Disliked: Cleanliness
This was far the biggest disappointment. The wrong door code was provided. I was embarrassed. Luckily the garage code worked so we could access the home. Hours later the host provided the correct code. The home was a showpiece years ago, but it is past its prime. Vents falling out of the ceiling, or could not be closed. Picture missing. Scuffs and gouges on the walls. The furnace was blasting. The sign said do not touch the thermostat, so I contacted the host, who also advised not to touch it. We had to open windows to make it bearable, but the weather changed and it was necessary to close them again. A fireplace was advertised, but there was no way to utilize it. We had hoped to turn down the furnace and just enjoy the fire. I have always relied on the information booklet for such things. Usually that would also outline local attractions, restaurants, etc., and check out expectations. None provided! The latter was outlined in the VRBO message.With plans to barbecue burgers, surprisingly the bbq grate was filthy and needed to be washed before we could make dinner. Picture attached. I left it in a clean usable manner for the next people. Absolute disappointment came when the people staying in the master bedroom went to have a shower. See pictures attached. I felt so bad, I attempted to clean it. However it appears it may be black mould in the silicone which I could not clean. The baby was in that room. If mould - a serious health hazard. We need a refund!
