Positives: * Clean * Warm (it was freezing outside!) * Blackout blinds on windows * Comfortable beds and nice towels * Very reasonably priced * Reception staff were very nice and friendly Considerations : * Only one plug socket that wouldn’t take my EU adapter, so nowhere to charge phones, plug in straighteners etc * Walls were very thin * Toiletries in bathroom were meager * They take your passport at check in- felt like quite a strange and dated approach. That said, we didn’t refuse but I can imagine it might be a problem for people who are more sensitive about their passports. Overall, a pleasant stop over.
We stayed here overnight on a leisurely journey to Modena. We chose the Hotel Sirio partly because of its location but also because its restaurant had good reviews, and we were looking forward to a nice relaxing evening. We had checked when booking that the restaurant was open on Mondays. We were therefore very disappointed to be told, on arrival on Monday evening, that there had been a big party the night before and the restaurant was closed. We would have to get back in the car and drive into Ivrea town itself to find anywhere to eat. Even the bar appeared not to be open! The management tried to compensate by upgrading our room to a suite, which was decent of them, but frankly we would have preferred a meal! The restaurant was open for breakfast next day (pretty good, incidentally), and would have been just what we had been looking forward to. The hotel's situation is quite charming, although it takes a bit of finding after dark. Like reviewer David M, we were surprised to be asked to hand our passports over on arrival, and not get them back until departure.
While Hotel Sirio offers good value, there are conditions. My major complaint is that there are no ramps from the entry level to the lobby and from the lobby to the small elevator. Guests must lift baggage up five or six steps TWICE before getting to the elevator. Dining is limited both in times and menu selections.
After driving in from Lake Geneva over St Bernard pass, the only thing I wanted to do is have a drink or three. Checking-in at the hotel was strange as it is the first time I have been asked for passports, which they kept and gave them back upon paying the bill the next day. I suppose that is the policy, but it is the first hotel I have ever stayed in that has done that and I am hypersenstive about losing my passport. With credit cards on file, it seems like a redundant process, especially after checking in to so many Hilton Hotels and even Ibis as they just look at my residency card, if they can even be bothered to do that. Anyway, it was nice to have beers on the terrace. The food in the restaurant was good and good value for money. I enjoyed the local Piedmont wines available and it was all a pleasant experience. Bed mattress was quite thin and reminded me of something out of That 70's Show.
We were travelling east along the Aosta Valley highway and wanted to stop for the night before continuing to Croatia the next day. Ivrea is the last "mountain" town before the hot flat drive through Milan. Hotel Sirio did not disappoint. You'll probably need a car or Uber to get there from public transportation, it's off the beaten path near a small lake. Really nice restaurant, lobby, and outdoor deck. Only the rooms will come across as "spartan" to American travellers unused to older Italian hotels. We thought it was a great deal for the price and it delayed our trip a bit as we dragged our feet leaving. Nice deal, nice location, wonderful coffee overlooking the rustic foothills.
- clean but old fashioned rooms- nice location- calm environment- good parking but the whole feeling is that you are leaving in a different decade 70's maybe . It seems like abandoned and it needs renovation( tiles- rooms- beds- bathrooms- carpets- curtaines- doors- windows etc.)
Beautiful place, excellent service, the personnel very well. Excellent room, the mountain are amazing. Highly recommend. Thanks for the service. Only The breakfast was poor, the rest was excellent. A++++
Great staff , very helpful. We enjoyed the near by lake beach club , but I was there for the world class canoe slalom course down town Irea. Our last night our car broke down , the staff called the tow truck from the garage we were recommended, made it all easy . ended up staying another four nights and the hotel discounted our bill on check out. cant say enough.
What an amazing place to stay. Very modern, clean, bright and at an excellent spot just across from Lago Sirio and 5 minutes from Ivrea town. There is nothing I can pick on and had a lovely stay here.
This was an unplanned stop - we ended up staying one night due to arriving late into Italy due to traffic delays in the Mont Blanc tunnel. So after a long journey this was a great one stop hotel. Clean, friendly with a reasonable restaurant on site with home cooked local food and wines. We arrived late just before the restaurant closed at 10pm. The service was great, we were recommended lovely local wines and we were not hurried up to finish despite being the last customers of the night.
