Stayed here while I was in Cairns and absolutely loved it. The staff are amazing and they make the experience! Loved the pool and bar area, the bus to the city is super helpful too. The rooms aren't the best but then you don't go to cairns to sit in your room. Certain members of staff there absolutely deserve a commendation from Nomads, they are an asset to their company! Frazer on travel and Darragh on the bar just made my time there one hundred times better and I can't wait to return purely because of the atmosphere they create there.

Fantastic place - staff was extremely helpful, the common area is large and relaxing and they have great drink and meal specials. Free shuttle bus to the night market / central Cairns until 3am. Dorms were clean enough and in line with every other hostel I've stayed at. Some reviewers seem to be expecting the Ritz-Carlton at $25 a night, not sure what world they are living in. Awesome place, great staff and a chilled out vibe. What more could you want?

This is one of the best and hostels I have stayed at over the past 10 and a half months in Australia. It has so much going for it. I just want to say a big thanks to all of the staff for being so accommodating with my requests. Conny (I hope I'm spelling it right) and Fraser (again, hope I'm spelling it right) were very polite and helpful - which I appreciate. I've met so many lovely people since being here. I hope to be back for a visit again one day. All the best to all of the staff.

This hostel was meh. It did the job but i found that I had to ask many questions about how things work around there. I had to ask about how breakfast works (I got breakfast included during my stay) and where to do my washing etc. And I wasn't told why staff would come in around 10am with a clipboard or when staff would hoover/clean the rooms. They should really have a welcome guide that explains all of the above. Furthermore, the free breakfast was a lot more basic than I imagined. It consisted of two slices of toast with a coffee or a tea. It would have been handy if each room had a fridge to keep things like milk or fruit in there, instead of having to use the shared ones in the kitchen area. I found the staff less than welcoming, they didn't smile or tell me what I needed to know or really wanted to chat with me. As a solo traveller, I found this experience less than great and I couldn't wait to return home.

The atmosphere of the hostel was great itself. We felt as though there was a lot to do and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Loved the idea of regular buses to the night market as well. We felt as though we had the tiniest room ever though for six people. Everyone who visited our room who was also staying at the hostel said how small our room was compared to theirs and they had six beds in their room too. There was also one plug socket for six people which isn't ideal when everyone needs to charge their phones up etc.

Frazer with a 'z' , wicked and lovely guy! So helpful, stayed over time at work just to get my trip planned! I had no idea what to do or where to go and sat and went through everything with me. I couldn't have planned this trip with him. Definitely recommend him if you stay here and need help :)

Nomads cairns is a nice hostel well the guests are and some of the staff working for accommodation however the actual staff never smile, during conversations at the reception desk they don't ask to hold while they answer a phone, have very poor communication skills and often stand around doing as they please while you wait. You get spoken to as if you are an immature teenager living at a boarding school. If you ask for assistance they say "no" think it's funny walk off and come back a few minutes later (that's happened more than once to me and friends ) I stayed here for two maybe more weeks but only for the great people I came across otherwise I wouldn't recommend. You have to barter for their prices because the internet says one thing and they tell you another. The whole thing is just out of control unorganised crazy.

We stayed here for only 2 nights. What appealed to us were the very cheap private rooms - very simple but that was all we needed. The food at the bar is so cheap and delicious! The only downfall is the distance from the city, but there are free shuttles running every hour from 7am until after midnight, so it was not an issue at all!

The hostel had a big open lounge area and bar, which served lovely food. It was a little far from the centre of town, but the shuttle bus they provided filled this gap well. Many of the staff were very friendly and helpful. On the negative side of things: I felt security was lacking - I had to leave my things pre-check in to go somewhere and, while I appreciated being able to do this, they didn't check my name and left me alone with the storage room, other people's belongings and the instruction to shut the door when I finished. When I did check in I was told to show myself to the room, and not shown were bathrooms were, told about kitchen opening times or any other facilities. The room was freezing and only a sheet was provided. When I went down at half midnight to ask them to alter the a/c temperature I was told this wasn't possible it could only be on or off. I was informed I could get a blanket but needed a deposit. I explained my money was in my room and everyone was sleeping in there, but they wouldn't make any allowance for me to pay the next morning. The rooms were carpeted and, like many people who go to Cairns, we were a room of divers who had no choice but to dry our towels in the room which constantly smelt damp and one double-plug socket was not enough for a dorm room. There was NO free wifi anywhere in the hostel. The bathroom was almost always dirty, with water everywhere, blocked toilets, etc. Very disappointing in all.

Nomads is an amazing base to explore Cairns' surroundings. Whether you are a party animal, want to explore the rainforrest, go on an amazing diving trip at the world famous Great Barrier Reef, need to get your adrenaline up running and want to go skydiving or bungee jumping, this is the place to be. The passionate and friendly Nomads crew can tell you all about it, will get you great deals and free entrance to the Woolshed and might even join you for a drink at the Serpent bar where they sell jugs of beer and cocktails for a very reasonable price. Are you getting hungry? You can cook your own meal in the kitchen that basically has everything you need, but the menu at the bar is so reasonably priced that you might not even bother to cook your own... Afterwards there are plenty of bar games to play with your fellow travelers. After a long day in the the hot tropical climate, there is a great swimming pool surrounded by palm trees and a volleybal field and when you are all satisfied and want to go out, there is a free shuttle that will bring you into town every hour and bring you back to the hostel untill 3pm. How awesome is that?! I stayed in a double room ensuite, got clean towels whenever needed and the room was clean and got great shower and toilet facilities. I highly recommend staying at Nomads!
