The place is horrible, cant say more. The pictures are wrong, it is dirty, small and they ask money extra for everything...look also at the other opinions and just take another operator...the islands should have been a wonderfull exeprience but lizamar tour made it a nightmare, what a pity for our last day in columbia.
totally recommended !!! a magical place full of Nature, the waters are crystal clear and you can see the fish of the sea, the hotel is spectacular, they have very good food, good service, internal pool, good prices !!!!
We booked a tour to isla bela for 165,000 CO. They hope you into a boat despite you repeatedly ask if this is the right boat, ours was "la patrona de Liz". Theh made us wait for over 30 minutes under the burning sun! Waiting for more people to fill the boat. It was only after we depart when the captain explains the route that we realized we were not going to islabella. They drop us at this hotel which is not bad but it feels quite cheap. The facilities are poor, the swimming area is very small and right next to where the boats dock The tour included a stop at cholon islan, which is nice to see all the yacht and boats with loads of people partying. On our way back to Cartagena the boat a going to leave us in another dock very far from the original depart, we had to complain for them to take us to la bodeguita. The reason I post this review here is because all the boats and staff had labels "operated by isla lizamar tours" so I'm guesing they own the boats and use them to bring us there. The hole rosario island area is beautiful! I just wish the people organizing this tours where more organized and people took care of the cleaningless of the area. Bad experience overall with this hotel and tour, please be sure to be clear of your destination!!
We didn't stay here, but booked some tours in the area through one of their guides named Danner. We booked some tours and some transfers with Danner and it was nothing like he promised. Once he has your money, it's game over. Booked a offshore fishing experience and they showed us photos of a center console 2-engine boat with fishing poles and padded seats, but what we got that morning was a local fishermans skiff with hand lines and bolts as fishing weights. No padded seats, no offshore fishing. We also booked transfers in a private car and they didn't even have the $$ to pay the tolls. And on our return, instead of a private car, we got a bus with 12 other tourists.
Worst experience in Colombia. Why offering a pick up and pick off service to the island ??? We had 30min late at departure, they ask us to be at 1.20 pm for the return, finally we left the island at 3pm, they only wanted us to consume at their horrible place without any beach during this time, we were supposed to go back to Cartagena at 4.30pm but they drop us to another beach (not that bad), came back at 17.20pm... Overpriced!
We paid extra to go on the fancier boats that visited more islands. Our group boarded the "Pollo Isra" boat and our captain was called "Chocolate". It was truly the most horrifying experience on the water ever. He was driving extremely fast on very choppy water. The boat was hitting the water so hard and fast everyone was screaming in pain and fear. Even after girls in the boat started crying in pain our captain would not slow down. The fist resort was small and it didn't really have a beach, food was ok, staff was friendly. Second resort tried to charge us almost 50 dollars per beverage, and a mountain of other "random" charges that we had to fight off. Back on the boat to Cartagena for another excruciating 40 minutes of pain. When we got back to dock, the captain and crew started asking for tips and more money. Finally we had to report the whole incidence to the police. We were in so much pain for the rest of our trip in Cartagena. I which we had read some of these reviews before boarding the boat from hell. I cannot imagine families with small children or elderly people taking this tour.
This is not a resort, and in no way is it fancy or nice. The beach in man made and small. The place is dirty and smelly. The food is typical and ok. The staff are for the most part not very friendly here. However, the worst part of all was the boat ride back to Cartagena. We were in the boat "La Negra Eliza". It was obvious that the boat captain was not very concerned about the passengers' safety. As soon as we left Cartagena, he took full speed on the open ocean. Everyone was bouncing around and children began to cry. After the children started crying, he took the speed down a little bit. However, on the way back to Cartagena, he took the open ocean route. The ocean was very very rough and our boat was small. The captain was going full speed against the waves. Everyone was bouncing around, very high. The boat was even catching air and slamming down on the water. Everyone was soaking wet. Water was just hitting everyone hard. I wasn't even able to open my eyes due to the amount of salt water slapping my face constantly. Imagine being on a small boat in the middle of a very rough ocean, bouncing around, holding on very tight, and having water constantly slap your face. People were screaming and crying, and were genuinely concerned for their safety. When this was expressed to the captain, all he said was "hold on tight". The day before we also visited the islands with a different company. The other company took a different route on the way back because they said it was unsafe to go trough the ocean. They took us down a calm and beautiful river. The ride did take about 20 minutes longer, but the scenery and ride was worth the extra time. I saw several other boats also taking that route. I am sure the captain of this boat has to know about this route, and I can't think of one good reason why not to go trough there. I would recommend for you to use your time and money wisely and go with a different company. There are a better alternatives!
We took the boat to go there for a day. They told us totally different things. There is no white beach!!! And we stucked in this resort. After one hour waiting for the boat, we thought its not coming anymore... They took us to a smaller island which was totaly dirty and messy, everywhere was poop and it was very stinky. They asked us a hundred times if we wanna drink something but in this dirt we just wanted to leave. In the end our boat run out of gasoline so we were in the middle of nowhere didnt know whats going on and waited for another boat. I hope u guys read this before you book it!! Never ever again!!!
We stayed here for a number of days. Food was decent, but accommodations are in poor condition and we left with BED BUG bites all over us. They have tours come in every day so a large group of people comes for a couple of hours. There are better options!
We were on a family vacation with our almost 2 year old son, and we were transported from “El Muelle” to this hotel and one other island for a whole day in what they called...Islas Rosario. We were transported in a boat that was not safe. It was a nightmare being in the boat on our way back from the islas rosario. The boat was going incredibly fast, we got socked, everyone in the boat was screaming of terror. As we were returning, the “captain” comes up with the story that one of the motors was not working properly and left our entired group of 25+ people stranded in playa Barú. We had to take a taxi back to our hotel because we did not want to wait to go back on those scary boats.... Please, never take your kids to these islands. It is extremely dangerous. Do not waste time and money going on these tours.
