Room 10 was tiny, I've been in bigger closets! A typical cruise ship room is substantially bigger. The bathroom was nice but there was no door to it, not my thing. Now the TV. There were over 1,000 channels. 900 were either grayed out or when you clicked on them Dish network wanted you to "upgrade" to get that. What you could get was about 70 Infomercial channels, 15 sports channels, 8 kids channels, and the rest music video channels. And on top of that the TV was on the wall over the coffee maker and made it almost impossible to make a cup of coffee in the broken down Keurig.
Although I was solo, my room number 7 was fabulous. Large, well appointed, water bottles, kureg coffee maker, gorgeous finishes, bathroom is oooooooo haven't tried the chromatherapy tub yet...tonight!!! Quiet w windows closed. The casino is a brisk 3 minute walk next door. Check in is inside the casino. Leave your luggage in the car if you drove. If you did not come for music do yourself a favour and go see whatever bands they have booked. Buy tickets if necessary, ask when you check in, or research before you go. Reddog productions books some fantastic bands!!! Crown room has free shows and last night's band was off the hook and ironically from SF where I'm from. Hadn't heard of them but will be going to see them live now for sure. Border House is perfect and small only a few rooms. So book fast if you are going fir music!!! Also I flew to Reno airport and took the Northlake shuttle 50 ea way. If you've more than one, hire a towncar or private ride. Biltmore while a rundown in need of love casino is right across the street. Nortlake shuttle stop is Biltmore.
Somehow found a rate of $150/night last April 2016. I'm remembering it now because I'm to find a place for next week (Ski Week) and the rate is double that! We stayed in Deluxe Suite #7. The queen beds were comfy, the fireplace was warm, and the chromatherapy tub was ... weird. We definitely appreciated the wireless Internet and the bathrobes. All in all a very posh change from our usual cheap North Lake crashpad, the Tahoe Biltmore. Just wish you'd offer some great deals again... maybe in the Spring?
I booked a room here for a one night stay on Wednesday, November 9th. The room was comfortable and attractive but I had one problem. At approximately 2:16 a.m., the security system malfunctioned and began beeping. I called the front desk and they had someone come and fix it which took around 10 minutes but it definitely ruined my overall experience.
We really loved our room. The king size bed was very comfortable. It was nice to have a fireplace for the cooler nights. The bathroom was very large with plush towels, large soaker tub, walk-in shower and 2 sinks. There was also a mini fridge and a keurig machine for coffee/tea. We loved that the hotel is a separate building from the casino. You do need to check-in & out at the casino though. We would definitely stay here again.
We had the double room with the balcony. Huge room. Very nice toiletries and amenities in the room. Fabulous tub! Downside - no door for the toilet/bathroom though there is a heavy curtain to separate and a fan to turn on to camouflage noise. Couldn't really have two using the space if one was taking care of business, unless you're really comfortable with each other or don't care. Not sure if other rooms are the same. Windows right look out to (and in from) the street for this room. Recommend a room on the second floor. And closing curtains while dressing or showering. Casino has a great steakhouse but make reservations ahead as there is limited seating.
Came up for a concert and was not disapointed.... Bill Wood and staff are great folks. Don't expect any spa or pool amenities, just private top end rooms. Great spa down the street at the Hyatt. Will definetly visit again!
Good thing first: I made a mistake in booking the hotel and the hotel management was really really kind in helping. I was truly grateful for the help of the staff named Stefanie. Majority of my good reviews are for her. When we just checked in, everything was nice too. Great room, nice and big tub, the furniture was classy and I loved the room so much. It was indeed the one of best few rooms I stayed in my entire travel experiences. It definitely does not lose to 5 star boutique hotels. Then we left for some activities and came back after dinner. That's where the nightmare started. At first it was the air conditioning. It was somehow not working and the only answer given was " the condenser was frozen and it takes an hour or so". I was pretty pissed at that - come on, I paid for the air conditioning. An hour is not good enough! But it was not so bad as Tahoe was cool at night so we tolerated with the ceiling fan although the air conditioning did not come back at all even after midnight. Then it was the tub. The Jacuzzi went off itself out of no where in the middle of the night like for few times. we called the reception and seems that the only people who was managing the hotel at night were those from the cage of the casino. Yes they sent someone here, push a few buttons and told us if it went off again, they will see what they can do.. It was 2am in the morning and we went through this a few times before they switched the room for us. That was where I was angry. You did have an empty room and it was 2am in the morning. You were not sure whether the problem could be fixed. Wasn't that the first alternative you should have offered us instead of "let's see whether it happens again"? In the end, in the middle of the night after woken up by the horrifying Jacuzzi sound a few times, we emergency pack up everything and shifted to the other room down the hall and had to amend our plans the next day as it was a long drive to Yosemite. So yah, love/hate.
There was nothing in the confirmation e-mail saying that you had to check in at the casino next door. We wandered around for ages before someone at the bar directed us. The room has quirky design, a gas fire (untried as it was summer) a good bathroom with two wash hand basins but not all rooms have spa baths. Lighting was subdued and a reading light next to the bed and a light for the desk would be helpful. There was no refrigerator or coffee maker in our room so check according to your needs. It was clean, the water hot and the wifi very fast. There was a radio with iPod dick. Breakfast is in the casino, their restaurant across the street provides meals and the bar next door does 40 beers and sandwiches.
We stayed one night in the Border House at Crystal Bay and we really enjoyed ourselves. The room was very nice and kind of quirky decorated, but that just made it more fun and interesting. The bathroom was beyond elegant and had some very nice touches. The hotel is not attached to the casino, so that was a bit weird, but we enjoyed our stay all the same.
