Spacious rooms and spa was beautiful and relaxing.

Food at restaurant was mediocre. Service at front desk was inefficient and slow. Glasses from other guests not picked up in a timely fashion. With very few exceptions staff were not service orientated.

The Essex is an entity in itself, offering outdoor activities, a spa as well as facilities such as two restaurants. Suitable for families and couples, it’s location is close enough to Burlington while still offering the peace & quiet of the countryside. Our room was large and comfortable.

At the tavern they need to service people better There always in the back Waited to be serviced a glass of wine. No one at the bar Seated my self for breakfast no one there where a serviced walked by I had to ask him to take my order

It is a decent place for the price. There is nothing luxurious about it but no major complaints either. It is located perfectly for things to do in Burlington area.

The room was very clean and well thought out. Unfortunately the property is showing its age. Wallpaper peeling in a few places, drywall joints cracked and several of the lights did not work. On the positive side, the pool was very nice and the food was fantastic in the Tavern.

This is a great spot. The property is stunning and the location is convenient. The room was decorated in a fun baking theme. There is coffee and pastries at the front desk and two restaurants on the premises. We went to the tavern twice. It has great upscale bar food and an impressive beer list. Be warned though- they will charge you an additional $22/day “resort fee” on top of whatever you paid orbitz. I must have missed that fine print. $$$

Popular among an older clientele, the hotel was peaceful in a natural setting.

Very nice gem of a hotel in northwestern VT. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the grounds, the room, and the food. The Cheddar Mac was wonderful! I would have liked a spa treatment but I had not booked an appointment in advance, which is my fault. The spa building seemed nice when I went in and inquired. I liked how there were real coffee mugs in the room. An area for improvement was that I noticed the room cleaning staff coming down hallways looking at and using smart phones instead of greeting visitors.

Nice property. Surrounded by culinary and flower garden. Peaceful and quiet. Short drive into Burlington. Food excellent.

Customer service with staff was hit or miss. I think the hotel may be understaffed for things like providing more toiletries to room. Not enough soap was left for a family of 4. It was 10 pm and the front desk person said he couldn't get more body wash because house keeping was gone for the day and he was the only one there at the front and because he thought their supply room was locked. He did give more soap which they kept at the front desk. Also the evening before I checked out I asked the front desk person to print out my boarding pass and initially she refused telling me to use an air printer. When I said I didn't know how to do this she still wouldn't help me until I made it clear to her that this is important I print them out. Finally she agreed to have me email them to her and she printed them out after making me wait for her to handle several other person's needs first which was really inappropriate. The food at the Tavern restaurant was also hit or miss. But wait staff was good. Food was good at the Junction restaurant but our waitress was not very friendly at all. I think they just lost a 14 person reservation and were upset about that. The grounds are just off a main road so not very rustic. Overall would not recommend.

Lovely VT resort. Even though it is large enough to accommodate groups, it feels quant and in a very VT style. Food was excellent! We ate at both restaurants. Spa facilities lovely, clean.

The facilities were good. It was very convenient to move around the property. The staff is friendly and helpful

Nice quietnnon-chain hotel. Cooking class was outstanding. Relaxed setting.

Beautiful Inn in a nice spot away from the hustle and bustle. Lovely rooms and incredible cuisine with a welcoming atmosphere.

Luckily we got a deal through Orbitz for this hotel, because if we paid full price then I would have been a bit disappointed. The room was nice and clean, the bed confortable and plush. The TV only worked half the time, but this wasn't a big deal since we didn't really use it much. The shower was warm and had great pressure, but I had to duck down to rinse my hair, being a female with long hair, this was annoying and the only other time that's happened to me was in Japan, which is more understandable. The grounds are pretty, even in the winter, but there wasn't as many trails close by like I thought. The spa was beautiful and relaxing, we had a couples massage and both masseuses were great, but I'm not sure if they were $400 great. We've gotten other couples massages for a quarter of the price that were just as good . The Tavern had good bar food, the wings were on special the night we were there and they were delicious. A good selection of beers on tap. We made reservations for the junction, the food was amazing and the service was wonderful! Again, it's pricey, but you expect that going into a culinary Resort. They only have an outdoor hot tub, and the indoor pool was loaded with kids, so if you're looking for a romantic time to sit and relax in the pool, that doesn't happen. It maybe could if they were open past 8pm. There's not much to do after dinner, except hang out at the Tavern. Overall, we would probably go back when then weather was nicer and more to do outside.
