I went in to see rooms for a family reunion.....well rooms were not for me. Paint peeling, electrical cords exposed and more, grass needed cut between the main building and the "inn". Saw the bar and left.
The lil girl at the desk was very unprofessional and rude I think her name was laura, an employee was sleeping in the lobby, room smelled like mildew, sat on the bed and the headboard fell off, we saw drug deals taking place I could go on and on but needless to say i took my family to the holiday inn.this place is disgusting and should probably be paid a visit from the task Force
Colleague and I were looking for a place for several nights stay while working on the road. New Castle was a good middle point and when given choice of a sure thing in Holiday Inn Express or a 'Mom and Pop' establishment, we decided to live adventurously and support local business. Biggest mistake ever. Woman at main desk was super friendly and wanted to bend over backwards to welcome us and make us feel at home, but that's where the good ended. Colleague's room had electronic lock taped open and key didn't work to secure room. Mysterious red-brown stains (or was it dirt that would have wiped/scrubbed off?) on walls and floor of bathroom. Strong odor of stale cigarette smoke (and receptionist adamant that whole facility was non-smoking and they charged a steep price if you did smoke in the rooms.) Both rooms had no less than 3 solid air fresheners scattered about each room. Beds were _filthy_ - burn holes in the coverlets, dirt/leaves/dried grass/etc. between mattress and box spring, stains on all layers of bedding. We weren't opposed to tacky décor in the common areas, or tired architecture, but filth and unsecure facility, and general uneasiness...Wish we had read the reviews on this one before booking. Received verbal excuses why refund took manager's doing and he had recently been in a car accident and rolled 3 times, dislocating several vertebrae (heard that story at least 3 times even before we saw the rooms.) Still not sure if credit card refunded, waiting on credit card company to deny the charge.
not clean at all, mold on shower curtain, stink bug, spider webs, bed sheets have cigarette burns. restaurant not even open, no phone in room, no towels, toilet didn't flush good, sink leaks, handle came off, I wished I would have just left, but was just to tired to drive,
I don't like to "bash" places for being small and not a 5 star, however I think other travellers would appreciate an HONEST review. Start with THE GOOD: -yes, the room was clean -it was cheap -the staff is very friendly THE BAD -lobby smelled of mold/mildew -rooms are very outdated -although we were the only ones staying there on the Saturday night, somebody had a key card for our room and tried getting in at 4am in the morning - VERY unsettling, didn't get back to sleep. Good thing for deadbolt. -not sure when front lobby opens, nobody was there when we left around 8am -apparently their phone has been disconnected and haven't heard back from mgmt. after leaving a message regarding our stay -young guy at front desk clearly had no idea what he was doing, he didn't even know where our room was - the property is in rough shape -signage is terrible for hotel, very small and hard to see, especially when arriving after dark (note to mgmt. - replace "the maze" sign with the name of your hotel) -there was a draft that came in the room from around the a/c unit and from under the door -baseboard heating - makes loud clicking noise when heating up, hard to sleep - also took a couple hours for room to actually heat up -bring your own pillows - the ones provided are paper thin, we bought some at Walmart -phone in room doesn't work -bed was very firm (for us it was not a good thing, however, if you like a hard bed, it's great) We choose the place because of how cheap it was and by the pic that mgmt. posted on how the rooms look. Ours looked nothing like the picture. We didn't have much dealing with staff after checking in, but they were friendly. Didn't eat there, went into town. Town is less than a 5 minute drive away.
As someone said don't judge a book by it's cover, The Caravan doesn't look much from outside but the staff are wonderful, the rooms are clean and the tariff is fair for what you get, we would gladly stay here again, on our first night we visited the bar and it was just about to close up, the bar tender kept it open for us and one other and we had a great time chatting with him and the other customer, I 100% recommend staying here.
Let me start by saying if you are looking for the Ritz, don't stay here. If you are looking for friendly staff, a roof over your head, a clean bed and a place to get yourself ready for the next day on the interstate this is a good affordable place. It served its purpose. To the very nice girl who offered to check me even when she already finished her shift , hats off to you. Support these types of mom and pop places when ya can. Cheers.
Absolutely disappointing toilet did not flush room smelled of smoke and mildew power was off several times and the $65 and night was not available to spend $120 per night would not recommend it to anybody
Upgraded to double size room. Very nice employees. Extremely clean room. Nature path. Rural setting, but close to things. Economical. Many extras. Deer. Bible study. Restaurant. Close parking. Quiet. Made friends with employees.
Tova will handle any of your needs. Andrew was informative about his renovations. The bartender was friendly. Mike cooked us breakfast that was good. The AC in the rooms was adequate. This is not a Hampton or Sheraton and as such is not as nice. But the cost of the rooms was half the price of theirs. We were here for a golf tourney and only wanted the rooms to sleep in so they were ok for what we needed. Room came with a microwave and refrig. Old TV's but they worked good enough.
