This hotel was unbelievable. Yes it was a soft opening but it did not matter, the pool, beach and rooms were all amazing and immaculate. The staff were so attentive and lovely. The food was great, as were the drinks. The sky bar was a highlight. If you are thinking about going here - do it!

Atelier Playa Mujeres. Let me start with some caveats: This has been my (our, my wife and I) first trip to Cancun and first stay at an all inclusive anywhere. Also, I am a pretty “regular guy” from Indiana. This will be important later. We took the 40 minute cab ride (pre ordered, 85$ US round trip pre-tip) from Cancun airport. Apparently speeding is a big issue in Cancun, because they have speed bumps every 19 feet. This place is so new, odds are your cab driver has never been here before. It is right in the middle of the Playa Mujeres Golf Club. Reception: Unlike most US hotels that have a long counter with agents manning computers, Atelier uses a more intimate method. They have desks with comfy chairs, and the agent checking you in will likely be as helpful as you can imagine. I wish I remembered our agent’s name, but it escapes me currently. (I will try to edit later). Our Room: Francisco, the bellman, delivered us to our room 2343. 2 apparently is the number of the building, 3 is third floor, and 43 is the room number. Our room was wonderful. A gigantic king bed in the middle, a bathroom with a stand-alone bathtub (the bathroom was bigger than my first apartment I think!), and a large enough balcony with a pool overlook as well as an ocean (gulf?) view. I could not be happier with the room. The bed was comfy, we had a separate stand alone shower with two shower heads, one regular and one that provided a straight down rain effect simultaneously. Our room had more than ample closet storage as well as a safe big enough for a laptop or two plus your wife’s purse if it isnt monstrous. We had a minibar that was equipped with about 8 sodas, 4 juices, 6 beers, 4 waters, and a small bottle of white wine. There was also a tray with snacks (Pringle’s, Oreos, KitKat) and a bottle of red wine. The grounds: What a location. Far enough off the beaten path to have a pretty much private beach. Surrounded by a lush golf course, so the neighbors will never be too close, and far enough up the peninsula that the only folks up there are residents/hotel occupants. The beach was the standard super white gulf sand. No shells, but that’s ok by me. Easier on the feet! The pool: Maybe (probably) the central focus of the resort. This thing is mammoth. 40 or so chairs in a step-down shallow area. At least another 100 chairs including double-chaises. Umbrellas everywhere (important for my ability to get a sunburn in a closet). The Beach: So many chairs. Beach was nice. Didn’t spend much time here, =but only because the pool was so inviting. The Restaurants: Remember before when I said I was a regular guy? This is where it becomes obvious. Maria Dolores Restaurant: This is the restaurant that they kind of latch onto being a landmark type establishment. OK, the food. Fancy as heck. 7 courses paired with a half glass of wine for each course. The food was ok, but like I said before, I’m more “steak and potatoes/burgers and fries” kind of guy. The fancy-ness was lost lost on me. I will say the environment was very welcoming and our waiter, Jimmy, was awesome. There was a gentleman playing the harp above that was enjoyable as well. Getting back to the food, most courses were small, and over-fancy for my taste. The main course was a white fish that was tasty. Probably wouldn’t go back, again, only because it is wasted on me. Cilento: Italian based. Pretty good food. My wife had penne with 3 (4?) cheeses and it was tasty. I had two entrees (yes I’m a fat guy) shrimp with some kind of sauce, and scallops with some different sauce. Both were tasty, but the shrimp were over cooked. You know how shrimp is chewy when undercooked and tough when over cooked? Yeah, I know the difference too. It was tasty with the sauce though, and it was edible. Los Abrazos: The steak house. My wheelhouse. Food designed for me. Meat and potatoes. Best meal of the week. I had medium ribeye. Wife had medium-well filet (don’t judge her! That is a solid step down from well done that she used to require!). Both steaks were prepared exactly as ordered. I suspect my wife’s steak was seared, then baked because it wassn’t tough as heck like you would expect. It was juicy and delicious. The sauces were wonderful too. Get the mashed potatoes. They come in a crock with some kind of onion/brownish gravy that is awesome. Mercado 19. Breakfast buffet. I;m not a buffet fan, honestly, but the food was fresh and good. Made to order omelets, crepes and pancakes. Rice pudding. Best I have ever had. In a blue enamel camp cup near the pancakes/crepes. Get it. You will not be disappointed. The food and service, as expected, was great. Takeshi: Very nice. Individual call outs: Jorge and Jesus, wait staff near the pool and the Trompo (poolside) restaurants were wonderful. Cesar was great too. The bartenders at the lobby bar (I’ll edit with names later) were very friendly and skilled. I drink standard, easy drinks. The wife, not so much. But they always seemed to come up with a concoction that was delicious and to the wife’s standards! Overall. This place, while going thru the expected growing pains of a new property, is going to be a rock star. I only hope that I can afford it next year and the following years, because I would love to come back. Get it now while the rates are reasonable. You will not be disappointed.

Thank you to Minerva and Olga for all your attentions. Minerva made my “birthday party” so special. Olga in the sky pool gave a lot of recommendations about Cancún. All the hotel is amazing it really involve me to a complete new relax experience.

This was our first time staying at an all-inclusive resort in quite a while and it did not disappoint! From the moment we stepped out of the shuttle, it was paradise. During our stay, a portion of the hotel was still under construction and there was only about 20% occupancy. It was quiet and peaceful to say the least. We were also very impressed with the decor and architecture: "Mexican Modern." Our suite was one of the most beautiful guest rooms we've ever stayed in! The food was good and the drinks were tasty and plentiful (may we suggest grapefruit juice with tequila?). During your stay, make sure you get a cabana on the private beach and enjoy the hammocks!

The resort is immaculate with impeccable furnishings and decor. Including an incredible art gallery. The food is exceptional with artsy presentation. The staff enjoy their jobs and it shows. The whole resort is elegant. And I highly recommend it. One thing I’d like to mention... the beach is fine. Not the best due to the seaweed. May have been time of the year.

Decided on this resort based on location and positive reviews. Concerned about the seaweed problem the area is experiencing and after much research, chose this resort. I was not disappointed — the beach was pristine! The location is a bit off from downtown Cancun so away from the hustle and bustle. The only issue was being new hotel and not filled to capacity, not all restaurants were open making the cuisine options limited. However, of the choices available, they were excellent. The resort is huge and the staff very attentive. I would definitely stay here again.

Everything was top notch, but the staff made the experience truly spectacular! Everyone is so kind and accommodating. We never wanted for anything because the staff anticipated our needs before we had to ask. The resort is gorgeous. The rooms are truly 5-star luxury. The pool is amazing and the Sky Bar pool area provides a million dollar view and ambience you can’t experience anywhere else. Every square inch of the property is immaculately clean. Everyone on staff was excellent, but Carlos in Mercado (breakfast) was a stand-out. He knew what we needed even before we did. He made our vacation truly memorable. Oscar at the pool was also another favorite. He was so fun, always there when we needed a fresh drink and he remembers everything. What a wonderful luxury vacation for our 10th anniversary!

This is a beautiful adults only resort! It just opened in the Spring and everything is gorgeous. I have been to Cancun 5 times and this resort is a very high end, high quality resort. We stayed there for 7 days last week. Our check in was very smooth. The staff is extremely professional. They took the time to speak with us and get to know their guests. The pool attendants (Oscar and Cesar and others) were very attentive and the minute you were finished with food or drink, they were there asking if you needed anything else. Each day when we arrived at the pool, the attendants would lay out our towels for us. Beach bags are provided by the resort as well as plush towels both in the room and by the pool. The bar tenders at the swim up bars and in the resort were pleasant, very knowledgable about how to make different drinks and made recommendations if you were unsure as to what you wanted. The wait staff in the different restaurants were wonderful. We got to know Rigoberto and David who were extremely professional, kind, and very hardworking. They both remembered our names and made sure we were well taken care of. Even the wait staff at the buffet was extremely attentive to our needs and spoke to us each morning we were there. We only went on one excursion but Alan Ramirez from Best Day travel was the best person to work with. He helped us immediately after we checked in, made sure that we had our ride back to the airport, gave us some advice about different aspects of the resort, and helped us find the right excursion that fit our needs. I highly recomment working with him. The food was out of this world. We went back to the steak house (Abrazos) 3 times because it was sooo good. We tried all the restaurants and even tried room service (which was amazing). Each restaurant had its own variety of food and all of it was wonderful. We were there on both Canada Day and the 4th of July and they did something special for both occasions for dinner both evenings. There was an outdoor barbecue both times but with different menus including grilled lobster. The entertainment staff made the experience fun, especially on the special evenings where we were treated to costume characters and a DJ AND live band. I took advantage of the karoke night and the water exercise classes. They were very fun. There was something different presented each day and each evening as an opportunity to take advantage of. The room had all the amenities that one could ask for. We had a ocean view room and I spent quite a bit of time relaxing on the balcony viewing the ocean as well as the gorgeous sunsets. While relaxing in our room on the 4th of July, the doorbell rang. My husband answered it to find out that someone sent us a special treat - a pastry made to look like a mini hamburger and french fries. I thought it was so sweet and a special touch. I asked around to some of the other guests and no one else seemed to receive this so I felt extra special. We spent time at both the pool and the beach. The pool was huge and beautiful. We swam in the rooftop pool twice as well. We loved the infinity feature. There was always plenty of seating in the cabanas as well as the pool and beach chairs. The wait staff also brought food and drinks to you right at the beach and you hardly had to wait for anything. While tips were not expected, we decided to give our wait staff a few dollars each day because their service was so fabulous. Also, you just wanted to tip the people at the restaurants because they were so very attentive. The maid service was on point. The room was spotless every time we entered it. One day my husband accidently spilled liquid on the bed. We just pressed the clean room button and when we came back to the room, the bed was completely changed with fresh sheets. There were two buttons you could set - clean room and do not disturb. If the staff saw the red light outside your door, they left you alone. The mini bar and snacks were filled daily and more than once a day if needed. Alan Ramirez from Best Day made sure that our departure was very smooth as well. He helped us check out and made sure we made it to the car that was taking us to the airport. My favorite part of the resort was the staff. Everyone we encountered was respectful, polite and friendly. Once I was walking behind two of the cleaning staff and one said to the other we should let her pass and they both stepped aside so that I could walk by and they greeted me with a smile and hello. I just appreciated the friendly, comfortable environment at a beautiful, relaxing place.

Spent five days at Atelier in early July. First of all, the weather and the ocean were beautiful. No real seaweed issues. Atelier is a new resort and while there is room for improvement, there are many aspects of the resort that are perfect. The resort is huge but no where near filled to capacity. I worry that once the resort is full, they will not be able to provide the level of service they were able to provide to us during our stay. Hopefully, that won't be the case. First, let me compliment some outstanding workers: Valeria at check-in and check-out. Sweet young lady, very professional and happy. Ivan brought our luggage in and gave us the best little informative tour of the resort and our room. Oscar and Jesus were our pool and beach servers and they were AMAZING! So hard working, smiley, professional but easy-going and constantly serving. Carlos at the rooftop pool/bar- another wonderful , energetic and hard-working young man. You will not have an empty glass with these guys around. Lenny- hostess with a smile. Thank you for your warm greetings at the restaurants. Fernelly at Abrazos- couldn't have asked for better service, he didn't blink when we told him we wanted to order all the sides and skip the entrees. Very hard working young man. The men who work in the morning at Mercado 19, they are all so professional , so willing to provide you with exceptional service! Thank you David and Margarito for great service. The guys at Suspiro- incredible service, I'm sorry I can't remember their names but they were all attentive and we wanted for nothing while there! Our housekeeper was Perla and she was incredible!!!!! Came back from the beach each day to an immaculate room! Tere, the receptionist at the spa was sweet, helpful and informative. Abigail and Amy provided us with terrific massages, I highly recommend going to the spa at least once. The food at Atelier is flawless!!! Honestly, we did not have one bad meal or snack. The drinks too, were much better than some resorts we have visited. One thing we loved was that you can order food on the beach or by the pool and the waiters will bring it to you and it is delicious!!! Room service always came quickly and that food was great too. The only problem was that we had a hard time communicating with the room service person who answered the phone early in the morning, but hey , I'm in his country, it's my problem that I couldn't always explain what I wanted. To his credit he got every order 100% right. Some little things we thought were especially nice: The separate toilet with a little table, the make-up mirror, the double sinks, the toiletries, the ample space to put clothes, the outside bed on our patio (we had a swim up suite). The beach beds and loungers were excellent! Comfy and adjustable! No blender noise by the beach. The pool is HUGE! There's actually TWO swim up bars ( not that you needed them with Jesus around) Some suggestions: The spa needs handrails around the hydrotherapy circuit. Also please have spa specials. A little discount on certain services each day would entice me to go more often. The tv gave info about what was going on as far as restaurant closing sand activities, but we really felt that there should have been a daily newsletter. Speaking of restaurants closing- We soon realized that the choices were very limited each night. Something went wrong at Takeshi so Mercado 19 served their food one night. Then Mercado 19 closed other nights, so we went back to Takeshi. We ate a lot of delicious sushi, but it would have been nice to have some Mexican cuisine. The Italian restaurant was phenomenal. The bars need menus. The employees, though wonderful just don't seem very comfortable yet. Sometimes it seemed that they were too stiff and nervous but I think this will change in time. There is minimal entertainment at night. For a huge resort, they should really be able to have different types of entertainment at different places in the evening. I think with time, as the resort fills up, that aspect of it will get better. Right now, this resort just lacks a certain vibe that will come in time as more people visit and the employees become more relaxed. I can not picture Atelier having a family section. That too will certainly change the atmosphere. There was talk of this resort eventually being $1000 a night and that the rooftop bar and pool would only be open to club members. If that happens I would not come back. But if the price is good and people continue to give it good reviews even after it is at capacity , I would definitely return. Here is the most impressive thing : We left Atelier to go to a second resort we love and when we got there I realized my husband's passport was missing. We called Atelier and within 15 minutes they had found it. We had to spend 3 and 1/2 hours traveling between the hotels but Atelier had it waiting for us! I never actually found out who found it but I owe them a debt of gratitude!

My daughter and I take a mother/daughter every year. This has to be the best one ever so far. Atelier Playa Mujeres resort is absolutely amazing! A former reviewer mentioned the whole resort is like an art gallery and they weren’t kidding pics don’t do this place justice. Our room (a swim out) was Amazing Interiors magazine worthy. Whoever designed this place should win an award. The food is some of the best food I’ve had even at 5 star hotels. The pool and swim up bar are incredible. Lots of cabanas and in pool seating. The beach is very nice even with the dreaded seaweed. The people on the island are so sweet and friendly. The staff at the hotel are so amazing and accommodating. Special thanks to Olga for the welcome drink, Oscar, Cesar for taking care of our beach needs but most incredible staff person by far is Hector (beach & pool service). He deserves a promotion and a raise because he’s the hardest working most kind person I’ve ever met. Thank you to housekeeping for keeping our room perfect. My only negative comments have to do with Best Day travel. Not that dependable and I think the resort should have other transportation options instead of just Best Day. The other is that although the hotel tried to help America celebrate its birthday on July 4, some of it was a little insulting ie Uncle Sam making it rain with money - horrible stereotype. Also American music is more than just rock n roll (which l love) but ever heard of Motown or the Miami sound? If the resort wants to participate in American celebrations, I suggest they do more research. Inclusivity is very important to the American people. Other than the above-mentioned, everything was excellente!😎😍
