We booked the PentaHotel in Chemnitz for 30 and 31 DEC, in order to shop the Erzgebirge markets in nearby Seiffen. The hotel is well-appointed, service is very good. However, what was not explained at any time was that on 31 DEC, the kitchen was closed. No service, no bar service, no room service, no food or drink available anywhere in the building for guests. However, a New Year's Eve party filled the restaurant with revelers, that guests were not informed about. We might have been appeased by knowing that we didn't plan ahead enough, that's life. Except that, when we approached the restaurant, an employee quickly offered to find us a table for the cost of the party tickets (90 euro/person)! Had the front desk informed us the party wasn't "sold out," we would have bought tickets immediately, run upstairs to dress, and enjoyed a fabulous night. Instead, we had to hunt down pizza delivery, then learn we could have joined the fun. We understand this could be a European/American difference in marketing approaches, but when your guests are hungry and can't get food, staff should at least offer what's already available. All this said, the overall Penta experience was quite nice. Breakfast was high quality, the rooms were clean, hallways were quiet on New Year's (except for constant fireworks outside). Any other night except the holidays, the hotel would get a four-star rating from us.
We spent our Christam Eve there because of a bad accident. We got superb rooms and the best available services from the staff. Quiet rooms to the garden, great restaurants nearby, quite and nice streets to walk around. Comfortable beds, everything super.
Furniture in rooms is old but clean. Outlets are missing so that I had to buy an extension cord at the german home depot. Brekafast is pretty good. The big disadvantage is the Wifi. Even with the 7€ fast pass it is not usable for a skype call.
Comfortable and good breakfast. Not a large lunch and dinner choice which is only available in the bar. Days when Lunch not even available. Football on loudly in bar for one guest and barman was not prepared to turn it down for other guests. Nice hotel but service could be better.
I love this hotel in that it is economic, the staff is great and it is convenient. However, it is time that they spend a little money to update the rooms. They updated the lobby, restaurant and lounge this year.
This is a nice hotel, the rooms are comfortable as well. What we did nont like, it is the impression when you get in you are not sure if this a hostel for young people. The workers are wearing jeans with holes and black t-shirts; worse style than in a fast food restaurant.
Very nice hotel with a fairly easy approach from the A4. For the travellers from outside of the the €zone: be careful while paying with card. Reception wanted me to pay in my national currency, not with €, so you are penalized with double exchange fee. That's not fair that national currency is a default option.
all over it was very good and comfortable with good breakfast. only the wifi was very slow and I could not work that night online. the reception desk is very slow and inefficient in handling the invoicing and the entrance process.
I tried a few hotels in Chemnitz and the Pentahotel is the best one so far. In fact, I will not look for another hotel unless the price becomes a real issue. The bar is very nice and the food they serve is very affordable (and good). The restaurant is very cozy and is perfect for couple that wants to take a few hours to enjoy a good dinner. My basic room was...basic but clean. The bathroom had a nice shower and is very well lighted, this is something that I like. I missed my face towels but this was expected as it is not a standard in Germany. Highly recommended.
Nice hotel with an lot of space in the chamber. The bar in the hotel was also very nice and the service was good. The only thing what can be better is the outfit of the people who are working in teh hotel.
