Jolyons at No. 10

We visited Cardiff on the 4th and 5th January 2018 for a short stay and booked Jolyons as it was in an ideal position and at a decent price. The hotel is a perfect place for the town centre, just a 5 min walk away close to local bars and restaurants. Though ideal for the town centre its quite a long walk to the Bay area so we used a taxi to get to the theatre. Might be a good walk in the summer but not in the winter !. Check in was easy and and the car park even though tight was a nice bonus, not sure where you would park though if all the spaces were full. Room we had (205) was clean and tidy with a great bath, only problem was that the room was to hot !!!. unable to turn the radiator down we informed reception who gladly without any fuss moved us to (208) which was also very clean and a lot bigger and cooler. We had a few drinks in the bar area which was very comfortable and relaxed. The staff were very helpful and helped us out with local information. We decided not to go with breakfast as we wanted to eat in the Bay area so cannot comment on the food standards. Over all we were very pleased with our choice of hotel, friendly staff, great position for the town area and very clean and tidy which is a must for us. I would definitely stay here again and would and have already recommended it to friends.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is situated at the City end of the road with a very short walk over the River Taff into Cardiff City Centre. There is a small car park on site, but you need to book a space early to avoid disappointment. The front of the hotel is a period building with an more modern extension at the rear. The reception staff are very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the more modern part on the third floor and the room was comfortable, quiet and well maintained. The bed was comfortable. We had breakfast included which offered a reasonable selection. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be close to the Centre of Cardiff and we intend to stay here again when we next visit in July.

What a fabulous city centre venue for a party! Newly refurbished, lovely room beautifully set out. The food was excellent, high quality fine dining with great options and good value. The staff could not do enough, great space for dancing and prompt bar service. It exceeded our expectations in every way!

We visited jolyons to celebrate my mothers 70th birthday in December. The food was excellent, the staff were more than helpful and the service was great. We were a party of 20 and all of the meals came out in a timely manner. The only criticism I have is that we were sat right next to the door to the outside smoking area where people were in and out and the smell of cigarette smoke was really quite off putting. All in all a good dining experience and a lovely place in a good location.

My husband and I were in Cardiff Bay on a day trip from Wales. We were having a lovely time until we realized we were out of currency and were unable to exchange our US dollars (long story but nevertheless frustrating) . We searched high and low and no luck. Just by chance we stopped in the Jolyon's at No 10 as hotels often had a currency exchange. They did not. But in talking to Joanna, who was busy changing linens and making up a room, she gave us currency out of her own pocket so we could catch the train back home. What an angel she was!!

Booked to celebrate my dads 80th birthday. Welcoming staff who were very attentive and keen to get things right. Delicious food with menus to suit all. My parents also booked a room to stay overnight which was beautifully decorated merging the old with the new. Highly recommend should you want to visit Cardiff.

Went here for wife's birthday. Lovely place. Room clean and comfortable. Staff brilliant. Asked for recommendations for food and the place recommended was lovely. Also nice touch, birthday card from the team at jolyons in the room. All staff, polite, knowledgeable about local area and accessible. Breakfast was nice although slightly overpriced, but full of flavour. Would highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

Jolyons at No 10 is ideally situated for Cardiff city centre - at the city end of Cathedral Road. First impressions were very favourable, with a large foyer and people enjoying a quiet drink on a warm autumn afternoon on the outside terrrace - the cwtsh! We had to wait a long time to be checked in - this was repeated when we were trying to check out next morning. The receptionist was busy doing other things, but she was very pleasant and insisted on carrying our (heavy) case up to our room. We were also upgraded to a larger room - on the corner overlooking Sophia Gardens with two large windows. The television was very small - on a very large wall! - unusual these days. Breakfast was fine - but, when I asked for a cappuccino coffee, I was told that would be £2.75 extra! I have never come across this before! I had booked a car parking space beforehand, but one needs to be a skilful driver to manouevre in and out of a very confined space! One recommendation - La Cuina is a great Catalan restaurant a five minutes walk away.

There's nothing 'boutique' about this hotel. There's nothing particularly wrong with it either - we had a perfectly OK stay - but it's just an overpriced modern hotel and doesn't have any of the features that you might expect from a boutique hotel - and certainly not enough to justify the eye-watering prices. + Location is good, just a few minutes to the castle/cathedral/stadium and Cardiff centre. - Although our first experience was at about 6pm on a Friday with a bunch of drunks falling down the street being noisy and vomiting. +/- There is parking, but it was full and would have been a nightmare to use. There is parking behind the hotel that we didn't have to pay for, but it was a bit of a trek to then go all the way around the block back to the entrance. + Entrance/foyer/bar area is nice enough - But got very noisy with obnoxious music and lots of people who at least seemed to be non-guests + Room was OK and the bed was comfy (even if it was just two singles pushed together) - It was ridiculously hot all night and the windows didn't open enough, and the A/C was not functional; bathroom extractor fan never switched off + Breakfast was good - Seemed under-staffed on a very busy morning so there was a lot of waiting around for food/drinks and a lot of used plates etc that needed clearing + The receptionist was very friendly and helpful - Bar staff were moody! Overall it's fine as a modern hotel. But it's not 'boutique' and it's really expensive for what it is. Won't stay there again.

We so enjoyed our stay at Jolyons. Fabulous room, friendly helpful staff, a barmaid who actually knew all about the beer she was selling! 10 minute walk to Cardiff Town centre made this a superb location. Really comfy bed. We will definitely return to this hotel.
