After reading the positive reviews, we decided to reserve a room here. The staff were helpful, but struggled to get us an acceptable room. The first room did not have a full fridge, which we reserved as we were traveling and needed to put things in a freezer. We were moved to a second room with a full fridge, but it was not clean. We were moved a third time. The room basically looked fine, bedding and towels were clean, but the corners of the room, door jams etc need a deep clean. Breakfast was fine. The grounds also needed a lot of work. They were littered with cigarette butts, q-tips, candy wrappers etc…I personally would not choose to stay here again.

I have stayed at this EconoLodge in the past and it was OK then. They have done a lot of remodeling recently and it Very nice for an inexpensive palce to stay in Carlsbad. Carlsbad is seeing an oil boom now so it about as costly to stay there and it is in Austin.
