Perfect location for Captiva. Easy walk to the beach with private access. Nice pool area in the sun. House could use a few updates but is a great value.
The house was beautiful and the photos provided on the website were extremely accurate. The host was very responsive in answering questions and problems along the way..
Great location close to the beach and beautiful pool and restaurants. House has everything we needed. Had one issue which the property manager fixed right away. Will definitely stay here again
Wonderful location in Captiva! Walkable to beach, restaurants and pool. A few minor maintenance issues addressed quickly. Clean, comfortable and easy place to stay with a 4 and 6 year old!
The location of this home is great! It is a quick walk to Andy Rosse and having docks available for fishing and Manatee watching was a major plus. The house itself is in some need of updating, but nothing major. I would definitely rent it again.
You can't beat the location and setting of John Anthony's beach cottage. Very close to both beach and bay, and located within a lovely, private community. House could use some upgrades and bit more maintenance. Yet make no mistake: this is a fantastic place and we had a lovely time. Thanks, John Anthony!
We had a great stay in Captiva over spring break. This home is located in Sunset Captiva, a small neighborhood with a well-maintained community pool, newly refinished tennis and pickelball courts, newer gas grills, and an easy, short walk to the beach. The beach is beautiful. I would note that the home itself is dated and there is some deferred maintenance. However, it was clean and the host was helpful and responsive.
The property is in a great location for walking to everything. The property is in need of some minor maintenance. It’s obviously not being checked before the next rental. Drains partially clogged and many lights that don’t work but we still enjoyed our stay. The second bedroom should have a queen bed as well as the bunk bed instead of the twin. The main floor and deck is nice. The kitchen is also fine. The manager communicated with us but never accomplished anything while we were there. Probably better for a family with kids than four adults. Overall we enjoyed the time.
This was our first time staying in Captiva after vacationing in Sanibel for the past 10 years, and we’re so glad we made the switch. Our group included five adults and a five-month-old, and the space fit us perfectly. We’re not fancy people, so the fact that the unit wasn’t updated (as mentioned in other reviews) did not bother us at all. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable, and everything we needed for a relaxing stay was provided. The property itself was fantastic. We played pickleball every day, and the pool was warm, clean, and well maintained, with plenty of seating for lounging. Jensen’s is directly across the street—perfect for sunrise views and even spotting manatees. The beach is an easy five-minute walk, where we enjoyed gorgeous sunsets and took beautiful family photos. The location is ideal with so much within walking distance—restaurants, ice cream, coffee at the Bubble Room, and Starbucks just an eight-minute walk away. South Seas is also starting a day-pass option for their pools and water slides, which we look forward to checking out on our next visit. The unit included four beach chairs, an umbrella, and two camping chairs. A wagon would have been helpful for transporting items to the beach, but it was manageable. We also took a sunset cruise from McCarthy Marina, only a five-minute walk away, and it was absolutely picture-perfect.We can’t wait to return and would happily stay here again.

Good house in a great neighborhood
This was our first time staying outside of the South Seas Resort on Captiva Island. We found the Captiva Sunset neighborhood to be perfect in every way. Walk to everything, restaurants, library, Island Shop for groceries, bike rentals, Chapel By The Sea and more. The neighborhood is very quiet, and yet at night you can hear the soft sounds of music from the restaurants nearby. The community pool l is one of the nicest I have ever seen with more than adequate chairs and a large swimming area. Located on a lovely stretch of beach with lots of shelling and beautiful sunsets. When we arrived at the house there were a few maintenance items that needed taking care of. Property Manager, April Shook, was reachable and immediately took care of everything. She went above and beyond with all of my requests. House is roomy with two and a half baths. This property could use just a little TLC but that is reflected in the great rental rate. Enjoy.

Clean and fairly well maintained property
We have stayed 5 different times in Sunset Captiva, in 4 different houses. The Sunset Captiva neighborhood is fabulous - we love the location, the amenities, the easy access to the Gulf Beach and Pine Island Sound, the pool and the meticulous maintenance of the grounds. This house, for us, is in a less desirable location within the community as it backs up to the main road and you can hear traffic noise even with the windows closed. On the plus side, you have very easy access to the road and to the shops and restaurants of Captiva - the downside is others use the same 'shortcut' to the road and so their is less privacy due to the foot traffic going by the porch. The biggest downside is that the porch is not screened in, and almost every other house in Sunset Captiva has a screened porch that we missed having. Everything was clean and in good working order, however, and the property manager was very helpful while booking and when we needed assistance with the wifi. The wifi was a bit sporadic and we could not always connect to it - since it was vacation, it wasn't urgent and didn't bother us much. The basics are provided in the home, but fewer amenities than other places we've stayed - for example, other homes have provided a radio, books, DVDs, more beach towels, beach chairs, wagons, pool and beach toys - and this one didn't. Overall, we will likely look for a different location in the same community for next time, but would book this again if we couldn't find a different house.

Very nice and close to the beach
THe condo was very nice and clean. The kitchen had everything you would need for a vacation cooking. The walk to the beach is very short and there is small store on the island that is convinient as well (very short walk to there too). Overall, it was very nice vacation and kids loved it. The beach is awesome and the pool was nice too. Will go back again!

AVOID THIS RENTAL
Mold has over taken the rear deck and stairs. The patio furniture has become infused with white and black mold. The mold has also started growing up the side of the house and the cushions on the furniture are also mold ridden. Mold is also growing in the cabinets in the kitchen. The washer and dryer are 1980 models and sometimes work and sometimes do not. There is some kind of green slime growing on the stairs going in to the main door shown in the picture and the picture of the rear deck is no resemblance of the actually deck.
Best of all when you call and ask for someone to come clean up they will kindly agree to send someone right over, but do not be fooled they are not coming, we got your money what are you going to do about it,. So when you take your money back the Attorney who owns the property sues you because you did not like the fact that the total deterition and the mold issue were not disclosed. Again I am a lawyer I got your money what are you gona do about it.
