I travelled in and out of the Residence Inn South at I-77/Tyvola Rd for about a total of 4 weeks. 1 week in September, and 3 Weeks this month, and I had a beautiful stay. The Staff starting with BeBe, Megan, Ben, and even the whole entire breakfast and dinner staff were amazing. Courtney the Manager was amazing as well! Quick to answer any issues and resolve all of them. I recommend anyone to stay there. Rooms are clean, and the beds were comfy. I will stay here again for all my needs when I am in Charlotte.

First, the good points about this hotel- The location of this Marriott is very convenient. There is quick access to regular fare restaurants, gas station, the interstate highway and easily accessible to South Park, uptown Charlotte or to get around in general. The hotel itself is relatively quiet and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. All the appliances worked; the refrigerator, stove, garbage disposal, microwave, dishwasher, and the heat and air conditioner. You may wonder why I brought this up. This leads me to the bad points..... This Marriott is incredibly in need of a remodel. The décor is horribly out-of-date, including the drapes, carpeting, and all the appliances are really old and dated. If I had to estimate, I'd say the refrigerator and stove were from the early 80's at best but more likely from the late 1970's. I will say, ALL of the appliances in spite of age worked perfectly well and I was pleasantly surprised. Another bad sign of wear and tear is the stairways going up to the 2nd floor units. Stairs are comprised of cement, steel caps on stair edging, and wooden decks on the landings and balcony. The steel end caps on the stairs in some places had rusted completely through. A lot of the wood on the balconies, while painted, have seen much better days. It's a shame as this Marriott has some charm potential here, but it appears to be just tired and aged. The location is busy enough, and I'm surprised updating hasn't taken place as it certainly is a busy location. I will say, the surrounding areas don't feel all that 'safe'. Not the hotel it'self, but some surrounding areas in the immediate vicinity. For instance, the gas station on the corner has up to 6 homeless men who hang or 'live' there. One young lady was so incapacitated she was nodding off while sitting on cases of water just outside the convenience store. Some of the homeless have literally built 'nests' in shrubbery around various business in the immediate vicinity of this hotel also. The Hilton next door suffers the same fate as this Marriott with what is declining in the area surrounding them. It just didn't feel all that safe like other locations. Could this be why no upgrade to this Marriott?--- I don't know. I just won't be in a hurry to recommend this location to out-of-towners. It's really too bad as I really want to.

I found the room very comfortable, and the space was just perfect for two people, the kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and it was clean. The breakfast was also very good and the coffee station had my favorite flavor creamer. The rate was also acceptable. Now the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

After a long Veterans day weekend, I was greeted by two of the best receptionists that I have ever encountered in my 21 yrs plus service in the U.S.Army. BEBE, AND COURTNEY is an awesome duo! Not only did they accommodate our needs with a smile, their persistence for customer satisfaction went above and beyond. I'm not one to normally write reviews because its enough negative views, however, I would feel less than a Man if I didn't brag on two of the best people my wife and I have ever encountered. We thank you both and look forward to seeing you more as we plan our trips in this area! Thanks and they both need to be promoted immediately. You will always have friends, "The Pruitt Family"

A popular hotel given the full parking lot of cars & busy breakfast buffet. Hotel room furniture needs updating. Room was clean & beds comfortable. Great pressure on shower heads. Hotel staff at all levels friendly & accommodating. Always looking to satisfy & improve your stay. Breakfast was good when you could actually get some. Staff was slow to replenish most/all items but did notice several guests each morning with heaping plates like it was their last meal & with no regards for others trying to eat. If necessary, would stay here again.

The room is nicely laid out with updated features and amenities. The bathroom is large, making it easy for two people to move around while getting ready. The kitchen is adequate and the living space is large enough for a long weekend or week long visit. One thing I would change is to please put an exhaust fan in the bathroom! Between the steam and other bathroom like odors, it would be nice for there to be a vent, so fresh air can circulate.

Furniture needs major updating! Housekeeping only came by one day, but it was okay I was alone. The breakfast could be a little more diverse. The fridge was creepy. Major stains in new carpet! If in a pinch I would stay here......

Marriott should be mortified to have their name on this property. PROS: Great location just off i-77 in a quiet "hotel" neighborhood. Front desk staff was cheerful and welcoming. Bed was comfortable. CONS: My room was on the second floor and the door was accessed via a wooden deck. Some of the deck planks were rotted through - meaning jagged gaps through which you could see the space underneath. There were some very soft areas that I avoided walking on also. The deck had been painted over rather than replacing the rotted boards. The stairs leading up to my room were littered with cigarette butts. The love seat in the room had a 12" rip in the fabric. The cushion springs on half of the love seat had bottomed out and the cushion sat several inches lower than the other side of the seat. The cutting board in the kitchen was FILTHY. I tried scrubbing it and gave up. I cut up a cantaloupe on a plate instead. I put the cut-up cantaloupe in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning it was a frozen block. I hadn't occurred to me to check the settings. The last person must have put everything on the lowest settings. Kitchen supplies were not replaced by housekeeping during my stay - salt packets and microwave popcorn ran out. I had breakfast one morning in the lobby area. Several key items ran out and the staff was extremely slow in replacing the eggs, fruit, plates, forks, etc. I visit Charlotte at least once a month for business and this is the worst hotel I have stayed at in over a year of business travel.

We stayed here in a two room suite with my daughter, sister, nephew and mother, and we had plenty of space for the family. There was a little kitchenette, and while yes, the appliances probably need updating, everything was very neat and clean. We really enjoyed the suite space and being able to close doors when the youngest was asleep. The hotel itself was very convenient, right next to the interstate. There were LOTS of families staying here, and everyone, staff and visitors staying, seemed very nice. Parking was a little crowded, but worked out okay anyway. Perhaps not a great place for people who need lots of perfect quiet, but wonderful for families. Lots of kids were playing ball at a small court behind the office building. I enjoyed breakfast, decent eggs and sausage, with waffles and an assortment of oatmeal and doughnuts, etc. Whole family seemed to enjoy themselves, and the staff was very friendly and helpful!

What an awful experience, truly the worst I've ever experienced!! Got in late, moving my daughter back to college, didn't have any dinner, so grabbed a couple of snacks from their little kiosk. Went to the room, had some of popcorn, tasted terrible and stale, but it was to late, I spit it out, but didn't stop the spoiled food from making me ill. The food was 10 days past it's date on the package. I was sick much of the night and had to move my daughter into her dorm the following day. In the morning I went to the front desk, showed Ahmed the food, he gave me two dollars, and said, "It's only outdated by 7 days"!! It was ten, even the math is an issue for them, hope he doesn't often have to make change. Checked the kiosk before I left, the food was still out for sale! My wife spoke with an assistant manager, she gave us 2000 Marriot points, and said she'd pass it onto the manager, never heard back from them. I should have had an apology and a full refund! Never, ever, will I return to this Marriot!
