I stayed at the Pestana Hotel for two nights in March 2016. I was in Room 1401, which was a corner room, with a nice 180 degree view, including buildings and the nearby hills covered with very photographic fog. The room had a queen bed, armchair, desk and TV, as well as useful items such as luggage rack, coffee maker, minibar, fridge, safe, iron and ironing board. The bathroom had a bath, shower, hairdryer, and makeup mirror. The shower had a strong water flow. The power sockets in the room take US plugs and three-point plugs. There was a power cut when I was there, with no electricity from the grid from 9am-6pm, but one elevator was working powered by a generator, I could still open the room door, and the toilet still flushed. The main reason I chose this hotel was because of the view from the rooftop bar. I was not disappointed. As I didn’t want to go out in Caracas in the evenings, I stayed at the hotel and watched night fall from the rooftop bar. There is also a restaurant downstairs, which I will review separately. The hotel is not particularly close to tourist sights, but this didn’t matter, because I went room by car instead of walking, because of the security situation. Caracas is a city that is suffering; that is obvious. Yet the Pestana Hotel feels like a normal hotel, and the staff do their best to compensate for things beyond their control, such as the power cuts. I’m glad I chose it and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice midrange hotel in Caracas.
We spent only one night. Hotel was nice and clean and many many helpful staff members to serve us. On the 18th floor there was pool area with service. The 19th floor was VIP area. The view to surrounding city and the mountain beside was just amazing. We did not have much time and so we only had a walk nearby. Safe during daylight.
We had all kind of problems with the hotel management . We paid in advance one night stay ( we planned 12 days) When we wrote management that we needed a car at the airport to pick us up , we read upon arrival that the hotel could not send a car because they did not have a credit card to charge the trip to . Bad if you know how Venezuela "treats "visitors at the airport. It is a dangerous place indeed . The rooms were OK at best , towels were old , shower leaks all over the room and room service slow . The elevators worked at will . The party on dec 31 almost destroys the pool area . But what makes me write is that the local calls were charged to the room at a rate that is simply unimaginable . I spoke for 24 minutes , local , and we were charged BsF 64,000 . Just to give you an idea , the room was Bs 130,000 . I do not recommend this hotel, although perhaps with a better management , it could be a nice place to stay. Dawson Sargo Front Office Supervisor might be a good internal manager but he is certainly not prepared to take care of the public .
Even though services in Caracas are decreasing in quality day by day due to the obvious economic reasons Venezuela is facing, the hotel stays very well and the facilities are well preserved. Prices are OK and food taste is also very ok. Recommended 8f you are looking for a beautiful and romantic view or just to scape from your ordinary weekend in Caracas :)
The hotel has very clean comfortable and spacious rooms, awesome breakfast and a gorgeous view of Caracas from its rooftop (which also has an oudoor pool). The hotel suffers nonetheless from TERRIBLE room service: slow and sometimes they even forget the orders themselves !
a great pool view, even if you don't stay you can go for a drink after 6 pm and have a great view of the city of caracas the area is safe, very close to parque del este in order to walk there is pharmacy 1 block away and a supermarket across the street the sales department are very friendly
Very nice hotels with excellent views from the top floors. Great staff and service and rooms are modern and nice. You can feel though the economic impact of the country in little things in the hotel. The top floor pool is very nice.
I stayed here for four nights and felt it was a pretty good hotel. It looks good; the room was a decent size, very comfortable bed, decent shower and toilet (albeit very thin toilet paper, reflecting Venezuela's economic crisis); good free wifi; excellent views, especially from the roof terrace and a good varied breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel felt secure, though there is no overt security. My one small quibble, given the quality of Caracas tap water, is that bottled water was not provided routinely, but was provided in the mini bar.
It's great for business trips. Nice rooftop bar with a pool overviewing the skyline of Caracas and the magnificent Avila Mountain. It's very near the banks, offices and the best neighbourhood from La Castellana, Altamira and los palos grandes. If your business is there. It's the best way to go for business. The special areas surrounding the hotel are nice. The convention center is perfect for a meeting up to 600 people to say the Least. Service is magnificent.
It's hard to review a hotel functioning in the middle of a huge economic and political crisis, difficult to know what issues are beyond the hotel... The positives are that the hotel is clean, rooms quite large, hot water and electricity always worked when I was there, the room staff were very nice, laundry service good, etc. The breakfast was very good with a choice of local breakfasts (beans and carne mechada with arepas) and fresh-cooked omelette, lots of fresh fruit. On the downside, the room was missing normal things like it had a coffee maker but no coffee, no pen (even the reception had trouble finding a pen!), and the staff in the bar on the roof were bizarrely unhelpful; refused to charge a drink to the room and refused to accept international credit card (almost impossible to pay in bolivars unless you have a sack with you to carry it around). Eventually they took dollars at a very bad rate... Pestana is an international chain but I had a strong feeling of state involvement ...
