Only stayed for one night. The check in and out was very smooth.Hotel close to Highways(N1 S&N) ,it has a restuarant and small bar . The room was surprisingly big ,shower was also spacious . It had all the basic hotel entities including a hair dryer. I enjoyed my stay ,I will recommend this hotel.
A small business hotel not far from the Mall of Africa. It is just off Samrand road. Between Johannesburg and Pretoria, convenient for access to Midrand and Centurion. Small conference room and pool. Parking is uncovered. Breakfast is good. There is a room service option. Staff a bit unmotivated. Rooms are large. Shower has poor pressure. Beds needs attention, ours was sagging in the centre.
The hotel is just off the N1 freeway in Samrand, the reception was a bit slow when we checked in on a Friday night. The room we got was carpeted and it only had a shower no bath. They clean and change the sheets everyday. They only put 1 bath and 1 hands towel, if you want more you have to request. The plus to this hotel is that its cheaper than most Protea hotels. Their food are nice, we had their breakfast and dinner. Something to note they have a church service in their conference room on Sundays, so you'll probably have breakfast with the church :)
This is a small business hotel tucked away in the relatively new business district of Samrand, just off the N1 highway between Johannesburg and Pretoria, convenient for access to Midrand and Centurion. The small conference room and adjacent restaurant can accommodate groups of up to 20, depending on the layout. Food and other refreshments are excellent, service is friendly but a little slow if they are busy.
Samrand Protea is one of my favourite Protea Hotels because it is cheaper than most other Protea Hotels without sacrificing quality and good service. I like the big rooms and safe parking. What I do not like is that sometimes you get very noisy guests. On my last stay 2 guest were talking very loud outside in front of my door at 3 am in the morning. I requested them politely to please quiet down and although they apologise for their noisy behaviour they continue with their loud conversation and then one of them got in his car and start revving the car which probably woke up all the guests. My gripe is that the hotel security did not intervene.
Accommodation is clean and spacious, well appointed rooms at a reasonable rate. Nice working area in the room, restaurant on location is also very good, supper to order from a comprehensive menu. Buffet breakfast is excellent. Overall service was more than excellent, staff are very helpful and concerned. they also have a conference room which has a nice outside area.
We recently stayed at this neat hotel which is about midway between Johannesburg and Pretoria. It is not "right next to a big mall" - but this is a sort of attraction. It is a quiet hotel very convenient to the N1 freeway which takes you quickly to wherever you may need to be. The hotel is very well maintained and I found everything worked as would be expected. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and neatly turned out. The rooms are clean, well prepared and are really large and well equipped with TV, air-conditioner, hair dryer, safe, two single seater lounge chairs, a large and very comfortable bed with amazingly comfortable pillows. We had a small bar fridge in our room but not all rooms have this facility (perhaps ask if you really need one). The was a decent sized en suite with a large walk in shower and ample towels that were of the right texture and smelled fresh. There is plenty of secure parking right outside the rooms and the premises are fully fenced with a 24 hour manned access boom gate. The hotel does have a jungle gym for the kids to play on and there is also a swimming pool. Two commendable things that I noticed and for which Protea / Marriot must be congratulated. Rain water is being harvested which I feel all hotels should be doing (even if it is only for the swimming pool and garden). The second item is that the only sweetener used is asparteme free! Nice touches.
Nice cosy hotel nestled in Midrand next to the highway. I was preparing for a speaking engagement in Centurion and Braamfontein on Sunday morning. I had time and space to prepare privately for my speaking. I was particularly impressed with the courtesy at reception, the patience and commitment of staff in explaining the changes in the hotel. I would definitely come back, more especially on a business transit.
Situated almost midway between Pretoria and Joberg this was an impressive hotel with extremely efficient and friendly staff. I was away before breakfast most days so availed of the breakfast pack which was very Comprehensive and well priced. The restaurant serves a good range of meals and while I don't recommend the vegetarian platter I would very much recommend the veggie curry especially as it's a mere 70 rand! Wilma was extremely helpful to all requests and I would heartily recommend this lovely hotel to anyone staying in the area. Spotless rooms and spacious bathrooms.
I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room and shower. There was also 100 MB free wifi. I liked the 2 bed set-up and the decor with pictures hung on the wall above the beds. I had an issue though with the air-conditioning unit which just could not get my room warm even after the house-keep promised me to wait just 15 mins or so for it to attain the 30 degrees I asked her to set it for.
