I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are lovely, the staff are fabulous, the location in central Canterbury is perfect and the breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had. And recently, the hotel were incredibly kind and generous when - following a medical emergency within my family - they allowed us to cancel 3 pre-paid rooms and gave us a full refund immediately - no delays or complexities. Thank you, Abode. It is the perfect place to stay over before jumping on Le Shuttle (why we use it).

Came here after refusing to stay at the air b&b we had booked. Checked in just before midnight and the staff were brilliant. Room was beautiful and clean with crisp white bedding and massive towels. Had the breakfast what i would thoroughly recommend. What i would like add to this review is that there is a young guy called Alfie who works the bar, what a credit to the hotel if he ever wanted a job in London, i would snap him up. Overall this hotel is worth its value in all aspects, service, cleanliness and location.

Don’t pay extra for breakfast. Worst I’ve had in a hotel ever, paid for two mornings but didn’t go their for the 2nd. Plenty of amazing choices on high street that are cheaper. Rooms aren’t great, cheap feel to them. More expensive prices do not mean bigger rooms, just one or two things added to small room

Stayed here last night - This is a nice hotel with neat, comfortable rooms but there were some let downs which was unfortunate as wanted to score them a lot higher. Firstly the hotel has run out of soap. It has been without soap the staff informed me for two days. This is a little worrying as how are guests inc staff expected to keep hygiene under control. Soap is not in the least bit expensive so I can’t believe how a 4 star hotel can go without it for 2 days . Secondly my rooms bathroom had not had fresh towels and the ones that were there at various hairs on them. I spoke to reception and whilst I was out they were promptly replaced. Thirdly something was wrong with the TV in the room and with result there was no sound on the BBC channels (1 and 2). All other channels had sound. Luckily I went thought the TV guide and was able to find the HD channels and they had sound. However if someone wasn’t as clued up about this kind of thing then they couldn’t have watched the channel. Fourthly the walls in my room I felt were quite thin and as a result I could hear most of the antics of my neighbours . Not ideal when trying to get some sleep.

Have stayed here a few times. Excellent location in the heart of Canterbury with good rooms. Good breakfast cooked to order. Seemed to be cutting back on the trimmings on last visit (toiletries, biscuits, attractive cocktails)

This hotel is not really value for money but the location is superb. One night parking on a building site costs 14 pounds and room rate of 200 pounds for the Saturday night is also expensive in my view

This hotel is located on High Street in Canterbury, only steps from the Cathedral and many shops and restaurants. Service is very friendly and efficient. Would recommend to others.Rooms were comfortable , breakfast very good and staff in bar/restaurant was good.

Excellent location, Parking is expensive, and should be included for overnight guests. Restaurant only offers 1 vegetarian dish, which was disappointing, so we had to eat outside of the hotel in town. The bar area was lovely, and the man playing the piano was a nice bonus. If you want Breakfast, and are willing to pay £15, speak to reception to find out what the best time is, to sit down, as we could not get in due to the queue in front of us, which in the end resulted in us going elsewhere.

The Abode is located in the very Centre of The City, which makes it exceptionally convenient for transport links and site seeing. Everything is within walking distance or a short taxi ride. A secure Car Park is also available on site which is also very useful. The Hotel is steeped in History and the rooms and facilities add a modern touch whilst maintaining the character of the building. The Staff are exceptional, which is so rare and very welcome. The Room Rates are very reasonable considering where you are staying and you definitely will get value for money in this exclusive hotel. Highly recommend the Abode for your next trip!

This was our first visit to Canterbury together. The receptionist gave us a very nice welcome and had taken the trouble, in allocating our room, to meet our requests. We were very pleased with our room, which was quiet and spacious, with a good sized bathroom. We received a drinks voucher each, which we used with the pre-theatre meal. The meal was varied and delicious, though the portions were not huge. The restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel was a good base from which to explore historic Canterbury. We enjoyed our breakfast too. I have already cited this hotel to others. I highly recommend Abode Canterbury and its staff. I am emailing the hotel my thanks too.
