The space was just ok. Old fixtures carpet dirty needs to be replaced with flooring you can clean old outdated furniture. Nice quiet area. Great breakfast. Would I return here? No. Would Irecommend it? No. It was just ok. Not worth the price I paid 1000 rand per night. Worth600–700 rand at most
Our 11th stay at Dunkleyhouse and still enjoyable. It's so easy to get to Dunkleyhouse from the airport....20 minutes drive. Our flight from the Uk arrives in early and when we arrive at Dunkleyhouse the staff are eager to get our room ready and make us wonderfully comfortable long before it's check in time. KC and the rest of the staff make us feel so welcome, and throughout our stay can't do enough for us. KC books all our restaurants and taxis if we need them. Our room, The Aqua does need upgrading but it's always clean and the bed is very comfortable. We like this room because of it's open aspect on to the terrace and there's plenty of sky to be seen. It's location is perfect ....walk to many restaurants on long street and kloof street areas. ( always taxi back) We shall return next year.
Stayed here for two nights. Our room was comfortable. Only problem is that it was just next to the breakfastroom. So as from 0800hr it was very noise.breakfast itself was ok. Staff was very friendly...
We have visited Dunkley House many times over the years and always found the staff friendly and helpful. The style and quality of the rooms is excellent, but they are getting tired and in need of a more in-depth refurbishment. What was also disappointing is the standard of the breakfasts has really fallen - the coffee was bitter every morning and the buffet and hot options lacked the flair and quality of before. Breakfasts used to be a highlight. It’s a great location, nice ambiance and could recover its former glory with a bit of proper tlc.
The space has a great frame, big spacious rooms - but the rooms are worn down and need refurbishing or better maintenance. The cleaning of rooms needs to be stepped up too, with the shower not having been cleaned for the duration of my stay. The pool needs to be cleaned. All a little broken and unkempt, the buzzer at the gate is broken too. They did serve a great breakfast though and had stable wifi.
Location is pretty nice, walkable but little far away from Longstreet area. Kloofstreet area is pretty close and there is plenty of nice restaurants. Otherwise hotel was great – room was clean and spacious.
Pleasant swim during our summer stay and started the day with a great breakfast served. Rooms, including the bath, was spacious. Staff were kind and accommodating. Great for a couples weekend retreat.
My husband and I spent a night at Dunkley House. We found it to be very clean and neat. Staff were very pleasant. Rooms were amazing and the entire setup was just absolutely perfect. The layout and style of the bedroom and on suite with the little garden was breathtaking. I highly recommend a stay at Dunkley House
We have stayed at Dunkley House four times in the past the last time being three years ago, previously we were happy with all that was on offer and even made that known on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately our latest stay proved to be totally the opposite, the place is in need of a total makeover (a lick of paint would help) bath towels were worn and frayed and were not matched, sink and shower taps were difficult to operate. Staff and friends took over the swimming pool area drinking alcohol in late afternoon/early evening, leaving very little space for guests, breakfast was not up the standard we had come to expect. On return home I mailed the General Manager/Guest Relations and his response was to agree with the points I raised, he would deal with the staff, I requested that he should consider a refund as compensation,he never responded even after three mails. We will never go to Dunkley House again and not recommend it as we done in the past
Stunning breakfasts. Clean linen and great location. Right in the heart of Cape Town. We stayed in the old historical section while my son stayed in the modern section. Older section was well maintained and spotless. The ladies that work there were polite and helpful. KC was an exceptional host. Couldn't have asked for a better stay with great value for money!
