The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun

4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed in a Royal Beach Club room. It was pleasant and included breakfast and a two hour happy hour each day. I wanted to give a 4.5, but that was not an option on this rating scale. My issue was that they had no bathrooms in the common areas/ground level. So when at the beach or pool, you had to go up to your room, or down a winding flight of stairs to get to them. Stairs is not possible for everyone to manage (me included)!

Don't be tempted by the budget price .. it's basically a hostel. Tragically understaffed (don't expect a drink by the pool unless or anyone to answer concierge calls). There is literally nothing to eat except cheeseburgers and pizza (not even a wine list was available!!) Was extremely unaccommodating to traveling with young children (calling extra towels, asking someone to put the bottles in the dishwasher behind the bar, not really stroller accessible - all issues). Called FOUR TIMES to have laundry service picked up... over 24 hours later someone finally came to get it, and when it came back, some of it was still dirty and it was all rolled up into a plastic bag (not even on hangers). How that made it past laundry staff, housekeeping, etc to be put back in our room like that was beyond me. They redid it, but still charged me more than $100 dollars for the cleaning. Room had rust on drawer handles, bathroom mirror and faucets .. it was generally broken down and tired ... Also, they were pushing their vaca. club/timeshare SO HARD, it was so annoying. We come to Cancun every 6 months or so - and LOVE IT. There are over 110 hotels in the hotel zone - DON'T CHOOSE THIS ONE to spend your time away or your money on!!!!

Just got back yesterday. This is our fifth time to this Westin. We usually go all inclusive and never stay at the same resort more than once but for this Westin we make the exception. We stayed here last year also and there has been an amazing transformation in the renovation of the rooms and facilities. We got am amazing last minute package from Orbitz that I could not pass up. Went with wife and 17 year old daughter and had a ball. Be warned there will be construction until July 2 at the buffet restaurant and small pools in front of it. Beach was amazing turquoise color all week, perfect weather to get away from the Buffalo snow. Only thing I did not like is you no longer get 10% discount at the hotel restaurants for being a hotel guest and our favorite Arricefes restaurant on site is permanently closed.

Love that this was near the beginning of Hotel zone. Beautiful ocean water color. Would go back. Basic lobby. We stayed in beach club area which included a yummy breakfast buffet and drinks (most alcohol drinks too) and snacks from 4-6 pm. One odd thing I found a bit misleading if if you didn’t ask for alcohol in your daquiris, they were made with no alcohol. The other thing I would like to see is more recycling areas around the hotel/ beach besides one spot at hotel. Rooms are very nice. Beds and pillows comfy. Staff super nice. Nice gym. Nice machines. Would defifinitey go back.

In over all everything was great, the first day the bathroom door got stuck and my daughter could not get out, but within 10 min. we had maintenance come and fix the problem. The hotel is remodeling and light construction still at the sight, but that was to be expected.

I can understand this is a getaway place. My family and I upon entering the room it was extremely cold. We called front desk and explain what’s going on and a language barrier became a issue. The engineer came up but didn’t speak English so I had to use my translation app to communicate SMH. After all this we found out the hotel don’t offer HEAT only AC yes AC. I been to many resorts in Cancun and those hotels have heat and AC and to say that this represents Westin is a shame. So on our week vacation we all got sick from not having heat.

Had a great time at the Westin Resort and Spa Cancun, the room and bathroom were clean and we had impressive views. My only complaint would be we were not able to check in early unless I upgraded as if there wasn’t another room available. Also, the sports bar indicates open to midnight but when we arrived at 11:07pm for good they said the kitchen was closed and that we could order room service. For 7 minutes we were unable to order at the bar, really 7 minutes? Then i had to search for a waiter when at the beach for food and drink service. Bysides those three incidents the overall hotel and majority of staff were great and accommodating!!!!!

The Westin is in the middle of a remodel. The housekeeping staff is not up to par as we had to every day request washcloths and they didn't remove dirty dishes. The restaurants were ok but after a few days of "bar" food, we had to keep looking downtown for better options. The pools are not heated and we were in a middle of a cold front. The surf machine looked fun but you are required to pay for an hour and can't split the price for two people. It is a very safe hotel and staff does try to make guest as happy as they can. Be aware that they will push for their timeshare promotion.

We have stayed at the Westin Regina at least 15 times. Even though they are remodeling the hotel we enjoyed our 9 days stay. The main pool was recently renovated and is beautiful. The lobby was completely redone - it was breathtaking. The rooms are being renovated next. Our beds were amazing and the room was so clean and inviting. The rooms are spacious and plenty of lights and mirrors. The Westin employees are the best! They are there for the guests and went out of their way to be helpful. Adrian and Denine Navarro went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Great people working at the Westin. Miquel was there for us if it was calling a cab, answering our questions - making a wonderful vacation again this year. This hotel is family oriented and we felt very safe and plan to go back again and again.

Can’t beat the price. Quiet beach at the end of the hotel zone. Where the bus turns around to go back so you can’t miss your stop. Our TV wasn’t working right. Within an hour a new TV was on our wall. They even offered to upgrade our room to a terrace room. Very friendly and helpful.

Not up to par for a Westin. The Westin Lagunamar is far superior

This should not be a Westin Hotel The hallways and the rooms smell like mold They are doing a large amount of work

Hotel location is perfect Far from the crowd / closest to airport Staff was friendly and helpful Only complains I have is when trying to book day trips to Tulum and Chichen Itza thru Concierge, felt pressure to join 90 minutes duration couples presentation for time shares I ended booking my day trips myself thru Viator from the web

It was a great experience for me and my family. Every member of the staff was respectful and very professional. We really enjoyed out breakfast hotel offered for additional price. The only recommendation would be to provide buffet meals for lunch and dinner for a fee or an option "All inclusive", otherwise prices are sky-rocketing))). Overall, we are happy with the hotel choice, regardless of the construction, which we even never heard. Great job.

Last minute stay - everything was amazing! Best last minute decision to stay ever!

Some of the staff was really friendly but when I asked to dine outside with my wife I was told I couldn't, but as soon as other couples from other nationalities asked for a table outside they were immediately seated. Soon after they noticed I was seeing this they then offered me a table outside. I felt discriminated and therefore will never comeback to this hotel neither will i recommend it.

Great time, quiet hotel even with construction going on.

My husband and I both have bites all over. It was the only hotel we stayed at. Several experts concluded it was bedbug bites.

Under construction but still very relaxing. The staff was great! Everyone greeted you and was checking on you. The Westinghouse will be very nice once the construction is done, I like that they are putting balconies in all rooms. Clean beach

Overall our stay was pleasant. The staff was very helpful and polite.

Hello Anonymous, we regret to hear that your stay with us didn't meet your expectations despite the renovated areas, the different pools and large beach. It is a surprise to hear your perceptions about the culinary offer, as we do offer international buffer service, our Sports Bar has more than 40 dishes in its menu and also offer healthy Superfoods RX dishes, Sea & Stones restaurant with grilled specialties and room service 24 hours. We regret to hear about the inconveniences with your laundry service and appreciate your constructive comments to help us to improve our opportunity areas. Best regards,
