Staff:The front desk kid at night was super sweet and helpful. Amenities: We had a private room with a private bathroom and air conditioning. It was clean enough butt I've stayed at way better in Colombia for 75000 cop a night. The shower just has a spout that shoots water in a waterfall. The bathroom is super small, so water can get all over the floor if you're not careful. The beds are comfortable enough but the bed sheets and pillows looked a little gross. They have a cute balcony and little lounge area upstairs where the wifi signal is really strong.
I stayed for 4 nights and it was great. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and air con. rooms, kitchen with basic stuff and close to the old part of the town. Just 2 small bathrooms but still ok. I would definitely recommend this hostel!
Extremely pleasant hostel, prices were on point, air conditioned rooms (absolutely essential in Cartagena by the way). Spacious rooms with nice bathrooms. Only downside to the hostel however is its location. Situated right next to the full moon hostel (THE party hostel in Cartagena) it gets quite noisy at night. Its a huge shame because this hostel was a really nice find.
This hostel is in the middle of a busy street where a lot of people like to go out, right in between a lot of hostels which are a lot more pricy. The owner is very helpful and friendly and so is the rest of the staff. The kitchen was basic, but they have a very economical laundry service.
Stayed in a party hostel that was too noisy and expensive. Changed hostel by chance and i liked it. Its small and safe. The owner is a nice person who helps u where he can. I liked it as i stayed with family. Its very clean and the laundry service is cheaper than outside.
Young front desk guy was rude and uninviting on check in. We asked for a four person room, he told us it would be 100,000 pesos each. The manager/owner arrived during our negotiation and told us the actual price of the room was 30,000 pesos each, and that his employee must have been confused (yeah, right). The room and bathroom was dirty and the AC put out a moldy odor. Wifi did not work when we arrived, after a few hours I fixed it myself with the receptionist's permission. The next day the owner did not even say thank you for doing his job for him.
We stayed there for three nights and came back two nights. We really liked this place. Its clean, they have a kitchen for the guests, a public computer, laundryservice and a nice social area. It is not a party hostal like the one next to them like media luna or mamallena, but during the night you hear the noise from those hostals. Unfortunately the wifi did not work in our six dorm but in all the other places its allright. The riom we stayed had a a.c. The staff is extremly friendly and helpful as well the night guard who helped us to find a taxi at 4.30 pm. You wont regret it when u go there!
The manager was very polite, however, the staff stoled our money. We went on an tour and when we got back our room was clean along with our money. The manager, who is also the owner, was kind enough to give us back our stolen money, nonetheless, I felt unsafe the two days we had left in our stay. We stopped eating the free breakfast because I was afraid the staff would spit on it or do who knows what. My husband wanted us to stay with the locals so he choose this hotel. If it was up to me, we would have stayed in the hotel zone. The proximity to the ciudad murallada was perfect. I would not want to stay there with my kids. I almost forgot, if you do stay here, do not get the room with the balcony unless you want to stay up all night listening to blasting music. It actually gets very loud in all the rooms. Great for those who will just use the room to crash after a night of partying.
We were disappointed at every stage of our stay at Hotel Luna Nueva.Upon arriving our room was not ready, when we saw our room it looked NOTHING like the picture posted on their site. The room was small ,electric wires dangling from numerous sites. At 10 PM on our third night an extremely loud rock and roll band next door played non- stop from 10 PM until 2 AM. At night the only exit from the hotel is locked with a padlock until the next morning. Staff was indifferent, breakfast was a voucher for a restaurant down the street from the hotel.I would NOT recommend this hotel.
I made a reservation for this place via expedia. When I arrived I was told that there must be an issue at the expedia side of things as they didn't have my reservation. Obviously I can't comment on where the issue in the end to reservation process (ie whether with expedia or with the hotel). This is the 1st time though I've been told that there's such an issue when making a booking with Expedia so at the mo I wonder if the issue was with the hotel? Nueva Luna seems to be quite an enterprise that they have though. Right next door to Nueva Luna Hostal is Nueva Luna Hostel. I was told that the hotel was full. The guy who appeared to the manager owner told me that he had another place immediately round the corner and that I could stay there instead. While I was waiting for them to come up with an answer in Nueva Luna, I had a quick look in the bedroom nearest the reception desk. I was surprised to see that for a hostal, the 1st thing inside was a bunk bed. There was a constant coming and going of backpackers. I couldn't help wonder if this place would have been better labelled as a hostel and not a hostal. At the place I was taken to round the corner had no dorms and from what I can gather no bunk beds. I was taken to a room on the 2nd floor. I specifically asked if the wifi worked in this bedroom and was told 'yes'. After the manager guy disappeared and I got settled in, I tried the wifi and it most certainly didn't work. The signal strength from the router at reception wasn't strong enough due to the distance. I asked another person involved in the running of the place when I was there if the wifi worked on the 2nd floor. I was told 'no'. Thus the comment from the guy before about the wifi working in this room seems to have been nonsense. Hence why I am rating this place with the score I am awarding it.
