE, a few days ago and it was quite nice as "economy" lodging goes; see Tripadvisor's reviews). As it is today, this Rodeway's not horrible. I would still stay there again. Read on. The neighborhood's acceptable; I don't consider it to be unsafe. The parking lot's lit well and it's big enough to accommodate the hotel's guests without crowded parking. The property's readily accessible from the interstate (I-80). It's a 2-story property in a quasi-residential neighborhood. The room accommodations are fair / poor. But... I've never been bit by bugs of any sort in all the years I've stayed there. It's a place to sleep, shower, and move-on. I usually get a room on the 2nd floor simply to avoid the noise of having someone trampling above (I do this at all hotels, not just this one). There are basic amenities nearby, e.g., Bob Evan's, Sam's Club, Steak n Shake, 7-11, and gas stations, but the area's not fancy; the better amenities are west a few miles on I-80 at the next exit. Other amenities are a bit north (1/2mi) of the property, on West Jefferson St. aka US52. In (very) nearby Rockdale there are a couple of nice neighborhood watering holes, i.e., Shep's and Angie's, located on or near Meadow Ave (see a map). When I'm staying in the area I make a point to have lunch at Shep's. Shep's and Angie's are within walking distance of each other, which allows for a "change of scenery" between libations. Both are an easy drive from the Rodeway on lightly-traveled streets, which is a plus. If you've time, consider walking the former towpath along the canal (formerly the I&M Canal) in Rockdale, or visiting the lock and dam nearby on the Illinois Waterway / Des Plaines River.
